Warm reset on OMAP5 freezes when USB cable is connected.
Fix requires PRM_RSTTIME.RSTTIME1 to be programmed
with the time for which reset should be held low for the
voltages and the oscillator to reach stable state.
There are 3 parameters to be considered for calculating
the time, which are mostly board and PMIC dependent.
-1- Time taken by the Oscillator to shut + restart
-2- PMIC OTP times
-3- Voltage rail ramp times, which inturn depends on the
PMIC slew rate and value of the voltage ramp needed.
In order to keep the code in u-boot simple, have a way
for boards to specify a pre computed time directly using
the 'CONFIG_OMAP_PLATFORM_RESET_TIME_MAX_USEC'
option. If boards fail to specify the time, use a default
as specified by 'CONFIG_DEFAULT_OMAP_RESET_TIME_MAX_USEC' instead.
Using the default value translates into some ~22ms and should work in
all cases.
However in order to avoid this large delay hiding other bugs,
its recommended that all boards look at their respective data
sheets and specify a pre computed and optimal value using
'CONFIG_OMAP_PLATFORM_RESET_TIME_MAX_USEC'
In order to help future board additions to compute this
config option value, add a README at doc/README.omap-reset-time
which explains how to compute the value. Also update the toplevel
README with the additional option and pointers to
doc/README.omap-reset-time.

There could be scenarios where the user would like to manually(via JTAG)
configure the DDR/L2SRAM and load the bootloader binary onto DDR/L2SRAM.
This document explains thse usecases and the detailed explanation of what needs
to be done to use it.
Most of the code from CONFIG_SYS_RAMBOOT will be used except for small changes
of CCSRBAR etc.
The changes are not very large, but it is good to document them so that user
can get it working at once.

With sandbox it is tricky to add an FDT to the image at build time (or
later) since we build an ELF file, not a plain binary, and the address
space of the whole U-Boot is not accessible in the emulated memory map
of sandbox.
Sandbox can read files directly from the host, though, so add an option
to read an FDT from a host file on start-up.

Implement BOOT_OFFSET command for imximage. This command is parallel
to current BOOT_FROM command, but allows more flexibility in configuring
arbitrary image header offset. Also add an imximage.cfg with default
offset values into arm/arch/imx-common/ so the board-specific imximage.cfg
can include this file to avoid magic constants.
The syntax of BOOT_OFFSET command is "BOOT_OFFSET <u32 offset>".

Introduce 'mx28evk_nand' target for saving environment variables into NAND.
The mx28evk board does not come with a NAND flash populated from the
factory. It comes with an empty slot (U23), which allows the insertion of a
48-pin TSOP flash device.

The "bootmenu" command uses U-Boot menu interfaces and provides
a simple mechanism for creating menus with several boot items.
When running this command the menu will be assembled as defined
by a set of environment variables which contain a title and
command key-value pairs. The "Up" and "Down" keys are used for
navigation through the items. Current active menu item is
highlighted and can be selected using the "Enter" key.
The command interprets and generates various ANSI escape
sequencies, so for proper menu rendering and item selection
the used terminal should support them.

Selecting menu items is currently done in menu_interactive_choice()
by reading the user input strings from standard input.
Extend menu_interactive_choice() to support user defined function
for selecting menu items. This function and its argument can be
specified when creating the menu.

Refactor linker-generated array code so that symbols
which were previously linker-generated are now compiler-
generated. This causes relocation records of type
R_ARM_ABS32 to become R_ARM_RELATIVE, which makes
code which uses LGA able to run before relocation as
well as after.
Note: this affects more than ARM targets, as linker-
lists span possibly all target architectures, notably
PowerPC.

The "mtest" command is of little practical use (if any), and
experience has shown that a large number of board configurations
define useless or even dangerous start and end addresses. If not even
the board maintainers are able to figure out which memory range can be
reliably tested, how can we expect such from the end users? As this
problem comes up repeatedly, we rather do not enable this command by
default, so only people who know what they are doing will be
confronted with it.
As this changes the user interface, we allow for a grace period
before this change takes effect. For now, we make "mtest"
configurable through the CONFIG_CMD_MEMTEST variable, which is defined
in include/config_cmd_default.h; we also add an entry to
doc/feature-removal-schedule.txt which announces the removal of this
default setting in two releases from now, i. e. with v2013.07.

In master we had already taken a patch to fix the davinci GPIO code for
CONFIG_SOC_DM646X and in u-boot-ti we have additional patches to support
DA830 (which is CONFIG_SOC_DA8XX && !CONFIG_SOC_DA850). Resolve these
conflicts manually and comment the #else/#endif lines for clarity.

On some architectures certain values of splashimage will lead to
a data abort exception.

Using environmental variable "ddr_interactive" to activate interactive DDR
debugging seomtiems is not enough. For example, after updating SPD with a
valid but wrong image, u-boot won't come up due to wrong DDR configuration.
By enabling key press method, we can enter debug mode to have a chance to
boot without using other tools to recover the board.
CONFIG_FSL_DDR_INTERACTIVE needs to be defined in header file. To enter the
debug mode by key press, press key 'd' shortly after reset, like one would
do to abort auto booting. It is fixed to lower case 'd' at this moment.

This patch adds a NAND Flash torture feature, which is useful as a block stress
test to determine if a block is still good and reliable (or should be marked as
bad), e.g. after a write error.

Update CONFIG_RAMBOOT and CONFIG_NAND_SPL references to accept CONFIG_SPL
and CONFIG_SPL_BUILD, respectively. CONFIG_NAND_SPL can be removed once
the last mpc85xx nand_spl target is gone.
CONFIG_RAMBOOT will need to remain for other use cases, but it doesn't
seem right to overload it for meaning SPL as well as nand_spl does. Even
if it's somewhat appropriate for the main u-boot, the SPL itself isn't
(necessarily) ramboot, and we don't have separate configs for SPL and
main u-boot. It was also inconsistent, as other platforms such as
mpc83xx didn't use CONFIG_RAMBOOT in this way.

Add LCD definitions and also a proposed binding for LCD displays.
The PWM is as per what will likely be committed to linux-next soon.
The displaymode binding comes from a proposal here:

The panel binding is new, and fills a need to specify the panel
timings and other tegra-specific information. Should a binding appear
that allows the pwm to handle this automatically, we can revisit
this.

The mx5 lowlevel_init.S contains board-specific code based on the reference
design. Let's keep it since it avoids creating new lowlevel_init files and it
may be used by many boards. But add a config to make it optional in order not to
cause issues on boards not following this part of the reference design.

This makes the FAT and ext4 filesystem implementations build if
CONFIG_FS_{FAT,EXT4} are defined, rather than basing the build on
whether CONFIG_CMD_{FAT,EXT*} are defined. This will allow the
filesystems to be built separately from the filesystem-specific commands
that use them. This paves the way for the creation of filesystem-generic
commands that used the filesystems, without requiring the filesystem-
specific commands.
Minor documentation changes are made for this change.
The new config options are automatically selected by the old config
options to retain backwards-compatibility.

SX1 does not build properly by itself, is not built
as part of MAKEALL arm or MAKEALL -a arm, and is only
present in Makefile, not boards.cfg. As it also has no
entry in MAINTAINERS, it is orphan and non-functional.

Based on populated DIMMs, automatically select from cs0_cs1_cs2_cs3 or
cs0_cs1 interleaving, or non-interleaving if not available.
Fix the message of interleaving disabled if controller interleaving
is enabled but DIMMs don't support it.

- VSC 3316/3308 is a low-power, low-cost asynchronous crosspoint switch
capable of data rates upto 11.5Gbps. VSC3316 has 16 input and 16
output ports whereas VSC3308 has 8 input and 8 output ports.
Programming of these devices are performed by two-wire or four-wire
serial interface.

the first template in U-Boot that is used to generate kerneldoc
style documentation. This template is very basic.

This patch converts the old method of creating a list of command
onto the new LG-arrays code. The old u_boot_cmd section is converted
to new u_boot_list_cmd subsection and LG-array macros used as needed.
Minor adjustments had to be made to the common code to work with the
LG-array macros, mostly the fixup_cmdtable() calls are now passed the
ll_entry_start and ll_entry_count instead of linker-generated symbols.
The command.c had to be adjusted as well so it would use the newly
introduced LG-array API instead of directly using linker-generated
symbols.

Import basic CSS stylesheet for the HTML documentation. The base for
the stylesheet is taken from:
http://ds9a.nl/docbook/minimal-page.html
I customized the CSS a bit further, for example to add curvy corners
to example section and change the tint of gray. The HTML documentation
does not look that crude anymore.

Pull slightly modified version of Documentation/DocBook, the related perl
script scripts/kernel-doc and the scripts/docproc.c from Linux kernel and
implant it into U-Boot. This will allow smooth generation of kerneldoc
style documentation.
It was necessary to modify the DocBook/Makefile to work with U-Boot build
system. The changes were only minor though and involved replacing the kbuild
specific parts.
It was also necessary to replace use of variables like KERNEL_VERSION with
U_BOOT_VERSION, strings like Linux kernel with U-Boot Bootloader etc. so
the generated result actually matches.
Finally, it was necessary to adjust docproc.c, since the documentation in
U-Boot is located in doc/DocBook instead of Documentation/DocBook as is in
case of the Linux kernel.
Some parts of the DocBook Makefile are unused, but to allow easier sync with
Linux kernel, these parts are still left in. The targets enabled now are
"htmldocs" "pdfdocs" "psdocs" "xmldocs" and "cleandocs" to remove the results
of documentation build.

Under option -munaligned-access, gcc can perform local char
or 16-bit array initializations using misaligned native
accesses which will throw a data abort exception. Fix files
where these array initializations were unneeded, and for
files known to contain such initializations, enforce gcc
option -mno-unaligned-access.

Due to grown code sizes the TQM85xx boards don't build any more with
some older tool chains (like ELDK 4.2). As these boards have long
reached EOL it seems a waste of effort trying to fix them. The vendor
has agreed to drop support for them, too. So let's get rid of them.

Now DT support is becoming common for all new SoC's. Hence it is better
to have option for getting specific FDT from the remote server.
This patch adds support for new label i.e. 'fdt'. This will allow to
retrieve 'fdt blob' from the remote server. This patch take care for
the following scenarios.
The usage of fdt is optional.
The 'fdt blob' can be retrieved from tftp or can be available locally
or can be absent.
If 'fdt_addr_r' environment variable is set and 'fdt' label is defined
retrieve 'fdt blob' from tftp. 'fdt_addr_r' is then passed along bootm
command.
If 'fdt_addr' is set and 'fdt blob' is not retrieved from the tftp pass
'fdt_addr' to bootm command. In this case 'fdt blob' will be available
at 'fdt_addr'.
If 'fdt_addr' is not set and 'fdt blob' is not retrieve from tftp pass
NULL to boot command. In this case 'fdt blob' is not required and absent.

It is desirable to use different port numbers for sending and receiving
packets with netconsole in the case where you have more than one device
on the local subnet with netconsole enabled for broadcast. When they
use the same port for both, any output from one will look like input to
the other. This is typlically not desirable.
This patch allows the input and output ports to be specified separately
in the environment.

This board is the only board that still sticks to OneNAND IPL.
Remove this board, since we have SPL around for a while and
OneNAND is well supported in the SPL framework. The board can
be revived if necessary.

The Programmable Multibit ECC (PMECC) controller is a programmable binary
BCH(Bose, Chaudhuri and Hocquenghem) encoder and decoder. This controller
can be used to support both SLC and MLC NAND Flash devices. It supports to
generate ECC to correct 2, 4, 8, 12 or 24 bits of error per sector of data.
To use PMECC in this driver, the user needs to set the PMECC correction
capability, the sector size and ROM lookup table offsets in board config file.
This driver is ported from Linux kernel atmel_nand PMECC patch. The main difference
is in this version it uses registers structure access hardware instead of using macros.
It is tested in 9x5 serial boards.

Provides a tool to build boot Image for PBL(Pre boot loader) which is
used on Freescale CoreNet SoCs, PBL can be used to load some instructions
and/or data for pre-initialization. The default output image is u-boot.pbl,

Add support for specifying a differnt CPU for main u-boot and SPL
u-boot builds. This is done by adding an optional SPL CPU after the
main CPU in boards.cfg as follows:
normal_cpu:spl_cpu
This this case CPU will be set to "normal_cpu" during the main u-boot
build and "spl_cpu" during the SPL build.

If the net driver has setup a valid ethernet address and an ethernet
address is not set in the environment already, then set the environment
variables from the net driver setting.
This enables pxe booting on boards which don't set ethaddr env variable.

This patch adds options for all the below mentioned configurations and
subsequently renames the include/configs/spearxxx.h files to spear3xx_evb.h,
spear6xx_evb.h etc to depict evaluation board configuration.
SPEAr3xx and SPEAr6xx boards can be compiled in following configurations
1. Environment placed in NAND
2. Console on usb device
3. Console on usb device with environment placed in NAND
4. SPEAr310 and SPEAr320 support environment variables in parallel

ethaddr can be optionally read from i2c memory. So, chip_config command supports
reading/writing hw mac id into i2c memory. Placing this code within
CONFIG_CMD_NET as this would only be needed when network interface is configured

For syslinux, the initrd can be set in the append string as

A use for this is to read, modify, erase, and write an entire block as a
single unit, as a replacement for the biterr command. This way gives
more flexibility in that you can also test multiple bit errors, errors
in the ECC, etc.

With older toolchains it is possible to not fit entirely into the 45KB
that we had assigned to SPL. Adjust to allow for 8KB of stack (which
should be more than required) and 54KB of text/data.

This adds a basic binding for the oscillator and peripheral clocks. The
second cell is the clock number, defined as the bit number within the clock
enable register if the peripheral clock.

This patch moves hawkboard to the new spl infrastructure from the
older nand_spl one.
Removed the hawkboard_nand_config build option -- The spl code now
gets compiled with hawkboard_config, after building the main u-boot
image, using the CONFIG_SPL_TEXT_BASE. Modified the README.hawkboard
to reflect the same.

Based on discussion from this thread [1].
Adding omap-view port that helps us in using the generic ulpi
framework for any ulpi phy ops using the INSNREG05_ULPI viewport
reg available on omap platform.
Currently ehci ports are available on omap3/4 platforms so enable the same
for beagle and panda, patch is tested on the same boards.
Thanks to Igor Grinberg <grinberg@compulab.co.il> for reviewing the
omap-ehci patches and suggesting this approach.

This allows a driver to run code between nand_scan_ident() and
nand_scan_tail(), among other things. See the additions to
doc/README.nand for details.
To allow a gradual transition, Boards that don't set
CONFIG_SYS_NAND_SELF_INIT will still be initialized the old way, but
new drivers should not require this, and existing drivers should be
converted when convenient.

Existing boards by default have an issue where the LBC SDRAM
SPD EEPROM and the DDR2 SDRAM SPD EEPROM both land at 0x51.
After the hardware modification listed in the README is made,
then the DDR2 SPD EEPROM appears at 0x53. So this implements
a board specific get_spd() by taking advantage of the existing
weak linkage, that 1st tries reading at 0x53 and then if that
fails, it falls back to the old 0x51.
Since the old dependency issue of "SPD implies no LBC SDRAM"
gets removed with the hardware errata fix, remove that restriction
in the code, so both LBC SDRAM and SPD can be selected.

Previously, SPD configuration of RAM was non functional on
this board. Now that the root cause is known (an i2c address
conflict), there is a simple end-user workaround - remove the
old slower local bus 128MB module and then SPD detection on the
main DDR2 memory module works fine.
We make the enablement of the LBC SDRAM support conditional on
being not SPD enabled. We can revisit this dependency as the
hardware workaround becomes available.
Turning off LBC SDRAM support revealed a couple implict dependencies
in the tlb/law code that always expected an LBC SDRAM address.
This has been tested with the default 256MB module, a 512MB
a 1GB and a 2GB, of varying speeds, and the SPD autoconfiguration
worked fine in all cases.
The default configuration remains to go with the hard coded
DDR config, so the default build will continue to work on boards
where people don't bother to read the docs. But the advantage
of going to the SPD config is that even the small default module
gets configured for CL3 instead of CL4.

This board has an 8MB soldered on flash, and a 64MB SODIMM
flash module. Normally the board boots from the 8MB flash,
but the hardware can be configured for booting from the 64MB
flash as well by swapping CS0 and CS6. This can be handy
for recovery purposes, or for supporting u-boot and VxBoot
at the same time.
To support this in u-boot, we need to have different BR0/OR0
and BR6/OR6 settings in place for when the board is configured
in this way, and a different TEXT_BASE needs to be used due
to the larger sector size of the 64MB flash module.
We introduce the suffix _8M and _64M for the BR0/BR6 and the
OR0/OR6 values so it is clear which is being used to map what
specific device.
The larger sector size (512k) of the alternate flash needs
a larger malloc pool, otherwise you'll get failures when
running saveenv, so bump it up accordingly.

The current situation has the 64MB user flash at an awkward
alignment; shifted back from 0xfc00_0000 by 8M, to leave an 8MB hole
for the soldered on boot flash @ EOM. But to switch to optionally
supporting booting off the 64MB flash, the 64MB will then be mapped
at the sane address of 0xfc00_0000.
This leads to awkward things when programming the 64MB flash prior
to transitioning to it -- i.e. even though the chip spans from
0xfb80_0000 to 0xff7f_ffff, you would have to program a u-boot image
into the two sectors from 0xfbf0_0000 --> 0xfbff_ffff so that it was
in the right place when JP12/SW2.8 were switched to make the 64MB on
/CS0. (i.e. the chip is only looking at the bits in mask 0x3ff_ffff)
We also have to have three TLB entries responsible for dealing with
mapping the 64MB flash due to this 8MB of misalignment.
In the end, there is address space from 0xec00_0000 to 0xefff_ffff
where we can map it, and then the transition from booting from one
config to the other will be a simple 0xec --> 0xfc mapping. Plus we
can toss out a TLB entry.
Note that TLB0 is kept at 64MB and not shrunk down to the 8MB boot
flash; this means we won't have to change it when the alternate
config uses the full 64MB for booting, in TLB0.

The new API no longer uses the extra cd parameter that was used to store
the card presence state. Instead, this information is returned via the
function's return value. board_mmc_getcd() returns -1 to indicate that
no card-detection mechanism is implemented; 0 indicates that no card is
present and 1 is returned if it was detected that a card is present.

In summary, the old API was not consistent with the rest of the MMC API
which always passes a struct mmc as the first parameter. Furthermore the
cd parameter was used to mean "card absence" in some implementations and

This adds support for a new environment variable called 'fdtcontroladdr'. If
defined, the hex address is used as the address of the control fdt for U-Boot.
Note: I have not changed CONFIG_PRAM section as I already have an
outstanding patch on that.

This new option allows U-Boot to embed a binary device tree into its image
to allow run-time control of peripherals. This device tree is for U-Boot's
own use and is not necessarily the same one as is passed to the kernel.
The device tree compiler output should be placed in the $(obj)
rooted tree. Since $(OBJCOPY) insists on adding the path to the
generated symbol names, to ensure consistency it should be
invoked from the directory where the .dtb file is located and
given the input file name without the path.
This commit contains my entry for the ugliest Makefile / shell interaction
competition.

Add pxe command, which is intended to mimic PXELINUX functionality.
'pxe get' uses tftp to retrieve a file based on UUID, MAC address or IP
address. 'pxe boot' interprets the contents of PXELINUX config like file
to boot using a specific initrd, kernel and kernel command line.
This patch also adds a README.pxe file - see it for more details on the
pxe command.

Interactive DDR debugging provides a user interface to view and modify SPD,
DIMM parameters, board options and DDR controller registers before DDR is
initialized. With this feature, developers can fine-tune DDR for board
bringup and other debugging without frequently having to reprogram the flash.
To enable this feature, define CONFIG_FSL_DDR_INTERACTIVE in board header
file and set an environment variable to activate it. Syntax:
setenv ddr_interactive on

The first command should be "compute", which reads data from DIMM SPDs and
board options, performs the calculation then stops before setting DDR
controller. A user can use "print" and "edit" commands to view and modify
anything. "Go" picks up from current step with any modification and
compltes the calculation then enables the DDR controller to continue u-boot.
"Recompute" does it over from fresh reading.

This is long over due. All but two net drivers have been converted, but
those have now been dropped.
The only thing left to do is actually delete all references to NET_MULTI
and code that is compiled when that is not defined. So here we scrub the
core code.

The following boards share a common design but with minor variations
between them:
P1020MSBG-PC
P1020RDB-PC
P1020UTM-PC
P1021RDB-PC
P1024RDB
P1025RDB
P2020RDB-PC
The P1020RDB-PC shares its roots in the existing P1020RDB board design,
however uses DDR3 instead of DDR2.
P2020RDB-PC differs from the P102x RDB-PC with 64-bit DDR and 100Mhz SYSCLK.
Key features on these boards include:
* DDR3
* NOR flash
* NAND flash (on RDB's only)
* SPI flash (on RDB's only)
* SDHC/MMC card slot
* VSC7385 Ethernet switch (on P1020MBG, P1020RDB, & P1021RDB)
* PCIE slot and mini-PCIE slots
As these boards use soldered DDR chips not regular DIMMs, an on-board EEPROM
is used to store SPD data. In case of absent or corrupted SPD, falling back
to timing data embedded in the source code will be used. Raw timing data is
extracted from DDR chip datasheet. Different speeds of DDR are supported
with this approach. ODT option is forced to fit this set of boards, again
because they don't have regular DIMMs.
CONFIG_SYS_EEPROM_PAGE_WRITE_DELAY_MS is defined as 5ms to meet
specification for writing timing.
VSC firmware Address is defined by default in config file for eTSEC1.
SD width is based off DIP switch. DIP switch is detected on the
board by reading i2c bus and setting the appropriate mux values.
Some boards have QE module in the silicon (P1021 and P1025). QE and eLBC
have pins multiplexing. QE function needs to be disabled to access Nor Flash
and CPLD. QE-UEC and QE-UART can be enabled for linux kernel by setting "qe"
in hwconfig. In addition, QE-UEC and QE-TDM also have pins multiplexing, to
enable QE-TDM for linux kernel, set "qe;tdm" in hwconfig. Syntax is as below
'setenv hwconfig qe' to enable QE UEC/UART and disable Nor-Flash/CPLD.
'setenv hwconfig 'qe;tdm'' to enalbe QE TDM and disable Nor-Flash/CPLD.

c2dd0d4554 added dcache_enable()
to board_init_r(). This enables d-cache for all ARM boards.
As a result some of the arm boards that are not cache-ready
are broken. Revert this change and allow platform code to
take the decision on d-cache enabling.
Also add some documentation for cache usage in ARM.

This is a port of the official PLL errata workaround from Freescale to
mainline u-boot.
The PLL's in the i.MX51 processor can go out of lock due to a metastable
condition in an analog flip-flop when used at high frequencies.
This workaround implements an undocumented feature in the PLL (dither
mode), which causes the effect of this failure to be much lower (in terms
of frequency deviation), avoiding system failure, or at least decreasing
the likelihood of system failure.

Add another nand write. variant, trimffs. This command will request of
nand_write_skip_bad() that all trailing all-0xff pages will be
dropped from eraseblocks when they are written to flash as-per the
reccommended behaviour of the UBI FAQ [1].
The function that implements this timming is the drop_ffs() function
by Artem Bityutskiy, ported from the mtd-utils tree.

it is possible to get the relocation address from the gd->relocaddr
since gd is always in r8 (on ARM) it is addressable before the
gdb has remapped symbols.
Document this alternate method in-line with the original method
written by Heiko Schocher.

The bdinfo command prints the relocaddr on ARM as it does
on PPC.
Update the debugging instructions for arm relocation to
reflect this fact rather than requiring that the user
rebuild the u-boot image using -DDEBUG.

Add function video_get_video_mode(), which parses the "video-mode" environment
variable and returns each of its components. The format matches the video=
command-line option used for Linux:
video-mode=<driver>:<xres>x<yres>-<depth>@<freq><,option=string>
<driver> The video driver, ignored by U-Boot
<xres> The X resolution (in pixels) to use.
<yres> The Y resolution (in pixels) to use.

This adds support for using USB Ethernet dongles in host mode. This is just
the framework - drivers will come later. A new config option called
CONFIG_USB_HOST_ETHER can be defined in board config files to switch this
on.
The was originally written by NVIDIA and was cleaned up for release by the
Chromium authors.

The patch adds suupport for the Freescale's mx35pdk board
(known as well as mx35_3stack).
The board boots from the NOR flash. Following devices
are supported:
- two ethernet devices (FEC and SMC911x on debug board)
- I2C
- PMIC (MC13892) via I2C interface
- UART
- NOR flash (64MB)
- NAND flash (2GB)
- basic access to mc9sdz60 registers via I2C interface

Added fsl_ddr_get_version() function to for DDR3 to poll DDRC IP version
(major, minor, errata) to determine if unique mode registers are available.
If true, always use unique mode registers. Dynamic ODT is enabled if needed.
The table is documented in doc/README.fsl-ddr. This function may also need
to be extend for future other platforms if such a feature exists.
Enable address parity and RCW by default for RDIMMs.
Change default output driver impedance from 34 ohm to 40ohm. Make it 34ohm for
quad-rank RDIMMs.
Use a formula to calculate rodt_on for timing_cfg_5.

Add fsl_ddr:ecc=on in hwconfig. If ECC is enabled in board configuration file,
ECC can be turned on/off by this switch. If this switch is omitted, it is ON by
default.
Updated hwconfig calls to use local buffer.

By default, "-" chars are interpreted as hyphens (U+2010) by groff, not
as minus signs (U+002D). Since options to programs use minus signs
(U+002D), this means for example in UTF-8 locales that you cannot cut
and paste options, nor search for them easily.

The patch adds basic board support for TI's OMAP-L138 based
Hawkboard. This board is pretty similar to the da850 EVM. Support for
nand and network access is added in this version.
The following bootup procedure is used.
At reset, the Rom Boot Loader(RBL), initialises the ddr and the nand
controllers and copies the second stage bootloader(nand_spl) to
RAM. The secondary bootloader then copies u-boot from a predefined
location in the nand flash to the RAM, and passes control to the
u-boot image.
Three config options are supported
* hawkboard_config - Used to create the u-boot.bin. Tftp the
u-boot.bin image to the RAM from u-boot, and flash to the nand flash
at address 0xe0000.
* hawkboard_nand_config - Used to generate the secondary
bootloader(nand_spl) image. This creates an elf file u-boot-spl
under nand_spl/. Create an AIS signed image using this file, and
flash it to the nand flash at address 0x20000. The ais file should
fit in one block.
* hawkboard_uart_config - This is same as the first image, but with
the TEXT_BASE as expected by the RBL(0xc1080000). Create the AIS

The TI DA850/OMAP-L138/AM18x EVM can be populated with devices
having different maximum allowed CPU clock rating.
The maximum clock the chip can support can only be determined from
the label on the package (not software readable).
Introduce a method to pass the maximum allowed clock rate information
to kernel using ATAG_REVISION. The kernel uses this information to
determine the maximum cpu clock rate reachable using cpufreq.
Note that U-Boot itself does not set the CPU clock rate. The CPU
clock is setup by a primary bootloader ("UBL"). The rate setup by
UBL could be different from the maximum clock rate supported by the
device.

When this define was introduced, the idea was to provide a soft
migration path for ARM boards to get adapted to the new relocation
support. However, other recent changes led to a different
implementation (ELF relocation), where this no longer works. By now
CONFIG_SYS_ARM_WITHOUT_RELOC does not only not help any more, but it
actually hurts because it obfuscates the actual code by sprinkling it
with lots of dead and non-working debris.
So let's make a clean cut and drop CONFIG_SYS_ARM_WITHOUT_RELOC.

By now, the majority of architectures have working relocation
support, so the few remaining architectures have become exceptions.
To make this more obvious, we make working relocation now the default
case, and flag the remaining cases with CONFIG_NEEDS_MANUAL_RELOC.

Add the ability to not report an I2C POST error for a set of given I2C
addresses on bootup. This is useful for cases when a device may or may
not be present, and neither case is considered an error. For example:
- Some form factors such as XMC and Compact PCI Express have an I2C
EEPROM whose address changes based on geographical address. Eg
installed in one slot its EEPROM address is, 0x50, in another its
0x51, etc. This allows multiple devices to have their EEPROMs present
on the same I2C bus. Thus the I2C devices present for an XMC or
CPCIe card depend on if and where other cards are installed in the
same system.
- Some cards have optional I2C devices. Eg one hardware build
configuration has different I2C devices than another and software
can't determine if the optional device should be present or not.
- Some cards have optional daughtercards with I2C devices on them.
- I2C EEPROMs address range depends on their size. Its possible to
support differently size EEPROMs by only probing the EEPROM's base
address and ignoring the other addresses that are impacted by its
size.
A new CONFIG_SYS_POST_I2C_IGNORES define has been added which specifies
a list of I2C addresses for the I2C POST to ignore.

The memory test is performed after DDR initialization when U-boot stills runs
in flash and cache. On recent mpc85xx platforms, the total memory can be more
than 2GB. To cover whole memory, it needs be mapped 2GB at a time using a
sliding TLB window. After the testing, DDR is remapped with up to 2GB memory
from the lowest address as normal.
If memory test fails, DDR DIMM SPD and DDR controller registers are dumped for
further debugging.

We now also automatically pick all boards that are listed in
boards.cfg (and with all configurations), so we can drop the redundant
entries from MAKEALL to avoid building these twice.

The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board
configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by
a simple, table driven script.
Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is
also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to
a Kconfig driven configuration system.

ELF relocation tables generated with linker option -pie can
be used to fixup code and data in a single loop at relocation,
removing the need for manual fixups anywhere else in the code.

Split the display command into generic interface and hardware-specific
realization for PDSP188x LED display found on hmi1001 and manroland
boards. Simple interface for LED displays is defined in
include/led-display.h and described in doc/README.LED_display.
Driver-specific implementation was moved into drivers/misc/pdsp188x.c
file (enabled with CONFIG_PDSP188x set).

The Freescale P1022DS can use either a 12.288MHz or a 11.2896MHz reference
clock for the audio codec, but by default both are disabled. Add a 'audclk'
hwconfig option that allows the user to choose which clock he wants.
The 12.288MHz clock allows the codec to use sampling rates of 16, 24, 32, 48,
64, and 96KHz. The 11.2896 clock allows 14700, 22050, 29400, 44100, 58800, and
88200Hz.
Also configure a pin muxing to select some SSI signals, which will disable
I2C1.

Change the implementation for arm926 to relocate the code to
an arbitrary address in RAM.
Adapt the TX25 (i.MX25), magnesium board to test the changes.
On the tx25 board TEXT_BASE is set to the final relocation
address to prevent one more copying of u-boot code
when relocating. More info see:

The hush shell dynamically allocates (and re-allocates) memory for the
argument strings in the "char *argv[]" argument vector passed to
commands. Any code that modifies these pointers will cause serious
corruption of the malloc data structures and crash U-Boot, so make
sure the compiler can check that no such modifications are being done
by changing the code into "char * const argv[]".
This modification is the result of debugging a strange crash caused
after adding a new command, which used the following argument
processing code which has been working perfectly fine in all Unix
systems since version 6 - but not so in U-Boot:

The "-ffixed-r15" option doesn't work well for gcc4. Since we
don't use gp for small data with option "-G0", we can use gp
as global data pointer. This allows compiler to use r15. It
is necessary for gcc4 to work properly.

Add a new function to the eth_device struct for programming a network
controller's hardware address.
After all network devices have been initialized and the proper MAC address
for each has been determined, make a device driver call to program the
address into the device. Only device instances with valid unicast addresses
will be programmed.

As discussed on the list, move "arch/ppc" to "arch/powerpc" to
better match the Linux directory structure.
Please note that this patch also changes the "ppc" target in
MAKEALL to "powerpc" to match this new infrastructure. But "ppc"
is kept as an alias for now, to not break compatibility with
scripts using this name.

The CPUDIR variable points to the location of a target's CPU directory.
Currently, it is set to cpu/$CPU. However, using $CPUDIR will allow for
more flexibility in the future. It lays the groundwork for reorganizing
U-Boot's directory structure to support a layout such as:
arch/$ARCH/cpu/$CPU/* (architecture with multiple CPU types)
arch/$ARCH/cpu/* (architecture with one CPU type)

The ramdisk sections in doc/uImage.FIT/multi.its lack
load address and entry point properties. Using examples
from this file will result in unbootable image, u-boot
will issue the following error messages:
Can't get ramdisk subimage load address!
Ramdisk image is corrupt or invalid
This patch adds missing properties to ramdisk sections.

This patch adds support for "imximage" (MX Boot Image)
to the mkimage utility. The imximage is used on the Freescales's
MX.25, MX.35 and MX.51 processors.

The core support for NAND booting is there already, so this patch
is pretty straightforward.
There is one trick though: top level Makefile expects nand_spl to
be in nand_spl/board/$(BOARDDIR), but we can fully reuse the code
from mpc8313erdb boards, and so to not duplicate the code we just
symlink nand_spl/board/freescale/mpc8315erdb to mpc8313erdb.

The example FIT image source files do not compile with the latest dtc and
mkimage. The following error message is produced:
DTC: dts->dtb on file "kernel.its"

FATAL ERROR: Unable to parse input tree
./mkimage: Can't read kernel.itb.tmp: Invalid argument
The FIT image source files are missing the "/dts-v1/;" directive at the
beginning of the file. Add the directive to the examples.

This feature is useful when your board uses different mii buses for different
phys and all (or a part) of these buses are implemented via bit-banging mode.
The driver requires that the following macros should be defined into the board
configuration file:
CONFIG_BITBANGMII - Enable the miiphybb driver
CONFIG_BITBANGMII_MULTI - Enable the multi bus support
If the CONFIG_BITBANGMII_MULTI is not defined, the board's config file needs
to define at least the following macros:
MII_INIT - Generic code to enable the MII bus (optional)
MDIO_DECLARE - Declaration needed to access to the MDIO pin (optional)
MDIO_ACTIVE - Activate the MDIO pin as out pin
MDIO_TRISTATE - Activate the MDIO pin as input/tristate pin
MDIO_READ - Read the MDIO pin
MDIO(v) - Write v on the MDIO pin
MDC_DECLARE - Declaration needed to access to the MDC pin (optional)
MDC(v) - Write v on the MDC pin
The previous macros make the driver compatible with the previous version
(that didn't support the multi-bus).
When the CONFIG_BITBANGMII_MULTI is also defined, the board code needs to fill
the bb_miiphy_buses[] array with a record for each required bus and declare
the bb_miiphy_buses_num variable with the number of mii buses.
The record (struct bb_miiphy_bus) has the following fields/callbacks (see
miiphy.h for details):
char name[] - The symbolic name that must be equal to the MII bus
registered name
int (*init)() - Initialization function called at startup time (just
before the Ethernet initialization)
int (*mdio_active)() - Activate the MDIO pin as output
int (*mdio_tristate)() - Activate the MDIO pin as input/tristate pin

By nature of being based off the MPC8548CDS board, this
board inherited an ENV_SIZE setting of 256k. But since
it has a smaller flash device (8MB soldered on), it has
a native sector size of 128k, and hence the ENV_SIZE was
causing 2 sectors to be used for the environment.
By removing the unused sector, we can push TEXT_BASE up
closer to the end of address space and reclaim that
sector for any other application. This also fixes the
mismatch between TEXT_BASE and MONITOR_LEN reported by
Kumar earlier.
Since this board also supports the ability to boot off
the 64MB SODIMM flash, this change is forward looking
with that in mind; i.e. the settings for MONITOR_LEN
and ENV_SIZE will work when the 512k sectors of the
SODIMM flash are used for alternate boot in the future.

The previous README.sbc8548 was pretty much content-free. Replace
it with something that actually gives the end user some relevant
hardware details, and also lists the u-boot configuration choices.
Also in the cosmetic department, fix the bogus line in the Makefile
that was carried over from the SBC8560 Makefile, and the typo in
the sbc8548.c copyright.

The more standard 'source' command provides identical functionality to
the autoscr command.
Environment variable names/values on the MVBC_P, MVBML7, kmeter1,
mgcoge, and km8xx boards are updated to no longer refernce 'autoscr'.
The 'autoscript' and 'autoscript_uname' environment variables are
also removed.

The standard netcat, while ubiquitous, doesn't handle broadcast udp packets
properly. The local ncb util does however. So if ncb can be located in
the standard locations, automatically use that instead.

Since the Blackfin ABI favors higher scratch registers by default, use the
last scratch register (P3) for global data rather than the first (P5).
This allows the compiler's register allocator to use higher number scratch
P registers, which in turn better matches the Blackfin instruction set,
which reduces the size of U-Boot by more than 1024 bytes...

The code base adds P1 & P2 RDB platforms support.
The folder and file names can cater to future SOCs of P1/P2 family.
P1 & P2 processors are 85xx platforms, part of Freescale QorIQ series.

Prior to this commit, to enable PCI, you had to go manually
edit the board config header, which isn't really user friendly.
This adds the typical PCI make targets to the toplevel Makefile
in accordance with what is being done with other boards.

Up to this point in time, the sbc8349 board was storing the u-boot
image in flash 2x. One for the HRCW value at the beginning of
flash (0xff80_0000), and once close to the end of flash (0xfff8_0000)
for the actual image that got executed.
This moves the TEXT_BASE to be the beginning of flash, which makes
the second copy of the image redundant, and frees up the flash
from the end of the environment storage to the end of the flash
device itself.

- update to 2009-06 (Pieter's patch was for U-Boot 1.2.0)
- README.dns is added
- syntax is changed (now takes a third option, the env var to store
the result in)
- add a random port() function in net.c
- sort Makefile in ./net/Makefile
- dns just returns unless a env var is given
- run through checkpatch, and clean up style issues
- remove packet from stack
- cleaned up some comments
- failure returns much faster (if server responds, don't wait for
timeout)
- use built in functions (memcpy) rather than byte copy.

Legacy NAND had been scheduled for removal. Any boards that use this
were already not building in the previous release due to an #error.
The disk on chip code in common/cmd_doc.c relies on legacy NAND,
and it has also been removed. There is newer disk on chip code
in drivers/mtd/nand; someone with access to hardware and sufficient
time and motivation can try to get that working, but for now disk
on chip is not supported.

Remove CONFIG_SYS_DAVINCI_BROKEN_ECC option. It's not just nasty;
it's also unused by any current boards, and doesn't even match the
main U-Boot distributions from TI (which use soft ECC, or 4-bit ECC
on newer chips that support it).
DaVinci GIT kernels since 2.6.24, and mainline Linux since 2.6.30,
match non-BROKEN code paths for 1-bit HW ECC. The BROKEN code paths
do seem to partially match what MontaVista/TI kernels (4.0/2.6.10,
and 5.0/2.6.18) do ... but only for small pages. Large page support
is really broken (and it's unclear just what software it was trying
to match!), and the ECC layout was making three more bytes available
for use by filesystem (or whatever) code.
Since this option itself seems broken, remove it. Add a comment
about the MV/TI compat issue, and the most straightforward way to
address it (should someone really need to solve it).

The following individual I2C commands have been removed: imd, imm, inm,

The functionality of the individual commands is still available via

Mflash is fusion memory device mainly targeted consumer eletronic and
mobile phone.
Internally, it have nand flash and other hardware logics and supports
some different operation (ATA, IO, XIP) modes.
IO mode is custom mode for the host that doesn't have IDE interface.
(Many mobile targeted SoC doesn't have IDE bus)
This driver support mflash IO mode.
Followings are brief descriptions about IO mode.
1. IO mode based on ATA protocol and uses some custom command. (read
confirm, write confirm)
2. IO mode uses SRAM bus interface.

Legacy NAND is marked for feature removal after April 2009 (i.e. this
upcoming release). There are still several boards that reference it
(though many do so only for disk-on-chip support which has been silently
disabled for a while now). These boards will now fail to build
with #error, though the code is still there if the user removes #error.
The plan is to remove the code outright in the next release, along with
any board code that refers to it (such as board/esd/common/auto_update.c).
Also, remove the legacy NAND API description from README.nand.

According to the doc/feature-removal-schedule.txt, the "autoscr"
command will be replaced by the "source" command in approximately 6
months from now.
This patch prepares this change and starts a 6 month transition
period as follows:
- The new "source" command has been added, which implements exactly
the same functionlaity as the old "autoscr" command before
- The old "autoscr" command name is kept as an alias for compatibility
- Command sequences, script files atc. have been adapted to use the
new "source" command
- Related environment variables ("autoscript", "autoscript_uname")
have *not* been adapted yet; these will be renamed resp. removed in
a separate patch when the support for the "autoscr" command get's
finally dropped.

The NMDK8815 board is distributed by ST Microelectornics.
Other (proprietary) code must be run to unlock the CPU before
U-Boot runs. doc/README.nmdk8815 outlines the boot sequence.
This is the initial port, with basic infrastructure and
a working serial port.

This patch will create a new board, SIMPC8313, from Sheldon Instruments. This
board boots from NAND devices and is configureable for either large or small
page devices. The board supports non-soldered DDR2, one ethernet port, a
Marvell 88E1118 PHY, and PCI host support. The board also has a FPGA connected
to the eLBC providing glue logic to a TMS320C67xx DSP.

This patch renames NAND_MAX_CHIPS to CONFIG_SYS_NAND_MAX_CHIPS and
changes the default from 8 to 1 for the legacy and the new MTD
NAND layer. This allows to remove all NAND_MAX_CHIPS definitions
in the board config files because none of the boards use multi
chip support (NAND_MAX_CHIPS > 1) so far. The bamboo and the DU440
define
#define NAND_MAX_CHIPS CONFIG_SYS_MAX_NAND_DEVICE
but that's bogus and did not work anyhow.

While the doc/README.NetConsole does have a snippet for people to
create their own netcat script, it's a lot easier to make a simple
dedicated script and tell people to use it.

Modifications to support console multiplexing. This is controlled using
CONFIG_SYS_CONSOLE_MUX in the board configuration file.
This allows a user to specify multiple console devices in the environment
with a command like this: setenv stdin serial,nc. As a result, the user can
enter text on both the serial and netconsole interfaces.
All devices - stdin, stdout and stderr - can be set in this manner.
1) common/iomux.c and include/iomux.h contain the environment setting
implementation.
2) doc/README.iomux contains a somewhat more detailed description.
3) The implementation in (1) is called from common/cmd_nvedit.c to
handle setenv and from common/console.c to handle initialization of
input/output devices at boot time.
4) common/console.c also contains the code needed to poll multiple console
devices for input and send output to all devices registered for output.
5) include/common.h includes iomux.h and common/Makefile generates iomux.o
when CONFIG_SYS_CONSOLE_MUX is set.

This patch creates a memory map with all the devices
in 36-bit physical space, in addition to the 32-bit map.
The CCSR relocation is moved (again, sorry) to
allow for the physical address to be 36 bits - this
requires translation to be enabled. With 36-bit physical
addressing enabled, we are no longer running with VA=PA
translations. This means we have to distinguish between
the two in the config file. The existing region name is
used to indicate the virtual address, and a _PHYS variety
is created to represent the physical address.
Large physical addressing is not enabled by default.
Set CONFIG_PHYS_64BIT in the config file to turn this on.

The memory map on the 8641hpcn is modified to look more like
the 85xx boards; this is a step towards a more standardized
layout going forward. As part of this change, we now relocate
the flash.
The regions for some of the mappings were far larger than they
needed to be. I have reduced the mappings to match the
actual sizes supported by the hardware.
In addition I have removed the comments at the head
of the BAT blocks in the config file, rather than updating
them. These get horribly out of date, and it's a simple
matter to look at the defines to see what they are set to
since everything is right here in the same file.
Documentation has been changed to reflect the new map, as this
change is user visible, and affects the OS which runs post-uboot.

The auto-update feature allows to automatically download software updates
from a TFTP server and store them in Flash memory during boot. Updates are
contained in a FIT file and protected with SHA-1 checksum.

The i.MX31 has three SPI buses and each bus has several chip selects
and the MC13783 chip can be connected to any of these. The current
RTC driver for MC13783 is hardcoded for CSPI2/SS2.
This patch makes make MC13783 SPI bus and chip select configurable
via CONFIG_MC13783_SPI_BUS and CONFIG_MC13783_SPI_CS.

U-boot's HW ECC support for large page NAND on Davinci is completely
broken. Some kernels, such as the 2.6.10 one supported by
MontaVista for DaVinci, rely upon this broken behaviour as they
share the same code for ECCs. In the existing scheme, error
detection *might* work on large page, but error correction
definitely does not. Small page ECC correction works, but the
format is not compatible with the mainline git kernel.
This patch adds ECC code that matches what is currently in the
Davinci git repository (since NAND support was added in 2.6.24).
This makes the ECC and OOB layout written by u-boot compatible with
Linux for both small page and large page devices and fixes ECC
correction for large page devices.
The old behaviour can be restored by defining the macro
CFG_DAVINCI_BROKEN_ECC, which is undefined by default.

- Separate the portmux configuration functionality from the GPIO pin
control API.
- Separate the controller-specific code from the chip-specific code.
- Allow "ganged" port configuration (multiple pins at once).
- Add more flexibility to the "canned" peripheral select functions:
- Allow using more than 23 address bits, more chip selects, as
well as NAND- and CF-specific pins.
- Make the MACB SPEED pin optional, and choose between MII/RMII
using a parameter instead of an #ifdef.
- Make it possible to use other MMC slots than slot 0, and support
different MMC/SDCard data bus widths.
- Use more reasonable pull-up defaults; floating pins may consume a
lot of power.
- Get rid of some custom portmux code from the mimc200 board code. The
old gpio/portmux API couldn't really handle its requirements, but
the new one can.
- Add documentation.
The end result is slightly smaller code for all boards. Which isn't
really the point, but at least it isn't any larger.
This has been verified on ATSTK1002 and ATNGW100. I'd appreciate if
the board maintainers could help me test this on their boards. In
particular, the mimc200 port has lost a lot of code, so I'm hoping Mark
can help me out.

U-Boot allows for configurable prompt strings using the
CONFIG_AUTOBOOT_PROMPT resp. CONFIG_MENUPROMPT definitions. So far,
the assumption was that any such user defined problts would contain
exactly one "%d" format specifier. But some boards did not.
To allow for flexible boot prompts without adding too complex code we
now allow to specify the whole list of printf() arguments in the user
definition. This is powerful, but requires a responsible user who
really understands what he is doing, as he needs to know for exanple
which variables are available in the respective context.

This commit gets rid of a huge amount of silly white-space issues.
Especially, all sequences of SPACEs followed by TAB characters get
removed (unless they appear in print statements).
Also remove all embedded "vim:" and "vi:" statements which hide
indentation problems.

This patch contains updates for changes for the Korat PPC440EPx board.
These changes include:
(1) Support for "permanent" and "upgradable" copies of U-Boot, as
described in the new "doc/README.korat" file;
(2) a new memory map for the registers in the board's CPLD;
(3) a revised format for manufacturer's data in serial EEPROM; and

R29 was an unlucky choice as with recent toolchains (gcc-4.2.x) gcc
will refuse to use load/store multiple insns; instead, it issues a
list of simple load/store instructions upon function entry and exit,
resulting in bigger code size, which in turn makes the build for a
few boards fail.
Use r2 instead.

MPC8323E based board with 64MB fixed SDRAM, 16MB flash,
five 10/100 ethernet ports connected via an ICPlus IP175C

Move the 8641HPCN's PIXIS code to the new directory
board/freescale/common/ as it will be shared by
future boards not in the same processor family.
Write a "pixis_reset" command that utilizes the FPGA
reset sequencer to support alternate soft-reset options
such as using the "alternate" flash bank, enabling
the watch dog, or choosing different CPU frequencies.
Add documentation for the pixis_reset to README.mpc8641hpcn.

Add support for the MPC8349E-mITX-GP, a stripped-down version of the
MPC8349E-mITX. Bonus features include support for low-boot (BMS bit in
HRCW is 0) for the ITX and a README for the ITX and the ITX-GP.

I've redone the SBC8349 support to match git-current, which
incorporates all the MPC834x updates from Freescale since the 1.1.6
release, including the DDR changes.
I've kept all the SBC8349 files as parallel as possible to the
MPC8349EMDS ones for ease of maintenance and to allow for easy
inspection of what was changed to support this board. Hence the SBC8349
U-Boot has FDT support and everything else that the MPC8349EMDS has.
Fortunately the Freescale updates added support for boards using CS0,
but I had to change spd_sdram.c to allow for board specific settings for
the sdram_clk_cntl (it is/was hard coded to zero, and that remains the
default if the board doesn't specify a value.)
Hopefully this should be mergeable as-is and require no whitespace
cleanups or similar, but if something doesn't measure up then let me
know and I'll fix it.

This patch supports two serial consoles on boards with
a MPC5xxx CPU. The console can be switched at runtime
by setting stdin, stdout and stderr to the desired serial
interface (serial0 or serial1). The PSCs to be used as
console port are definded by CONFIG_PSC_CONSOLE
