d646420e29 clk: add APIs to get (optional) clock by name without a device
Sometimes we may need get (optional) clock without a device,
that means use ofnode.
e.g. when the phy node has subnode, and there is no device created
for subnode, in this case, we need these new APIs to get subnode's
clock.

fddf876a8f mpc83xx_clk: always treat MPC83XX_CLK_PCI as invalid
The current mpc83xx_clk driver is broken for any board for which
mpc83xx_has_pci() is true, i.e. anything not MPC8308:

When is_clk_valid() reports that MPC83XX_CLK_PCI is valid,
init_all_clks() proceeds to call init_single_clk(), but that doesn't
know about either MPC83XX_CLK_PCI or has any handling of the
TYPE_SCCR_ONOFF mode correctly returned by retrieve_mode(). Hence
init_single_clk() ends up returning -EINVAL, and the whole board hangs
in serial_init().

The quickest fix is to simply pretend that clock is invalid for
all, since nobody can have been relying on it. Adding proper support
seems to be a bit more involved than just handling TYPE_SCCR_ONOFF:

- The power-on-reset value of SCCR[PCICM] is 0, so
  mpc83xx_clk_enable() would probably need to be tought to enable the
  clock.

- The frequency of PCI_SYNC_OUT is either SYS_CLK_IN or SYS_CLK_IN/2
  depending on the CFG_CLKIN_DIV configuration input, but that can't
  be read from software, so to properly fill out
  ->speed[MPC83XX_CLK_PCI] I think one would need guidance from
  Kconfig or dtb.

Partially fixes: 07d538d281 clk: Add MPC83xx clock driver

b2b1100a3b aspeed: ast2500: Read clock ofdata in the correct method
At present the clock driver reads its ofdata in the probe() method. This
is not correct although it is often harmless.

However in this case it causes a problem, something like this:

- ast_get_scu() is called (from somewhere) to get the SCI address
- this probes the clock
   - first sets up ofdata (which does nothing at present)
   - DM marks clock device as active
   - DM calls pinctrl
      - pinctrl probes and calls ast_get_scu() in ast2500_pinctrl_probe()
      - ast_get_scu() probes the clock, but sees it already marked as
           probed
      - ast_get_scu() accesses the clock's private data, with scu as NULL
   - DM calls clock probe function ast2500_clk_probe() which reads scu

By putting the read of scu into the correct method, scu is read as part of
ofdata setup, and everything is OK.

Note: This problem did not matter until now since DM always probed all
parents before reading a child's ofdata. The fact that pinctrl is a child
of clock seems to trigger this strange bug.

fd1ba29652 drivers: clk: Fix using assigned-clocks in the node of the clock it sets up
This fixes the case where assigned-clocks is used to define a clock
defaults inside this same clock's node. This is used sometimes to setup a
default parents and/or rate for a clock.

example:
muxed_clock: muxed_clock {
	clocks = <&clk_provider 0>, <&clk_provider 1>;
	#clock-cells = <0>;
	assigned-clocks = <&muxed_clock>;
	assigned-clock-parents = <&clk_provider 1>;
};

It doesn't work in u-boot because the assigned-clocks are setup *before*
the clock is probed. (clk_set_parent() will likely crash or fail if called
before the device probe function)
Making it work by handling "assigned-clocks" in 2 steps: first before the
clk device is probed, and then after the clk device is probed.

1d7993d1d0 clk: Port Linux common clock framework [CCF] for imx6q to U-boot (tag: v5.1.12)
This patch brings the files from Linux kernel (linux-stable/linux-5.1.y
SHA1: 5752b50477da)to provide clocks support as it is used on the Linux
kernel with Common Clock Framework [CCF] setup.

The directory structure has been preserved. The ported code only supports
reading information from PLL, MUX, Divider, etc and enabling/disabling
the clocks USDHCx/ECSPIx depending on used bus. Moreover, it is agnostic
to the alias numbering as the information about the clock is read from the
device tree.

One needs to pay attention to the comments indicating necessary for U-Boot's
driver model changes.

If needed, the code can be extended to support the "set" part of the clock
management.

Getting a CLK by index with device is not straight forward
for some use-cases like handling clock operations for child

db2f696147 clk: sifive: fu540-prci: Change include order
Like clk_get_by_index, there is requirement for
clk_get_by_index_nodev. In this case to make common
code functionalities for dev and nodev, clk_get_by_index
is trying to get the index of clock by passing ofnode
instead of actual dev like current gpio uclass does.

In these scenarios with current order of include files
the fu540-prci driver is unable to find CONFIG_ENV_SIZE.

In file included from arch/riscv/include/asm/u-boot.h:23:0,
                 from include/dm/of.h:10,
                 from include/dm/ofnode.h:12,
                 from include/clk.h:11,
                 from include/clk-uclass.h:13,
                 from drivers/clk/sifive/fu540-prci.c:32:
include/environment.h:145:19: error: 'CONFIG_ENV_SIZE'
undeclared here (not in a function); did you mean 'CONFIG_CMD_XIMG'?
 #define ENV_SIZE (CONFIG_ENV_SIZE - ENV_HEADER_SIZE)

So, fix consists of changing the order of include files
in fu540-prci.c to include first common.h file.

13b0867dc3 sunxi: clk: enable clk and reset for CCU devices
Some Allwinner clock devices have parent clocks and reset gates itself,
which need to be activated for them to work.

Add some code to just assert all resets and enable all clocks given.
This should enable the A80 MMC config clock, which requires both to be
activated. The full CCU devices typically don't require resets, and have
just fixed clocks as their parents. Since we treat both as optional and
enabling fixed clocks is a NOP, this works for all cases, without the need
to differentiate between those clock types.

291da96b8e clk: Allow clock defaults to be set during re-reloc state for SPL only
In commit e5e06b65ad ("clk: Allow clock defaults to be set also
during re-reloc state") the earlier guard against setting clock
defaults in pre-reloc state was removed. While it is easy to filter
'assigned-clocks' properties for SPL using CONFIG_OF_SPL_REMOVE_PROPS,
no such mechanism exists for the pre-reloc stage of the full U-Boot.

With the default defconfig for the RK3399-Q7 (which filter the
'assigned-clocks' property for the DTS used by SPL anyway), this
caused a pause during startup of the full U-Boot stage that lasted for
almost 10s (due to the CPU not having been clocked up yet).

This reintroduces the guard from commit f4fcba5c5b ("clk: Allow
clock defaults to be set also during re-reloc state") and extends it
to only apply outside of a TPL/SPL build: i.e. clk_set_defaults will
now run in pre-reloc state for SPL, but only after reloc for the full
U-Boot.

e25080664a clk: Remove DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in various drivers
When a driver declares DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag, it wishes to be
bound before relocation. However due to a bug in the DM core,
the flag only takes effect when devices are statically declared
via U_BOOT_DEVICE(). This bug has been fixed recently by commit
"dm: core: Respect drivers with the DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in
lists_bind_fdt()", but with the fix, it has a side effect that
all existing drivers that declared DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag will
be bound before relocation now. This may expose potential boot
failure on some boards due to insufficient memory during the
pre-relocation stage.

To mitigate this potential impact, the following changes are
implemented:

- Remove DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in the driver, if the driver
  only supports configuration from device tree (OF_CONTROL)
- Keep DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in the driver only if the device
  is statically declared via U_BOOT_DEVICE()
- Surround DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag with OF_CONTROL check, for
  drivers that support both statically declared devices and
  configuration from device tree

achieved by the means of different TI SCI device operations provided by

82a248df9a driver: clk: Add support for clocks on Armada 37xx
The drivers are based on Linux driver by Gregory Clement.

The TBG clocks support only the .get_rate method.
  - since setting rate is not supported, the driver computes the rates
    when probing and so subsequent calls to the .get_rate method do not
    read the corresponding registers again

The peripheral clocks support methods .get_rate, .enable and .disable.

  - the .set_parent method theoretically could be supported on some clocks
    (the parent would have to be one of the TBG clocks)

  - the .set_rate method would have to try all the divider values to find
    the best approximation of a given rate, and it doesn't seem like
    this should be needed in U-Boot, therefore not implemented

4549e789c1 SPDX: Convert all of our multiple license tags to Linux Kernel style
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and
there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the
area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it
with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the
Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first
line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line)
and with slightly different comment styles than us.

In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility
and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style.

This commit changes all instances where we have multiple licenses (in
these cases, dual license) declared in the SPDX-License-Identifier tag.
In this case we change from listing "LICENSE-A LICENSE-B" or "LICENSE-A
or LICENSE-B" or "(LICENSE-A OR LICENSE-B)" to "LICENSE-A OR LICENSE-B"
as per the Linux Kernel style document. Note that parenthesis are
allowed so when they were used before we continue to use them.

b0ba1e7e9d rockchip: clk: rk3288: add clk_enable function and support USB HOST0/HSIC
The generic ehci-driver (ehci-generic.c) will try to enable the clocks
listed in the DTSI. If this fails (e.g. due to clk_enable not being
implemented in a driver and -ENOSYS being returned by the clk-uclass),
the driver will bail our and print an error message.

This implements a minimal clk_enable for the RK3288 and supports the
clocks mandatory for the EHCI controllers; as these are enabled by

The device-tree node for the PMU clk controller assigns to its parent
(i.e. PLL_PPLL) even though this clock currently is set up statically
by an init-function.

In order to avoid unexpected failures, a simple implementation of
set_rate (which accepts requests, but notifies the caller of the
preset frequency in its return value) and get_rate (which always
returns the preset frequency) are added.

Note that this is required for the RK808 PMIC to probe successfully on

f4fcba5c5b clk: implement clk_set_defaults()
Linux uses the properties 'assigned-clocks', 'assigned-clock-parents'
and 'assigned-clock-rates' to configure the clock subsystem for use
with various peripheral nodes.

This implements clk_set_defaults() and hooks it up with the general
device probibin in drivers/core/device.c: when a new device is probed,
clk_set_defaults() will be called for it and will process the
properties mentioned above.

Note that this functionality is designed to fail gracefully (i.e. if a
clock-driver does not implement set_parent(), we simply accept this
and ignore the error) as not to break existing board-support.

This implements the (newly added) set_parent() operation for the

This implementation supports only the GMAC (in fact only the RGMII

internal SCLK_GMAC or to an external clock input (identifiable by it
providing a 'clock-output-name' of "gmac_clkin").

This commit refactors clk_get_by_index() by introducing an internal

9b643e312d treewide: replace with error() with pr_err()
U-Boot widely uses error() as a bit noisier variant of printf().

This macro causes name conflict with the following line in
include/linux/compiler-gcc.h:

  # define __compiletime_error(message) __attribute__((error(message)))

This prevents us from using __compiletime_error(), and makes it
difficult to fully sync BUILD_BUG macros with Linux. (Notice
Linux's BUILD_BUG_ON_MSG is implemented by using compiletime_assert().)

Let's convert error() into now treewide-available pr_err().

Done with the help of Coccinelle, excluing tools/ directory.

to fdt_addr_t and fdt_size_t. Unfortunately we cannot just use those types
since they are defined to phys_addr_t and phys_size_t which use
'unsigned long' in the 32-bit case, rather than 'unsigned int'.

Add tests for the four combinations of address and size values (32/32,
64/64, 32/64, 64/32). Also update existing uses for rk3399 and rk3368
which now need to use the new fdt_val_t type.

e7c831543a clk: at91: utmi: Set the reference clock frequency
By default, it is assumed that the UTMI clock is generated from
a 12 MHz reference clock (MAINCK). If it's not the case, the FREQ

clock in the proper way.

The UTMI clock has a fixed rate of 480 MHz. In fact, there is no
multiplier we can configure. The multiplier is managed internally,
depending on the reference clock frequency, to achieve the target
of 480 MHz.

f5a432959a rockchip: clk: rk3368: implement MMC/SD clock reparenting
The original clock support for MMC/SD cards on the RK3368 suffered
from a tendency to select a divider less-or-equal to the the one
giving the requested clock-rate: this can lead to higher-than-expected
(or rather: higher than supported) clock rates for the MMC/SD
communiction.

This change rewrites the MMC/SD clock generation to:
 * always generate a clock less-than-or-equal to the requested clock
 * support reparenting among the CPLL, GPLL and OSC24M parents to
   generate the highest clock that does not exceed the requested rate

In addition to this, the Linux DTS uses HCLK_MMC/HCLK_SDMMC instead of
SCLK_MMC/SCLK_SDMMC: to match this (and to ensure that clock setup
always works), we adjust the driver appropriately.

This includes the changes from:

4bebf94e85 rockchip: clk: rk3368: do not change CPLL/GPLL before returning to BROM
The RK3368 has a somewhat temperamental BootROM (which I learned the
hard way) when it comes to reconfiguring the CPLL and GPLL (in fact,
experiments show that changing the GPLL broke things for me, while
changing the CPLL seems to be more benign). These should not be
modified by the SPL stage, if we intend to return to the BootROM for
chain booting the next stage.

This commit changes the clock initialisation to not change CPLL/GPLL
before returning to the BootROM (i.e. in TPL). As it's safe to change
these settings if we no longer intend to return to U-Boot, we'll run
the full PLL setup a little later (i.e. in SPL).
