Some but not all of implementations of the Denali NAND controller
have hardware circuits to detect the device parameters such as
page_size, erase_size, etc. Even on those SoCs with such hardware
supported, the hardware is known to detect wrong parameters for some
nasty (almost buggy) NAND devices. The device parameters detected
during nand_scan_ident() are more trustworthy.
This commit sets some hardware registers to mtd->pagesize,
mtd->oobsize, etc. in the code between nand_scan_ident() and
nand_scan_tail().

Some variants of the Denali NAND controller need some registers
set up based on the device information that has been detected during
nand_scan_ident().
CONFIG_SYS_NAND_SELF_INIT has to be defined to insert code between
nand_scan_ident() and nand_scan_tail(). It is also helpful to reduce
the difference between this driver and its Linux counterpart because
this driver was ported from Linux. Moreover, doc/README.nand recommends

The Keystone SoCs use the same NAND driver as Davinci.
This patch adds opportunity to write Keystone U-boot image to NAND
device using appropriate RBL ECC layout. This is needed only if RBL
boots U-boot from NAND device and that's supposed that raw u-boot
partition is used only for writing image.
The main problem is that default Davinci ECC layout is different from
Keystone RBL layout. To read U-boot image the RBL needs that image was
written using RBL ECC layout.
The BBT table is written using default Davinci layout and has to
be updated using one. The BBT can be updated only while erasing
chip or by forced bad block assigning, so erase function has to
use native ecc layout in order to be able to write BBT correctly.
So if we're writing to NAND U-boot address we use RBL layout for
others we use default ECC layout.
Also remove definition for CONFIG_CMD_NAND_ECCLAYOUT as there is no
reasons to use ECC layout commands. It was added by mistake.

This patch add support for BCH16_ECC to omap_gpmc driver.
*need to BCH16 ECC scheme*
With newer SLC Flash technologies and MLC NAND, and large densities, pagesizes
Flash devices have become more suspectible to bit-flips. Thus stronger
ECC schemes are required for protecting the data.
But stronger ECC schemes have come with larger-sized ECC syndromes which require
more space in OOB/Spare. This puts constrains like;
(a) BCH16_ECC can correct 16 bit-flips per 512Bytes of data.
(b) BCH16_ECC generates 26-bytes of ECC syndrome / 512B.
Due to (b) this scheme can only be used with NAND devices which have enough
OOB to satisfy following equation:
OOBsize per page >= 26 * (page-size / 512)

GPMC controller needs to be configured based on bus-width of the NAND device
connected to it. Also, dynamic detection of NAND bus-width from on-chip ONFI
parameters is not possible in following situations:
SPL: SPL NAND drivers does not support ONFI parameter reading.
U-boot: GPMC controller iniitalization is done in omap_gpmc.c:board_nand_init()
which is called before probing for devices, hence any ONFI parameter
information is not available during GPMC initialization.
Thus, OMAP NAND driver expected board developers to explicitely write GPMC
configurations specific to NAND device attached on board in board files itself.
But this was troublesome for board manufacturers as they need to dive into
lengthy platform & SoC documents to find details of GPMC registers and
appropriate configurations to get NAND device working.
This patch instead adds existing CONFIG_SYS_NAND_BUSWIDTH_16BIT to board config
hich indicates that connected NAND device has x16 bus-width. And then based on
this config GPMC driver itself initializes itself based on NAND bus-width. This
keeps board developers free from knowing GPMC controller specific internals.

As per following Sections in ONFI Spec, NAND_CMD_READID should use only
lower 8-bit for transfering command, address and data even on x16 NAND device.
*Section: Target Initialization"
"The Read ID and Read Parameter Page commands only use the lower 8-bits of the
data bus. The host shall not issue commands that use a word data width on x16
devices until the host determines the device supports a 16-bit data bus width
in the parameter page."
*Section: Bus Width Requirements*
"When the host supports a 16-bit bus width, only data is transferred at the
16-bit width. All address and command line transfers shall use only the lower
8-bits of the data bus. During command transfers, the host may place any value
on the upper 8-bits of the data bus. During address transfers, the host shall
set the upper 8-bits of the data bus to 00h."
Thus porting following commit from linux-kernel to ensure that column address
is not altered to align to x16 bus when issuing NAND_CMD_READID command.
commit 3dad2344e92c6e1aeae42df1c4824f307c51bcc7
mtd: nand: force NAND_CMD_READID onto 8-bit bus
Author: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com> (preserving authorship)
The NAND command helpers tend to automatically shift the column address
for x16 bus devices, since most commands expect a word address, not a
byte address. The Read ID command, however, expects an 8-bit address
(i.e., 0x00, 0x20, or 0x40 should not be translated to 0x00, 0x10, or
0x20).
This fixes the column address for a few drivers which imitate the
nand_base defaults.

This patch updates (c)
- checks for calc_ecc[]==0x00 so that error_correction is not required for
known good pages.
- adds scalability for other ECC_BCHx scheme by merging following
omap_rotate_ecc_bch() + omap_fix_errors_bch() => omap_correct_data_bch()
- fixing logic for bit-flip correction based on error_loc[count]

chip->ecc.calculate() is used for calculating and fetching of ECC syndrome by
processing the data passed during Read/Write accesses.
All H/W based ECC schemes use GPMC controller to calculate ECC syndrome.
But each BCHx_ECC scheme has its own implemetation of post-processing and
fetching ECC syndrome from GPMC controller.
This patch updates OMAP_ECC_BCH8_CODE_HW ECC scheme in following way:
- merges multiple chip->calculate API for different ECC schemes
omap_calculate_ecc() + omap_calculate_ecc_bch() + omap_calculate_ecc_bch_sw()
==> omap_calculate_ecc()
- removes omap_ecc_disable() and instead uses it as inline.

chip->ecc.hwctl() is used for preparing the H/W controller before read/write
NAND accesses (like assigning data-buf, enabling ECC scheme configs, etc.)
Though all ECC schemes in OMAP NAND driver use GPMC controller for generating
ECC syndrome (for both Read/Write accesses). But but in current code
HAM1_ECC and BCHx_ECC schemes implement individual function to achieve this.
This patch
(1) removes omap_hwecc_init() and omap_hwecc_init_bch()
as chip->ecc.hwctl will re-initializeGPMC before every read/write call.
omap_hwecc_init_bch() -> omap_enable_ecc_bch()
(2) merges the GPMC configuration code for all ECC schemes into
single omap_enable_hwecc(), thus adding scalability for future ECC schemes.
omap_enable_hwecc() + omap_enable_ecc_bch() -> omap_enable_hwecc()

The omap_gpmc allows switching ecc at runtime. Since
the NAND_SUBPAGE_READ flag is only set, it is kept when
switching to hw ecc, which is not correct. This leads to
calling chip->ecc.read_subpage which is not a valid
pointer. Therefore clear the flag when switching ecc so
reading in hw mode works again.

If we change to software ecc and then back to hardware ecc, the nand ecc ops
pointers are populated with incorrect function pointers. This is related to the
way nand_scan_tail() handles assigning functions to ecc ops:
If we are switching to software ecc/no ecc, it assigns default functions to the
ecc ops pointers unconditionally, but if we are switching to hardware ecc,
the default hardware ecc functions are assigned to ops pointers only if these
pointers are NULL (so that drivers could set their own functions). In the case
of omap_gpmc.c driver, when we switch to sw ecc, sw ecc functions are
assigned to ecc ops by nand_scan_tail(), and when we later switch to hw ecc,
the ecc ops pointers are not NULL, so nand_scan_tail() does not overwrite
them with hw ecc functions.
The result: sw ecc functions used to write hw ecc data.
Clear the ecc ops pointers in omap_gpmc.c when switching ecc types, so that
ops which were not assigned by the driver will get the correct default values
from nand_scan_tail().

When switching ecc mode, omap_select_ecc_scheme() assigns the appropriate values
into the current nand chip's ecc.layout struct. This is done under the
assumption that the struct exists only to store values, so it is OK to overwrite
it, but there is at least one situation where this assumption is incorrect:
When switching to 1 bit hamming code sw ecc, the job of assigning layout data
is outsourced to nand_scan_tail(), which simply assigns into ecc.layout a
pointer to an existing struct prefilled with the appropriate values. This struct
doubles as both data and layout definition, and therefore shouldn't be
overwritten, but on the next switch to hardware ecc, this is exactly what's
going to happen. The next time the user switches to software ecc, they're
going to get a messed up ecc layout.
Prevent this and possible similar bugs by explicitly using the
private-to-omap_gpmc.c omap_ecclayout struct when switching ecc mode.

Commit "mtd: nand: omap: enable BCH ECC scheme using ELM for generic
platform" (d016dc42ce) changed the way
software ECC is configured, both during boot, and during ecc switch, in a way
that is not backwards compatible with older systems:
Older version of omap_gpmc.c always assigned ecc.size = 0 when configuring
for software ecc, relying on nand_scan_tail() to select a default for ecc.size
(256), while the new version of omap_gpmc.c assigns ecc.size = pagesize,
which is likely to not be 256.
Since 1 bit hamming sw ecc is only meant to be used by legacy devices, revert
to the original behavior.

As per OMAP3530 TRM referenced below [1]
For large-page NAND, ROM code expects following ecc-layout for HAM1 ecc-scheme
- OOB[1] (offset of 1 *byte* from start of OOB) for x8 NAND device
- OOB[2] (offset of 1 *word* from start of OOB) for x16 NAND device
Thus ecc-layout expected by ROM code for HAM1 ecc-scheme is:
*for x8 NAND Device*
+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+
| xxxx | ECC[A0] | ECC[A1] | ECC[A2] | ECC[B0] | ECC[B1] | ECC[B2] | ...
+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+
*for x16 NAND Device*
+--------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+
| xxxxx | xxxxx | ECC[A0] | ECC[A1] | ECC[A2] | ECC[B0] | ECC[B1] | ECC[B2] |
+--------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+
This patch fixes ecc-layout *only* for HAM1, as required by ROM-code
For other ecc-schemes like (BCH8) ecc-layout is same for x8 or x16 devices.

This patch adds new CONFIG_NAND_OMAP_ECCSCHEME, replacing other distributed
CONFIG_xx used for selecting NAND ecc-schemes.
This patch aims at solving following issues.
1) Currently ecc-scheme is tied to SoC platform, which prevents user to select
other ecc-schemes also supported in hardware. like;
- most of OMAP3 SoC platforms use only 1-bit Hamming ecc-scheme, inspite
the fact that they can use higher ecc-schemes like 8-bit ecc-schemes with
software based error detection (OMAP_ECC_BCH4_CODE_HW_DETECTION_SW).
- most of AM33xx SoC plaforms use 8-bit BCH ecc-scheme for now, but hardware
supports BCH16 ecc-scheme also.
2) Different platforms use different CONFIG_xx to select ecc-schemes, which
adds confusion for user while migrating platforms.
- *CONFIG_NAND_OMAP_ELM* which enables ELM hardware engine, selects only
8-bit BCH ecc-scheme with h/w based error-correction (OMAP_ECC_BCH8_CODE_HW)
whereas ELM hardware engine supports other ecc-schemes also like; BCH4,
and BCH16 (in future).
- *CONFIG_NAND_OMAP_BCH8* selects 8-bit BCH ecc-scheme with s/w based error
correction (OMAP_ECC_BCH8_CODE_HW_DETECTION_SW).
- *CONFIG_SPL_NAND_SOFTECC* selects 1-bit Hamming ecc-scheme using s/w library
Thus adding new *CONFIG_NAND_OMAP_ECCSCHEME* de-couples ecc-scheme dependency
on SoC platform and NAND driver. And user can select ecc-scheme independently
foreach board.
However, selection some hardware based ecc-schemes (OMAP_ECC_BCHx_CODE_HW) still
depends on presence of ELM hardware engine on SoC. (Refer doc/README.nand)

+-----------------------------------+-----------------+-----------------+
|ECC Scheme | ECC Calculation | Error Detection |
+-----------------------------------+-----------------+-----------------+
|OMAP_ECC_BCH8_CODE_HW |GPMC |ELM H/W engine |
|OMAP_ECC_BCH8_CODE_HW_DETECTION_SW |GPMC |S/W BCH library |
+-----------------------------------+-----------------+-----------------+
Current implementation limits the BCH8_CODE_HW only for AM33xx device family.
(using CONFIG_AM33XX). However, other SoC families (like TI81xx) also have
ELM hardware module, and can support ECC error detection using ELM.
This patch
- removes CONFIG_AM33xx

- adds omap_select_ecc_scheme()
A common function to handle ecc-scheme related configurations. This
can be used both during device-probe and via user-space u-boot commads
to change ecc-scheme. During device probe ecc-scheme is selected based
on CONFIG_NAND_OMAP_ELM or CONFIG_NAND_OMAP_BCH8
- enables CONFIG_BCH
S/W library (lib/bch.c) required by OMAP_ECC_BCHx_CODE_HW_DETECTION_SW
is enabled by CONFIG_BCH.
- enables CONFIG_SYS_NAND_ONFI_DETECTION

Linux modified the MTD driver interface in commit edbc4540 (with the
same name as this commit). The effect is that calls to mtd_read will
not return -EUCLEAN if the number of ECC-corrected bit errors is below
a certain threshold, which defaults to the strength of the ECC. This
allows -EUCLEAN to stop indicating "some bits were corrected" and begin
indicating "a large number of bits were corrected, the data held in
this region of flash may be lost soon". UBI makes use of this and when
-EUCLEAN is returned from mtd_read it will move data to another block
of flash. Without adopting this interface change UBI on U-boot attempts
to move data between blocks every time a single bit is corrected using
the ECC, which is a very common occurance on some devices.
For some devices where bit errors are common enough, UBI can get stuck
constantly moving data around because each block it attempts to use has
a single bit error. This condition is hit when wear_leveling_worker
attempts to move data from one PEB to another in response to an
-EUCLEAN/UBI_IO_BITFLIPS error. When this happens ubi_eba_copy_leb is
called to perform the data copy, and after the data is written it is
read back to check its validity. If that read returns UBI_IO_BITFLIPS
(in response to an MTD -EUCLEAN) then ubi_eba_copy_leb returns 1 to
wear_leveling worker, which then proceeds to schedule the destination
PEB for erasure. This leads to erase_worker running on the PEB, and
following a successful erase wear_leveling_worker is called which
begins this whole cycle all over again. The end result is that (without
UBI debug output enabled) the boot appears to simply hang whilst in
reality U-boot busily works away at destroying a block of the NAND
flash. Debug output from this situation:

This patch adds a driver for the diskonchip G4 nand flash device. It is based
on the driver from the linux kernel.
This also includes a separate SPL driver. A separate SPL driver is used because
the device operates in a different mode (reliable mode) when loading a boot
image, and also because the storage format of the boot image is different from
normal data (pages are stored redundantly). The SPL driver basically mimics how
a typical IPL reads data from the device. The special operating mode and
storage format are used to compensate for the fact that the IPL does not contain
the BCH ecc decoding algorithm (due to size constraints). Although the u-boot
SPL *could* use ecc, it operates like an IPL for the sake of simplicity and
uniformity, since the IPL and SPL share the task of loading the u-boot image.
As a side benefit, the SPL driver is very small.

Add support for generic NAND SPL via the SPL framework into the

publication of the already implemented functions. To avoid the
bare-bones functions getting in the way of the NAND_SPL, build
them only if CONFIG_SPL_FRAMEWORK is not defined.
Also make sure the requested payload is aligned to full pages,

Currently is_16bit_nand() is a per SoC function and it decides the bus nand
width by reading some boot related registers.
This method works when NAND is the boot medium, but does not work if another
boot medium is used. For example: booting from a SD card and then using NAND
to store the environment variables, would lead to the following error:
NAND bus width 16 instead 8 bit
No NAND device found!!!
0 MiB
Use CONFIG_SYS_NAND_BUSWIDTH_16BIT symbol to decide the bus width.
If it is defined in the board file, then consider 16-bit NAND bus-width,
otherwise assume 8-bit NAND is used.
This also aligns with Documentation/devicetree/bindings/mtd/nand.txt, which
states:

loff_t limit on how much data can be read or written. This means that

implemented in IFC for any "system side write" into sram buffer. Reading an

mtd: nand: allow NAND_NO_SUBPAGE_WRITE to be set from driver
The NAND_CHIPOPTIONS_MSK has limited utility and is causing real bugs. It
silently masks off at least one flag that might be set by the driver
(NAND_NO_SUBPAGE_WRITE). This breaks the GPMI NAND driver and possibly
others.
Really, as long as driver writers exercise a small amount of care with
NAND_* options, this mask is not necessary at all; it was only here to
prevent certain options from accidentally being set by the driver. But the
original thought turns out to be a bad idea occasionally. Thus, kill it.

To use PMECC in this driver, the user needs to set the PMECC correction

This fixes the issue where mxs_dma_init() was called either twice or never,
without introducing any new init hooks.
The idea is to allow each and every device using the APBH DMA block to
configure and request only the channels it uses, instead of making it call init
for all the channels as is now.
The common DMA block init part, which only configures the block, is then called
from CPUs arch_cpu_init() call.

Freescale IFC NAND Machine calculates ECC on 512byte sector and same is used in
fsl_ifc_run_command() during ECC status verification. Also this sector is passed
to is_blank() for blank checking. It is wrong at first place because
is_blank()'s implementation checks for Page size and OOB area size.
is_blank() should be called per page for main and OOB area verification.
Variables name are redefined to avoid confusion between buffer and ecc sector.

This reverts commit 4fee6c2f29.
It breaks boards that currently rely on soft-ecc, as pointed out here:
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/140872/
The reverted patch should be resubmitted with documentation, and with the
CONFIG_MTD_ECC_SOFT selected from every board that needs it. We could
start by looking at what NAND driver the board selects, and whether
that driver ever asks for soft ECC.

This allows a driver to run code between nand_scan_ident() and
nand_scan_tail(), among other things. See the additions to
doc/README.nand for details.
To allow a gradual transition, Boards that don't set
CONFIG_SYS_NAND_SELF_INIT will still be initialized the old way, but
new drivers should not require this, and existing drivers should be
converted when convenient.

avoid errors originating from unused functions in nand_base.c.

In nand_davinci_readecc(), select the correct NANDF<n>ECC register based
on CONFIG_SYS_NAND_CS rather than hardcoding the choice of NANDF1ECC.
This allows 1-bit hardware ECC to work with chip select other than CS2.
Note this now matches the usage in nand_davinci_enable_hwecc(), which
already had the correct handling, and allows refactoring to a single
function encapsulating the register read.
Without this fix, writing NAND pages to a chip not wired to CS2 would
result in in the ECC calculation always returning FFFFFF for each
512-byte segment, and reading back a correctly written page (one with
ECC intact) would always fail. With this fix, the ECC is written and
verified correctly.

When writing 0x4000 to the unlockend_blkaddr register, large writes to
a 2k page NAND sometimes fail. The current kernel driver writes 0xFFFF
to this register for V2 of the nand controller.
However on an i.MX31 this also fixes writes larger than 32MB.
The datasheet is very unspecific, but (0x4000=16384)*2000
roughly fits the limits we're encountering with NAND writes.

Add NAND support (including spl) on IFC, such as is found on the p1010.
Note that using hardware ECC on IFC with small-page NAND (which is what
comes on the p1010rdb reference board) means there will be insufficient
OOB space for JFFS2, since IFC does not support 1-bit ECC. UBI should
work, as it does not use OOB for anything but ECC.
When hardware ECC is not enabled in CSOR, software ECC is now used.

This patch sync with Brian's patch on Linux in nand_flash_detect_onfi()
commit b7b1a29d94c17e4341856381bccb4d17495bea60

mtd: nand: rearrange ONFI revision checking, add ONFI 2.3
In checking for the ONFI revision, the first conditional (for checking
"unsupported" ONFI) seems unnecessary. All ONFI revisions should be
backwards-compatible; even if this is not the case on some newer ONFI
revision, it should simply fail the second version-checking if-else block

move our "unsupported" condition after having checked each bit field.
Also, it's simple enough to add a condition for ONFI revision 2.3. Note

Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols
found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of
binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not
extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols".
This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead
of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in
linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended.
This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function
cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is
inspired.
The name of each former library archive is preserved except for
extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates
references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker
scripts.
This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but
include source files that depend these disabled features in the build,
resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include:
- disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS;
- enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE.

A while back, in http://lists.denx.de/pipermail/u-boot/2009-June/054428.html,
Michele De Candia posted a patch to not count bad blocks toward the
requested size to be erased. This is desireable when you're passing in
something like $filesize, but not when you're trying to erase a partition.
Thus, a .spread subcommand (named for consistency with
http://lists.denx.de/pipermail/u-boot/2010-August/075163.html) is introduced
to make explicit the user's desire to erase for a given amount of data,
rather than to erase a specific region of the chip.
While passing $filesize to "nand erase" is useful, accidentally passing
something like $fliesize currently produces quite unpleasant results, as the
variable evaluates to nothing and U-Boot assumes that you want to erase
the entire rest of the chip/partition. To improve the safety of the
erase command, require the user to make explicit their intentions by
using a .part or .chip subcommand. This is an incompatible user interface
change, but keeping compatibility would eliminate the safety gain, and IMHO
it's worth it.
While touching nand_erase_opts(), make it accept 64-bit offsets and sizes,
fix the percentage display when erase length is rounded up, eliminate
an inconsistent warning about rounding up the erase length which only
happened when the length was less than one block (rounding up for $filesize
is normal operation), and add a diagnostic if there's an attempt to erase
beginning at a non-block boundary.

The underlying code in nand_base.c already supports non-page-aligned reads
and writes, but the block-skipping wrapper code did not.
With block skipping, an unaligned start address is not useful since you
really want to be starting at the beginning of a partition -- or at least
that's where you want to start checking for blocks to skip, but we don't
(yet) support that. So we still require the start address to be aligned.
An unaligned length, though, is useful for passing $filesize to the
read/write command, and handling it does not complicate block skipping.

Currently, 83xx, 86xx, and 85xx have a lot of duplicated code
dedicated to defining and manipulating the LBC registers. Merge
this into a single spot.
To do this, we have to decide on a common name for the data structure
that holds the lbc registers - it will now be known as fsl_lbc_t, and we
adopt a common name for the immap layouts that include the lbc - this was
previously known as either im_lbc or lbus; use the former.
In addition, create accessors for the BR/OR regs that use in/out_be32

The syndrome based page read/write routines store ECC, and possibly other
"OOB" data, right after each chunk of ECC'd data. With ECC chunk size of
512 bytes and a large page (2KiB) NAND, the layout is:
data-0 OOB-0 data-1 OOB-1 data-2 OOB-2 data-3 OOB-3 OOB-leftover
Where OOBx is (prepad, ECC, postpad). However, the current "raw" routines
use a traditional layout -- data OOB, disregarding the prepad and postpad
values -- so when they're used with that type of ECC hardware, those calls
mix up the data and OOB. Which means, in particular, that bad block
tables won't be found on startup, with data corruption and related chaos
ensuing.
The current syndrome-based drivers in mainline all seem to use one chunk
per page; presumably they haven't noticed such bugs.
Fix this, by adding read/write page_raw_syndrome() routines as siblings of
the existing non-raw routines; "raw" just means to bypass the ECC
computations, not change data and OOB layout.

Update chipselect handling in davinci_nand.c so that it can
handle 2 GByte chips the same way Linux does: as one device,
even though it has two halves with independent chip selects.
For such chips the "nand info" command reports:
Device 0: 2x nand0, sector size 128 KiB
Switch to use the default chipselect function unless the board
really needs its own. The logic for the Sonata board moves out
of the driver into board-specific code. (Which doesn't affect
current build breakage if its NAND support is enabled...)

Remove CONFIG_SYS_DAVINCI_BROKEN_ECC option. It's not just nasty;
it's also unused by any current boards, and doesn't even match the
main U-Boot distributions from TI (which use soft ECC, or 4-bit ECC
on newer chips that support it).
DaVinci GIT kernels since 2.6.24, and mainline Linux since 2.6.30,
match non-BROKEN code paths for 1-bit HW ECC. The BROKEN code paths
do seem to partially match what MontaVista/TI kernels (4.0/2.6.10,
and 5.0/2.6.18) do ... but only for small pages. Large page support
is really broken (and it's unclear just what software it was trying
to match!), and the ECC layout was making three more bytes available
for use by filesystem (or whatever) code.
Since this option itself seems broken, remove it. Add a comment
about the MV/TI compat issue, and the most straightforward way to
address it (should someone really need to solve it).

Minor cleanup for DaVinci NAND code:
- Use I/O addresses from nand_chip; CONFIG_SYS_NAND_BASE won't
be defined when there are multiple chipselect lines in use
(as with common 2 GByte chips).
- Cleanup handling of EMIF control registers
* Only need one pointer pointing to them
* Remove incorrect and unused struct supersetting them
- Use the standard waitfunc; we don't need a custom version
- Partial legacy cleanup:
* Don't initialize every board like it's a DM6446 EVM
* #ifdef a bit more code for BROKEN_ECC
Sanity checked with small page NAND on dm355 and dm6446 EVMs;
and large page on dm355 EVM (packaged as two devices, not one).

This patch adds NAND Flash Controller driver for MPC5121 revision 2.
All device features, except hardware ECC and power management, are
supported.
This NFC driver replaces the one orignally posted by John Rigby:
"[PATCH] Freescale NFC NAND driver"
It's a port of the Linux driver version posted by Piotr Ziecik a few
weeks ago. Using this driver has the following advantages (from my
point of view):
- Compatibility with the Linux NAND driver (e.g. ECC usage)
- Better code quality in general
- Resulting U-Boot image is a bit smaller (approx. 3k)
- Better to sync with newer Linux driver versions
The only disadvantage I can see, is that HW-ECC is not supported right
now. But this could be added later (e.g. port from Linux driver after
it's supported there). Using HW-ECC on the MCP5121 NFC has a general
problem because of the ECC usage in the spare area. This collides with
JFFS2 for example.

The NAND flash on the TQM8548_BE modules requires a short delay after
running the UPM pattern like the MPC8360ERDK board does. The TQM8548_BE
requires a further short delay after writing out a buffer. Normally the
R/B pin should be checked, but it's not connected on the TQM8548_BE.
The corresponding Linux FSL UPM driver uses similar delay points at the
same locations. To manage these extra delays in a more general way, I
introduced the "wait_flags" field allowing the board-specific driver to
specify various types of extra delay.

Rather than putting the function prototype for board_nand_init() in the one
place where it gets called, put it into nand.h so that every place that also
defines it gets the prototype. Otherwise, errors can go silently unnoticed

The current code that determines which bank/chipselect is used for a
given NAND instance only worked for 32-bit addresses and assumed
a 1:1 mapping. This breaks in 36-bit physical configs.
The proper way to handle this is to use the virt_to_phys() and
BR_PHYS_ADDR() routinues to match the 34-bit lbc bus address
with the the virtual address the NAND code uses.

When the total size of all NAND devices exceeds 4 GiB, the size will
overflow. This patch tries to fix this.
Note that we still have a problem when a single NAND device is bigger
than 4 GiB: then the overflow would actually happen earlier, i. e.
when storing the size in nand_info[].size, as nand_info[].size is an
"u_int32_t".

This patch implements support for flash-based BBT for chips working
through ELBC NAND controller, so that NAND core will not have to re-scan
for bad blocks on every boot.
Because ELBC controller may provide HW-generated ECCs we should adjust

For large page chips, nand_bbt is looking into OOB area, and checking
for "0xff 0xff" pattern at OOB offset 0. That is, two bytes should be
reserved for bbt means.
But ELBC driver is specifying ecclayout so that oobfree area starts at
offset 1, so only one byte left for the bbt purposes.
This causes problems with any OOB users, namely JFFS2: after first mount
JFFS2 will fill all OOBs with "erased marker", so OOBs will contain:
OOB Data: ff 19 85 20 03 00 ff ff ff 00 00 08 ff ff ff ff
OOB Data: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff
OOB Data: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff
OOB Data: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff
And on the next boot, NAND core will rescan for bad blocks, then will
see "0xff 0x19" pattern, and will mark all blocks as bad ones.
To fix the issue we should implement our own bad block pattern: just one
byte at OOB start. Though, this will work only for x8 chips. For x16
chips two bytes must be checked. Since ELBC driver does not support x16
NANDs (yet), we're safe for now.
