336d4615f8 dm: core: Create a new header file for 'compat' features
At present dm/device.h includes the linux-compatible features. This
requires including linux/compat.h which in turn includes a lot of headers.
One of these is malloc.h which we thus end up including in every file in
U-Boot. Apart from the inefficiency of this, it is problematic for sandbox
which needs to use the system malloc() in some files.

Move the compatibility features into a separate header file.

97a72bc286 ARM: socfpga: Purge pending transactions upon enabling bridges on Gen5
On Gen5, when the FPGA is loaded and there was some prior interaction
between the HPS and the FPGA via bridges (e.g. Linux was running and
using some of the IPs in the FPGA) followed by warm reset, it has been
observed that there might be outstanding unfinished transactions. This
leads to an obscure misbehavior of the bridge.

When the bridge is enabled again in U-Boot and there are outstanding
transactions, a read from within the bridge address range would return
a result of the previous read instead. Example:
=> bridge enable ; md 0xff200000 1
ff200000: 1234abcd
=> bridge enable ; md 0xff200010 1
ff200010: 5678dcba <------- this is in fact a value which is stored in
                            a memory at 0xff200000
=> bridge enable ; md 0xff200000 1
ff200000: 90effe09 <------- this is in fact a value which is stored in
                            a memory at 0xff200010
and so it continues. Issuing a write does lock the system up completely.

This patch opens the FPGA bridges in 'bridge enable' command, the tears
them down again, and then opens them again. This allows these outstanding
transactions to complete and makes this misbehavior go away.

However, it is not entirely clear whether this is the correct solution.

a43b60cc78 arm: socfpga: gen5: fix ERR_PTR_OFFSET
The default implementation of ERR_PTR/PTR_ERR maps errno values at the
and of the address range (e.g. -EINVAL/-22 gets 0xFFFFFFEA).

For socfpga gen5 SPL, this doesn't really work, as the heap is nearly
at the end of the 32 bit address range.

This patch adjusts the ERR_PTR_OFFSET to map errno values into the range

476abb72e0 ARM: socfpga: Clear PL310 early in SPL
On SoCFPGA A10 systems, it can rarely happen that a reboot from Linux
will result in stale data in PL310 L2 cache controller. Even if the L2
cache controller is disabled via the CTRL register CTRL_EN bit, those
data can interfere with operation of devices using DMA, like e.g. the
DWMMC controller. This can in turn cause e.g. SPL to fail reading data
from SD/MMC.

The obvious solution here would be to fully reset the L2 cache controller
via the reset manager MPUMODRST L2 bit, however this causes bus hang even
if executed entirely from L1 I-cache to avoid generating any bus traffic
through the L2 cache controller.

This patch thus configures and enables the L2 cache controller very early
in the SPL boot process, clears the L2 cache and disables the L2 cache
controller again.

The reason for doing it in SPL is because we need to avoid accessing any
of the potentially stale data in the L2 cache, and we are certain any of
the stale data will be below the OCRAM address range. To further reduce
bus traffic during the L2 cache invalidation, we enable L1 I-cache and
run the invalidation code entirely out of the L1 I-cache.

48ec73453a arm: sofcpga: s10: remove unused ad-hoc reset code
The stratix 10 reset manager ad-hoc code in arch/arm contains an unused

430b42f76a arm: socfpga: remove re-added ad-hoc reset code
commit c5de2b7eae ("arm: socfpga: implement proper peripheral reset")
has removed the call to 'reset_deassert_peripherals_handoff()' from
socfpga gen5 SPL since the reset driver now handles resets. However,
commit c1d4b464c8 ("ARM: socfpga: Disable bridges in SPL unless booting from FPGA")
has re-added this ad-hoc reset code, so that all peripherals were now
again enabled instead of letting the drivers enable them by request.

While at it, remove this function for gen5 as it should not be used.

c5f4b80575 ARM: socfpga: Remove socfpga_sdram_apply_static_cfg()
The usage of socfpga_sdram_apply_static_cfg() seems rather dubious and
is confirmed to lead to a rare system hang when enabling bridges. This
patch removes the socfpga_sdram_apply_static_cfg() altogether, because
it's use seems unjustified and problematic.

The socfpga_sdram_apply_static_cfg() triggers write to SDRAM staticcfg
register to set the applycfg bit, which according to old vendor U-Boot
sources can only be written when there is no traffic between the SDRAM
controller and the rest of the system. Empirical measurements confirm
this, setting the applycfg bit when there is traffic between the SDRAM
controller and CPU leads to the SDRAM controller accesses being blocked
shortly after.

Altera originally solved this by moving the entire code which sets the
staticcfg register to OCRAM [1]. The commit message claims that the
applycfg bit needs to be set after write to fpgaportrst register. This
is however inverted by Altera shortly after in [2], where the order
becomes the exact opposite of what commit message [1] claims to be the
required order. The explanation points to a possible problem in AMP
use-case, where the FPGA might be sending transactions through the F2S
bridge.

However, the AMP is only the tip of the iceberg here. Any of the other
L2, L3 or L4 masters can trigger transactions to the SDRAM. It becomes
rather non-trivial to guarantee there are no transactions to the SDRAM
controller.

The SoCFPGA SDRAM driver always writes the applycfg bit in SPL. Thus,
writing the applycfg again in bridge enable code seems redundant and
can presumably be dropped.

9dc61aac2d arm: socfpga: gen5: reduce SPL pre-reloc malloc
By enabling debug prints in malloc_simple, we can see that SPL for socfpga
gen5 does by far not need the 8 KiB malloc pool currently allocated for
SPL in pre-reloc phase.

On socfpga_socrates, 1304 bytes are currently used (and this increases by
~200 bytes only for the sdram/reset fixes in socfpga-next).

To prevent wasting precious SRAM space, let's reduce the initial heap used
for SPL to 2 KiB. This is still some hundred bytes more than currently
used. Also, the gen5 SPL enables stack and heap in DDR memory pretty
early. Only the initial uclass/dm parsing, serial console and DDR
initialization is done in the initial heap, so these 2 KiB should be
enough for all boards.

4a9743f73c ARM: socfpga: Clear PL310 early in SPL
On SoCFPGA Gen5 systems, it can rarely happen that a reboot from Linux
will result in stale data in PL310 L2 cache controller.

In spl_gen5's board_init_f(), gd->malloc_base is manually assigned

40c36f8d49 arm: socfpga: fix SPL on gen5 after moving to DM serial
There were NULL pointers dereferenced because DM was used
too early without correct initialization:
- malloc_simple returned NULL when called from preloader_console_init()
  because gd->malloc_limit was 0
- uclass_add dereferenced gd->uclass_root members which were NULL because
  dm_init (or one of its relatives) has not been called.

All this is fixed by calling spl_early_init before calling
preloader_console_init.

34fc2a6edf ARM: socfpga: Add boot trampoline for Arria10
The Arria10 uses slightly different boot image header than the Gen5 SoCs,
in particular the header itself contains an offset from the start of the
header to which the Arria10 jumps. This offset must not be negative, yet
the header is placed at offset 0x40 of the bootable binary. Therefore, to
jump into U-Boot, add a trampoline just past the Arria10 boot header and
point to this trampoline at fixed offset from the header generated using
the mkimage -T socfpgaimage_v1 . Note that it is not needed to jump back
to offset 0x0 of the image, it is possible to jump directly at the reset
label and save processing two instructions.

83d290c56f SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel style
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and
there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the
area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it
with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the
Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first
line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line)
and with slightly different comment styles than us.

In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility
and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style.

This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared
license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag
contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag
and have introduced one.

package is installed because tools include libfdt headers from
/usr/include/ instead of using internal ones.

This commit moves the header code:
  include/libfdt.h         -> include/linux/libfdt.h
  include/libfdt_env.h     -> include/linux/libfdt_env.h

and replaces include directives:
  #include <libfdt.h>      -> #include <linux/libfdt.h>
  #include <libfdt_env.h>  -> #include <linux/libfdt_env.h>

d695d66278 spl: eMMC/SD: Provide one __weak spl_boot_mode() function
The goal of this patch is to clean up the code related to choosing SPL
MMC boot mode.

The spl_boot_mode() now is called only in spl_mmc_load_image() function,
which is only compiled in if CONFIG_SPL_MMC_SUPPORT is enabled.

To achieve the goal, all per mach/arch implementations eligible for
unification has been replaced with one __weak implementation.

ab12aa24e6 ARM: socfpga: Convert callers of cm_write_with_phase for wait_for_bit_le32
Now that we have and use wait_for_bit_le32() available, the callers of
cm_write_with_phase() should not be casting values to u32 and instead we
expect a const void *, so provide that directly.
