81e33f4b65 arm: mvebu: Move SoC selection (A38X vs AXP) into Kconfig
Until now, the SoC selection for the ARCH_MVEBU platforms has been done
in the config header. Using CONFIG_ARMADA_XP in a non-clear way. As
it needed to get selected for AXP and A38x based boards. This patch
now changes this to move the SoC selection to Kconfig. And also
uses CONFIG_ARCH_MVEBU as a common define for both AXP and A38x.
This makes things a bit clearer - especially for new board additions.

Additionally the defines CONFIG_SYS_MVEBU_DDR_AXP and
CONFIG_SYS_MVEBU_DDR_A38X are replaced with the already available
CONFIG_ARMADA_38X and CONFIG_ARMADA_XP.

And CONFIG_DDR3 is removed, as its not referenced anywhere.

aee3fddb67 i2c: mxc: add a condition in case the parameter is NULL
This could avoid executing the code that only applies to i.MX platforms.

The bus_i2c_init() is called before relocation and will assgin value
to a static variable. If U-Boot is then still running in a flash
device, it's theoretically not allowed to write data to flash without
an erasing operation. For i.MX platforms, the U-Boot is always running
in DDR.

Actually it causes asynchronous error when the ARM64 system error
report is enabled and the flash write protect is set.

03544c6640 I2C: mxc_i2c: make I2C1 and I2C2 optional
The driver assumed that I2C1 and I2C2 were always enabled,
and if they were not, then an asynchronous abort was (silently)
raised, to be caught much later on in the Linux kernel.

Fix this by making I2C1 and I2C2 optional just like I2C3 and I2C4
are.

To make the change binary-invariant, declare I2C1 and I2C2 in
every include/configs/ file which defines CONFIG_SYS_I2C_MXC.

Also, while updating README about CONFIG_SYS_I2C_MXC_I2C1 and

0f9258228e of: clean up OF_CONTROL ifdef conditionals
We have flipped CONFIG_SPL_DISABLE_OF_CONTROL. We have cleansing
devices, $(SPL_) and CONFIG_IS_ENABLED(), so we are ready to clear
away the ugly logic in include/fdtdec.h:

 #ifdef CONFIG_OF_CONTROL
 # if defined(CONFIG_SPL_BUILD) && !defined(SPL_OF_CONTROL)
 #  define OF_CONTROL 0
 # else
 #  define OF_CONTROL 1
 # endif
 #else
 # define OF_CONTROL 0
 #endif

Now CONFIG_IS_ENABLED(OF_CONTROL) is the substitute. It refers to
CONFIG_OF_CONTROL for U-boot proper and CONFIG_SPL_OF_CONTROL for
SPL.

Also, we no longer have to cancel CONFIG_OF_CONTROL in
include/config_uncmd_spl.h and scripts/Makefile.spl.

ea16c6a13b i2c: lpc32xx: correct sanity check for requested bus speed
LPC32xx has 3 I2C bus controllers, 2 of them are used as generic ones
and their parent clock is HCLK and CLK_HI/CLK_LO registers are 10 bit
wide. This means that if HCLK is 104MHz, then minimal configurable I2C
clock speed is about 51KHz.

Only USB OTG I2C bus controller CLK registers are 8 bit wide, thus in
assumption that peripheral clock is 13MHz it allows to set the minimal
bus speed about 25.5KHz.

Check for negative half clock value is removed since it is always false.

The change fixes the following problem for I2C busses 0 and 1:

  => i2c dev 0
  Setting bus to 0
  => i2c speed 100000
  Setting bus speed to 100000 Hz
  Failure changing bus speed (-22)

f48eaf01b2 cros_ec: Support the LDO access method used by spring
Add a driver to support the special LDO access used by spring. This is a
custom method in the cros_ec protocol - it does not use an I2C
pass-through.

There are two implementation choices:

1. Write a special LDO driver which can talk across the EC. Duplicate all
the logic from TPS65090 for retrying when the LDO fails to come up.

2. Write a special I2C bus driver which pretends to be a TPS65090 and
transfers reads and writes using the LDO message.

Either is distasteful. The latter method is chosen since it results in less
code duplication and a fairly simple (30-line) implementation of the core
logic.

The crosec 'ldo' subcommand could be removed (since i2c md/mw will work
instead) but is retained as a convenience.

cc456bd7df dm: cros_ec: Convert the I2C tunnel code to use driver model
The Chrome OS EC supports tunnelling through to an I2C bus on the EC. This
currently uses a copy of the I2C command code and a special 'crosec'
sub-command.

With driver model we can define an I2C bus which tunnels through to the EC,
and use the normal 'i2c' command to access it. This simplifies the code and
removes some duplication.

Add an I2C driver which tunnels through to the EC. Adjust the EC code to
support binding child devices so that it can be set up. Adjust the existing
I2C xfer function to fit driver model better.

For now the old code remains to allow things to still work. It will be
removed in a later patch once the new flow is fully enabled.

45d9ae87cb exynos: i2c: Tidy up the driver model code

to operate, but has become impossibly tangled as a result. The actual

Also the normal-speed and high-speed buses are quite different and it

Finally, there is a bug which breaks communication with the Maxim sound

b725dc458f i2c: Add a mux for GPIO-based I2C bus arbitration
While I2C supports multi-master buses this is difficult to get right.
The implementation on the master side in software is quite complex.
Clock-stretching and the arbitrary time that an I2C transaction can take
make it difficult to share the bus fairly in the face of high traffic.
When one or more masters can be reset independently part-way through a
transaction it is hard to know the state of the bus.

This driver provides a scheme based on two 'claim' GPIOs, one driven by the
AP (Application Processor, meaning the main CPU) and one driven by the EC
(Embedded Controller, a small CPU aimed at handling system tasks). With
these they can communicate and reliably share the bus. This scheme has
minimal overhead and involves very little code. It is used on snow to
permit the EC and the AP to share access to the main system PMIC and
battery. The scheme can survive reboots by either side without difficulty.
This scheme has been tested in the field with millions of devices.

Since U-Boot runs on the AP, the terminology used is 'our' claim GPIO,
meaning the AP's, and 'their' claim GPIO, meaning the EC's. This terminology
is used by the device tree bindings in Linux also.

3d1957f0ea dm: i2c: Add support for multiplexed I2C buses
Add a new I2C_MUX uclass. Devices in this class can multiplex between
several I2C buses, selecting them one at a time for use by the system.
The multiplexing mechanism is left to the driver to decide - it may be
controlled by GPIOs, for example.

The uclass supports only two methods: select() and deselect().

The current mux state is expected to be stored in the mux itself since
it is the only thing that knows how to make things work. The mux can
record the current state and then avoid switching unless it is necessary.
So select() can be skipped if the mux is already in the correct state.
Also deselect() can be made a nop if required.

a989ec8dd4 sandbox: i2c: search child emul dev and check its uclass id
The function get_emul() in sandbox i2c bus driver, always returns
first child as i2c emul device. This may only work for i2c devices
with a single child, which is an only i2c emul device.

In case when i2c device has more than one child (e.g. PMIC), and
one is i2c emul, then the function should search it by check uclass

71204e95ce i2c: mxc: refactor i2c driver and support dm
1. Introduce a new structure `struct mxc_i2c_bus`, this structure will
   used for non-DM and DM.
2. Remove `struct mxc_i2c_regs` structure, but use register offset to access
   registers based on `base` entry of `struct mxc_i2c_bus`.
3. Remove most `#ifdef I2C_QUIRK_REG`. Using driver_data to contain platform
   flags. A new flag is introduced, I2C_QUIRK_FLAG.
4. Most functions use `struct mxc_i2c_bus` as one of the parameters.
   Make most functions common to DM and non-DM, try to avoid duplicated code.
5. Support DM, but pinctrl is not included. Pinmux setting is still set
   by setup_i2c, but we do not need bus_i2c_init for DM.
6. struct i2c_parms and struct sram_data are removed.
7. Remove bus_i2c_read bus_i2c_write prototype in header file. The frist
   paramter of bus_i2c_init is modified to i2c index. Add new prototype
   i2c_idle_bus and force_bus_idle. Since bus_i2c_init is not good for
   DM I2C and pinctrl is missed, we use a weak function for i2c_idle_bus.
   Board file take the responsibility to implement this function, like this:
   "
   int i2c_idle_bus(struct mxc_i2c_bus *i2c_bus)
   {
	   if (i2c_bus->index == 0)
		   force_bus_idle(i2c_pads_info0);
	   else if (i2c_bus->index == 1)
		   force_bus_idle(i2c_pads_info1);
	   else
		   xxxxxx
   }
   "
8. Introduce a weak function, enable_i2c_clk

c54473cb25 dm: i2c: add i2c-gpio driver
This commit adds driver model support to software emulated i2c bus driver.
This driver supports kernel-style device tree bindings. Fdt properties in use:
- compatible - "i2c-gpio"
- gpios - data and clock GPIO pin phandles
- delay-us - micro seconds delay between GPIOs toggle operations,
               which is 1/4 of I2C speed clock period.

Added:
- Config: CONFIG_DM_I2C_GPIO
- File: drivers/i2c/i2c-gpio.c
- File: doc/device-tree-bindings/i2c/i2c-gpio.txt

Driver base code is taken from: drivers/i2c/soft-i2c.c, changes:
- use "i2c-gpio" naming
- update comments style
- move preprocesor macros into functions
- add device tree support
- add driver model i2c support

actually record what address it will appear on.

However, now that we can support per-child platform data, we can use that

Unfortunately this is a fairly large change and it seems to be difficult to

Due to an uninitialised variable, when muxes were deselected, any value
could be written to the mux control register. On the PCA9548, this could
result in multiple channels being selected, thus enabling multiple

The fix is simply to initialise the written value to zero.

b41411954d linux/kernel.h: sync min, max, min3, max3 macros with Linux
U-Boot has never cared about the type when we get max/min of two
values, but Linux Kernel does. This commit gets min, max, min3, max3
macros synced with the kernel introducing type checks.

Many of references of those macros must be fixed to suppress warnings.
We have two options:
 - Use min, max, min3, max3 only when the arguments have the same type
   (or add casts to the arguments)
 - Use min_t/max_t instead with the appropriate type for the first
   argument

The Tegra I2C controller's TX FIFO contains 32-bit words. If the final

be confusing when reading back the FIFO content for debugging purposes.

Solve this by explicitly initializing the variable containing FIFO data

a405764c1e drivers/i2c/fsl_i2c: modify i2c_read to handle multi-byte write
Most of the I2C slaves support accesses in the typical style
that is : read/write series of bytes at particular address offset.
These transactions look like:"
(1) START:Address:Tx:Offset:RESTART:Address[0..4]:Tx/Rx:data[0..n]:STOP"

However there are certain devices which support accesses in
terms of the transactions as follows:
(2) "START:Address:Tx:Txdata[0..n1]:Clock_stretching:
        RESTART:Address:Rx:data[0..n2]"
Here Txdata is typically a command and some associated data,
similarly Rxdata could be command status plus some data received
as a response to the command sent.

Type (1) transactions are currently supportd in the
i2c driver using i2c_read and i2c_write APIs. I2C EEPROMs,
RTC, etc fall in this category.

To handle type (2) along with type (1) transactions,
i2c_read() function has been modified.

sh_i2c_probe() calls sh_i2c_read(), but read length is 0. So acutally it does not read device at all. This patch prepares dummy buffer and read data into it.

Adds support for set-speed on the OMAP24xx I2C Adapter.

Changes to omap24_i2c_write(...) for polling ARDY Bit from IRQ-Status.
Otherwise on a subsequent call the transfer of last byte from the

i2c_write(...) is followed by a i2c_setspeed(...) (which has to
deactivate and activate master for changing psc,...).

Minor cosmetical changes.

d22643e7e8 i2c: i2c-mxs: Wait for I2C to empty queue
Make sure the I2C write queue is empty before leaving the mxs_i2c_write().
If we start and I2C write and only wait for ACK, the MXS I2C IP block may
enter next operation while still processing the write aftermath internally.
This will in turn disrupt one or more subsequent transfer(s).

A testcase for this issue is as such. This testcase is also interesting because
the first I2C_WRITE which becomes disruptive happens in the 'i2c read' command.
The 'i2c read' command first uses I2C_WRITE to send I2C address of the chip and
then uses I2C_READ to read data from the chip. After this command completes, the
'i2c probe' will use sequence of I2C_WRITE commands to probe the I2C bus. The
problem is that the first I2C_WRITE disrupted the I2C IP block operation and
this sideeffect propagates all the way to this next I2C_WRITE used by the 'i2c
probe' call. The result is the 'i2c probe' receives an ACK on I2C address 0x00,
even if this ACK was owned by the previous I2C_WRITE operation. Note that the
'i2c read' command must read from a valid I2C chip address.

Wrong:
> i2c probe
Valid chip addresses: 50 51
> i2c read 0x50 0x0.2 0x10 0x42000000
> i2c probe
Valid chip addresses: 00 50 51

With this patch
> i2c probe
Valid chip addresses: 50 51
> i2c read 0x50 0x0.2 0x10 0x42000000
> i2c probe
Valid chip addresses: 50 51

92c23c9226 arm: omap: i2c: don't zero cnt in i2c_write
Writing zero into I2Ci.I2C_CNT register causes random I2C failures in OMAP3
based devices. This seems to be related to the following advisory which
apears in multiple erratas for OMAP3 SoCs (OMAP35xx, DM37xx), as well as
OMAP4430 TRM:

Advisory:
I2C Module Does Not Allow 0-Byte Data Requests
Details:
When configured as the master, the I2C module does not allow 0-byte data
transfers. Note: Programming I2Ci.I2C_CNT[15:0]: DCOUNT = 0 will cause
undefined behavior.
Workaround(s):
No workaround. Do not use 0-byte data requests.

The writes in question are unnecessary from a functional point of view.
Most of them are done after I/O has finished, and the only one that preceds
I/O (in i2c_probe()) is also unnecessary because a stop bit is sent before
actual data transmission takes place.

Therefore, remove all writes that zero the cnt register.

940dd16242 exynos: i2c: Change FDT bus setup code to enumerate ports correctly
At present the i2c ports are enumerated in a strange way - the
fdtdec_find_aliases_for_id() function is used, but then the ID returned
is ignored and the ports are renumbered. The effect is the same provided
that the device tree has the ports in the same order, or uses aliases,
and has no gaps, but it is not correct.

Adjust the code to use the function as intended. This will allows device
tree aliases to change the device order if required.

As a result, the i2c_busses variable is dropped. We can't be sure that
there are no 'holes' in the list of buses, so must check the whole
array.

Note: it seems that non-FDT operation is now broken in this drive and
will need to be reinstated for upstream.

83d271b5ff Fix: nommu I2C adapter relocation error
NoMMU systems have a access violation problem with i2c_reloc_fixup.
Blame for it is a double relocation of the adapter itself. The
i2c_adap_p is already relocated, if i2c_reloc_fixup is called.
This patch removes the relocation of i2c_adap_p from i2c_reloc_fixup

9c3f77eb3b fsl_i2c: add workaround for the erratum I2C A004447
This workaround is for the erratum I2C A004447. Device reference
manual provides a scheme that allows the I2C master controller
to generate nine SCL pulses, which enable an I2C slave device
that held SDA low to release SDA. However, due to this erratum,
this scheme no longer works. In addition, when I2C is used as
a source of the PBL, the state machine is not able to recover.

At the same time, delete the reduplicative definition of SVR_VER
and SVR_REV. The SVR_REV is the low 8 bits rather than the low 16
bits of svr. And we use the CONFIG_SYS_FSL_A004447_SVR_REV macro
instead of hard-code value 0x10, 0x11 and 0x20.

The CONFIG_SYS_FSL_A004447_SVR_REV = 0x00 represents that one
version of platform has this I2C errata. So enable this errata
by IS_SVR_REV(svr, maj, min) function.

the CONFIG_SYS_I2C_SOFT_SPEED is defined as CONFIG_SYS_I2C_SPEED.
The CONFIG_SYS_I2C_SOFT_SPEED is then used throughout the driver.

Unfortunatelly, due to a typo in the driver, instead of defining
CONFIG_SYS_I2C_SOFT_SPEED, an CONFIG_SYS_SOFT_I2C_SPEED was defined

fa5e2845a8 mxs: i2c: Implement algorithm to set up arbitrary i2c speed
This algorithm computes the values of TIMING{0,1,2} registers for the
MX28 I2C block. This algorithm was derived by using a scope, but the
result seems correct.

The resulting values programmed into the registers do not correlate
with the contents in datasheet. When using the values from the datasheet,
the I2C clock were completely wrong.

1e2fc0d19b mxs: i2c: Restore speed setting after block reset
The I2C block reset configures the I2C bus speed to strange value.
Read the I2C speed from the block before reseting the block and
restore it afterwards, so the I2C operates correctly. This issue
can be replicated by doing unsuccessful I2C transfer, after such
transfer finishes, the I2C block clock speed is misconfigured.

496ba48f5e i2c: designware_i2c.c: Add support for the "i2c probe" command
i2c_probe() is changed to reinit the i2c bus upon read failure.
This is naturally the case upon i2c bus probing.

Also, some printf messages upon read failure are removed. As they
would interfere with the "i2c probe" command.

Additionally, i2c_set_bus_speed() now returns 0, so that the
"i2c speed" command can be used.

168a5acb81 Revert "I2C: OMAP: detect more devices when probing an i2c bus"
This reverts commit 0e57968a21.

The short version of the original commit is that some i2c devices cannot
be probed via read as they NAK the first cycle, so try and probe via a
write that we abort before it writes to the device. This however is not
allowed by the TRM for any of these parts. The section on I2C_CON
(table 17-35 I2C_CON for am/dm37x for example) says you must not change
the register while STT has been set. On these parts, the unpredictable
behavior that the chip exhibits is not problematic. On OMAP4 however it
results in the chip being in a bad state:

031ed2fa74 i2c: Add support for designware i2c controller
Earlier, a driver exists in the u-boot source for designware i2c interface. That
driver was specific to spear platforms. This patch implements the i2c controller
as a generic driver which can be used by multiple platforms

The driver files are now renamed to designware_i2c.c and designware_i2c.h and
these are moved into drivers/i2c folder for reusability by other
platforms

0b620ec97e drivers/i2c/omap24xx_i2c.c: move all local variables to SRAM
At old overo boards TWL4030 RTC irq is connected to gpio112. Unfortunately
this pin is also used for revision detection. Therefore we need to send
shut-up to TWL4030 to avoid reading wrong revision. In SPL this must
be done before SDRAM is set up because the type of SDRAM is revision dependent.
By this patch it is ensured that all variables used by omap24xx_i2c.c are
located in SRAM.

8627111543 IMX: MX31: Cleanup include files and drop nasty #ifdef in drivers
As exception among the i.MX processors, the i.MX31 has headers
without general names (mx31-regs.h, mx31.h instead of imx-regs.h and
clock.h). This requires several nasty #ifdef in the drivers to
include the correct header. The patch cleans up the driver and
renames the header files as for the other i.MX processors.

0e57968a21 I2C: OMAP: detect more devices when probing an i2c bus
The omap24xx driver only seems to support devices that have a single subaddress
byte. With these types of devices, the first access in a bus transaction is
usually a write (writes the subaddress) followed by either a read or write to
access the devices registers.

Many such devices will respond to a read as the first access, but there are at
least some that will NACK such a read. (e.g. ADV7180.)

The probe function attempts to detect a devices ACK to a read access only and
fails to find devices that NACK a read.

This commit modifies the probe function to start a write instead. This detects
devices that respond to reads (since they must also respond to writes) as well
as those that only respond to writes. The bus is immediately set to idle after a
(N)ACK avoiding actually writing anything to the device.

81687212ee I2C: mxc_i2c: address failure with mx35 processor
There is sporadic failures when more as one I2C slave
is on the bus and the processor tries to communicate
with more as one slave.
The problem was seen on a mx35pdk (two I2C slaves,
PMIC controller and CAN/RTC chip).

The current driver uses the IIF bit in the status register
to check if the bus is busy or not. According to the manual,
this is not correct, because the IIB bit should be checked.
Not only, to check if a transfer is finished must be checked
the ICF bit, and this is not tested at all.

This patch comes from analyse with a corresponding driver
provided by Freescale as part of the LTIB tool. Comparing
the two drivers, it appears that the current u-boot driver checks
the wrong bits, and depending on race condition, the transfer
can be successful or not.

The patch gets rid also of own debug function (DPRINTF),
replaced with the general debug().

Tested on Freescale mx35pdk.

6d8962e814 Switch from archive libraries to partial linking
Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols
found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of
binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not
extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols".

This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead
of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in
linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended.
This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function
cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is
inspired.

The name of each former library archive is preserved except for
extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates
references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker
scripts.

This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but
include source files that depend these disabled features in the build,
resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include:
- disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS;
- enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE.

4df6689495 ARMV7: OMAP: I2C driver: Fix bug found in 37XX testing
On OMAP36/37XX the standard on chip pullups are not sufficient to
ensure proper i2c operation without external pullups or switching
to high speed mode and enabling special on chip pullups.

This is an issue for Beagle xM, which does not have external pullups
on the expansion board i2c lines.

The issue manifests itself as an AL (arbitration lost) error when
probing for a non-existent device (i.e. on a Beagle xM with no expansion
boards attached). This issue does not occur on expansion boards that
include pullups or on Overo 37XX COM's since they include pull-ups.

This patch fixes the issue by checking for the AL bit in the i2c_probe
function.
