In some use cases, SPL linker script was not updated even when
it should be.
For instance,
$ make tricoder_config all
[ build complete ]
... modify include/configs/tricoder.h
$ make
spl/u-boot-spl.lds should be updated in this case, but it wasn't.
To fix this problem, linker scripts generation should be handled
by $(call if_changed_dep,...) rather than by $(call if_changed,...).

This patch adds the groundwork for generating signed BootStream, which
can be used by the HAB library in i.MX28. We are adding a new target,
u-boot-signed.sb , since the process for generating regular non-signed
BootStream is much easier. Moreover, the signed bootstream depends on
external _proprietary_ _binary-only_ tool from Freescale called 'cst',
which is available only under NDA.
To make things even uglier, the CST or HAB mandates a kind-of circular
dependency. The problem is, unlike the regular IVT, which is generated
by mxsimage, the IVT for signed boot must be generated by hand here due
to special demands of the CST. The U-Boot binary (or SPL binary) and IVT
are then signed by the CST as a one block. But here is the problem. The
size of the entire image (U-Boot, IVT, CST blocks) must be appended at
the end of IVT. But the size of the entire image is not known until the
CST has finished signing the U-Boot and IVT. We solve this by expecting
the CST block to be always 3904B (which it is in case two files, U-Boot
and the hand-made IVT, are signed in the CST block).

Prior to Kbuild, U-Boot could build under tools/ directory
withour configuring for a specific board.
That feature was lost when switching to Kbuild.
This patch revives it again by adding a make target "tools-only".
Usage:
$ make tools-only
Neither board configuration nor cross compiler are required to
build host tools.

Prior to Kbuild, the build system created a build directory,
when it did not exist, for out-of-tree build.
This feature was dropped when we switched to Kbuild
because many of lines in makefiles were copied from Linux Kernel.
(In Linux Kernel, we have to create a build directory by ourselves
before starting build.)
That feature seems worth reviving for less typing
even if our code and Linux Kernel diverge.

U-Boot uses the 'mkimage' tool to produce various image types,
not only uImage image type. Rename the invocation name from

Kbuild brought about many advantages for us but a significant
performance regression was reported by Simon Glass.
After some discussions and analysis, it turned out
its main cause is in $(call cc-option,...).
Historically, U-Boot parses all config.mk
(arch/*/config.mk and board/*/config.mk)
every time descending into subdirectories.
That means cc-options are evaluated over and over again.
$(call cc-option,...) is useful but costly.
So we want to evaluate them only in ./Makefile
and spl/Makefile and export compiler flags.
This commit changes the build system as follows:
- Modify scripts/Makefile.build to not include config.mk
Instead, add $(PLATFORM_CPPFLAGS) to asflags-y, ccflags-y,
cppflags-y.
- Export many variables
Going forward, Kbuild will not parse config.mk files
when it descends into subdirectories.
If we want to set variables in config.mk and use them
in subdirectories, they must be exported.
This is the list of variables to get exported:

Before this commit, USE_PRIVATE_LIBGCC was defined in
arch-specific config.mk and referenced in
arch/$(ARCH)/lib/Makefile.
We are not happy about parsing config.mk again and again.
We have to keep the same behavior with a different way.
By adding "CONFIG_" prefix, this macro appears
in include/autoconf.mk, include/spl-autoconf.mk.
(And treating USE_PRIVATE_LIBGCC as CONFIG macro
is reasonable enough.)
Tegra SoC family defined USE_PRIVATE_LIBGCC as "yes"
in arch/arm/cpu/arm720t/tegra*/config.mk,
whereas did not define it in arch/arm/cpu/armv7/tegra*/config.mk.
It means Tegra enables PRIVATE_LIBGCC only for SPL.
We can describe the same behavior by adding
#ifdef CONFIG_SPL_BUILD
# define CONFIG_USE_PRIVATE_LIBGCC
#endif
to include/configs/tegra-common.h.

U-Boot has compelled all boards to have
board/${BOARD}/ or board/${VENDOR}/${BOARD}/ directory.
Sometimes it does not seem suitable for some boards,
for example Sandbox. (Is it a board?)
And arcangel4 board has nothing to compile
under the board directory.
This commit makes the build system more flexible:
If '<none>' is given to the 6th column (=Board name) of boards.cfg,
Kbuild will not descend into the board directory.

Programs in tools/ directory are usually built for the host.
But some of them (mkimage, dumpimge, gen_eth_addr, etc.) are
useful on the target OS too.
Actually, prior to Kbuild, U-Boot could build tools for
the target like follows:
$ make <target_board>_config
$ export CROSS_COMPILE=<cross_gcc_prefix>
$ make HOSTCC=${CROSS_COMPILE}gcc HOSTSTRIP=${CROSS_COMPILE}strip tools
In Kbuild, we can no longer replace HOSTCC at the command line.
In order to get back that feature, this commit adds "cross-tools" target.
Usage:
Build tools for the host
$ make CROSS_COMPILE=<cross_gcc_prefix> tools
Build tools for the target
$ make CROSS_COMPILE=<cross_gcc_prefix> cross_tools
Besides, "make cross_tools" strip tools programs because we
generally expect smaller storages on embedded systems.

As an example of how to write a uclass and a driver, provide a demo version
of each, accessible through the 'demo' command.
To use these with driver model, define CONFIG_CMD_DEMO and CONFIG_DM_DEMO.
The two demo drivers are enabled with CONFIG_DM_DEMO_SIMPLE and
CONFIG_DM_DEMO_SHAPE.

Add some tests of driver model functionality. Coverage includes:
- basic init
- binding of drivers to devices using platform_data
- automatic probing of devices when referenced
- availability of platform data to devices
- lifecycle from bind to probe to remove to unbind
- renumbering within a uclass when devices are probed/removed
- calling driver-defined operations
- deactivation of drivers when removed
- memory leak across creation and destruction of drivers/uclasses
- uclass init/destroy methods
- automatic probe/remove of children/parents when needed
This function is enabled for sandbox, using CONFIG_DM_TEST.

This includes data structures and base code for registering devices and
uclasses (groups of devices with the same purpose, e.g. all I2C ports will
be in the same uclass).

Add support for building a device tree for sandbox's CONFIG_OF_HOSTFILE
option to make it easier to use device tree with sandbox.
This adjusts the Makefile to build a u-boot.dtb file which can be passed
to sandbox U-Boot with:

Move sanity check to prepare1 target to avoid nasty troubles.
Before this commit, LDSCRIPT existence was not checked
when it was specified by CONFIG_SYS_LDSCRIPT.
Now LDSCRIPT existence is checked for all boards.
$(wildcard $(LDSCRIPT)) must point to the linker scripts
with absolute path.
Otherwise, make will terminate with a false error
on out-of-tree build.

Before this commit, make terminated with an error
where is shouldn't under some condition.
This bug happened when we built a board unsupporting
generic board right after building with generic board.
For example, the following sequence failed.
(harmony uses generic board but microblaze-generic does not
support it)
$ make harmony_config
Configuring for harmony board...
$ make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabi-
[ Build succeed ]
$ make microblaze-generic_config
Configuring for microblaze-generic board...
$ make CROSS_COMPILE=microblaze-linux-
Makefile:488: *** Your architecture does not support generic board.
Please undefined CONFIG_SYS_GENERIC_BOARD in your board config file. Stop.
We had to do "make clean" before building the microblaze board.
This commit fixes this unconvenience.
Move generic board sanity check to "prepare1" target,
which is run after generation of include/autoconf.mk.

Before this commit, __ASM_OFFSETS_H__ was used for both of them.

Before this commit, the same variable name, "U_BOOT_VERSION"

It takes the form like "U-Boot 2014.01-rc1-00010-gbe6d426-dirty"
and used in C and Aseembler.
It is confusing when grepping the source tree. So, this commit
renames the former to UBOOTVERSION.

If -fstack-usage option is given to crosstools
that do not support it, gcc displays a warning message
but still exits with status 0.
This means we can not rely on $(call cc-option,...)
to detect if -fstack-usage option is supported or not.

These two conflicts arise from commit 0b2d3f20
("ARM: NET: Remove the IXP NPE ethernet driver") and are
resolved by deleting the drivers/net/npe/Makefile file
and removing the CONFIG_IXP4XX_NPE line from Makefile.
Useful rules in scripts/Makefile.lib allows us to easily
generate a device tree blob and wrap it in assembly code.
We do not need to parse a linker script to get output format and arch.
This commit deletes ./u-boot.dtb since it is a copy of dts/dt.dtb.

By using scripts/Makefile.clean, we can recursively descend

If you specify a variable at a command line like:
$ make MTD_VERSION=old env
or specify it thru an envrionment variable like:
$ export MTD_VERSION=old
$ make env
it is inherited to the sub-make too.

This commit changes the top Makefile to handle various targets
nicely.
Make targets are divided into four categories:
- mixed-targets
We can call a configuration target and build targets
at one command line like follows:
$ make <board_name>_config u-boot

Before this commit, "make tidy" did
"make clean" + delete "*.depend*" files.
But, we do not have "*.depend*" files any more,
which means "make tidy" is the same as "make clean".
This commit removes the redandant target "tidy".

Before this commit, {spl,tpl}-autoconf.mk was always generated
at the top Makefile even if SPL(TPL) build was not selected.
This commit moves the build rule of {spl,tpl}-autoconf.mk
from the top Makefile to spl/Makefile.
It prevents unnecessary {spl,tpl}-autoconf.mk from being
generated.

Now we are ready to switch over to real Kbuild.
This commit disables temporary scripts:
scripts/{Makefile.build.tmp, Makefile.host.tmp}
and enables real Kbuild scripts:
scripts/{Makefile.build,Makefile.host,Makefile.lib}.
This switch is triggered by the line in scripts/Kbuild.include
-build := -f $(if $(KBUILD_SRC),$(srctree)/)scripts/Makefile.build.tmp obj
+build := -f $(if $(KBUILD_SRC),$(srctree)/)scripts/Makefile.build obj
We need to adjust some build scripts for U-Boot.
But smaller amount of modification is preferable.
Additionally, we need to fix compiler flags which are
locally added or removed.
In Kbuild, it is not allowed to change CFLAGS locally.
Instead, ccflags-y, asflags-y, cppflags-y,
CFLAGS_$(basetarget).o, CFLAGS_REMOVE_$(basetarget).o
are prepared for that purpose.

This commit changes the working directory
where the build process occurs.
Before this commit, build process occurred under the source
tree for both in-tree and out-of-tree build.
That's why we needed to add $(obj) prefix to all generated
files in makefiles like follows:
$(obj)u-boot.bin: $(obj)u-boot
Here, $(obj) is empty for in-tree build, whereas it points
to the output directory for out-of-tree build.
And our old build system changes the current working directory
with "make -C <sub-dir>" syntax when descending into the
sub-directories.
On the other hand, Kbuild uses a different idea
to handle out-of-tree build and directory descending.
The build process of Kbuild always occurs under the output tree.
When "O=dir/to/store/output/files" is given, the build system
changes the current working directory to that directory and
restarts the make.
Kbuild uses "make -f $(srctree)/scripts/Makefile.build obj=<sub-dir>"
syntax for descending into sub-directories.
(We can write it like "make $(obj)=<sub-dir>" with a shorthand.)
This means the current working directory is always the top
of the output directory.

Before this commit, most of compiler flags were defined in config.mk.
But it is redundant because config.mk is included from all recursive make.
This commit moves many complier flags to the top Makefile
and export them.
And we use new vaiarables to store them:
KBUILD_CPPFLAGS, KBUILD_CFLAGS, KBUILD_AFLAGS.
This will allow us to switch more smoothly to Kbuild.

This commit moves some variable definitions from config.mk
to the top Makefile:
- HOSTCC, HOSTCFLAGS, HOSTLDFLAGS
- AS, LD, CC, CPP, etc.
- SHELL (renamed to CONFIG_SHELL)
I'd like to slim down config.mk file
because it is included from all recursive make.
It is redundant to re-define the variables
every time descending into sub directories.
We should rather define them at the top Makefile
and export them.
U-Boot makefiles has been used "SHELL" variable to store shell
chosen for the user, whereas Linux Kernel uses "CONFIG_SHELL".
We should never use "SHELL" variable because it is
a special variable for GNU Make.
Changing SHELL may cause unpredictable side effects
whose root cause is usually difficult to find.
We should use a generic variable name "CONFIG_SHELL".
We should not use the syntax as follows either:
rm -f $(obj)tools/env/{fw_printenv,fw_setenv}
This depends on "bash" although GNU Make generally
invokes "sh" to run the each rule.

While performing relocations on u-boot.bin should be good enough for
booting on real hardware, some simulators insist on booting an ELF file
(and yet don't perform ELF relocations), so convert the relocated
binary back into an ELF file. This can go away in the future if we
change relocate-rela to operate directly on the ELF file, or if and
when we stop caring about a simulator with this restriction.

ARM64 uses the newer RELA-style relocations rather than the older REL.
RELA relocations have an addend in the relocation struct, rather than
expecting the loader to read a value from the location to be updated.
While this is beneficial for ordinary program loading, it's problematic
for U-Boot because the location to be updated starts out with zero,
rather than a pre-relocation value. Since we need to be able to run C
code before relocation, we need a tool to apply the relocations at
build time.
In theory this tool is applicable to other newer architectures (mainly
64-bit), but currently the only relocations it supports are for arm64,
and it assumes a 64-bit little-endian target. If the latter limitation
is ever to be changed, we'll need a way to tell the tool what format
the image is in. Eventually this may be replaced by a tool that uses
libelf or similar and operates directly on the ELF file. I've written
some code for such an approach but libelf does not make it easy to poke
addresses by memory address (rather than by section), and I was
hesitant to write code to manually parse the program headers and do the
update outside of libelf (or to iterate over sections) -- especially
since it wouldn't get test coverage on things like binaries with
multiple PT_LOAD segments. This should be good enough for now to let
the manual relocation stuff be removed from the arm64 patches.

Before this commit, a broken pipe error sometimes happened
when building lcd4_lwmon5 board with Buildman.
This commit re-writes build rules of
u-boot.spr and u-boot-img-spl-at-end.bin
more simply without using a pipe.
Besides fixing a broken pipe error,
this commit gives us other advantages:
- Do not generate intermidiate files, spl/u-boot-spl.img
and spl/u-boot-spl-pad.img for creating u-boot.spr
- Do not generate an intermidiate file, u-boot-pad.img
for creating u-boot-img-spl-at-end.bin
Such intermidiate files were not deleted by "make clean" or "make mrpropr".
Nor u-boot-pad.img was ignored by git.

We have some scripts imported from Linux Kernel:
setlocalversion, checkstack.pl, checkpatch.pl, cleanpatch
They are located under tools/ directory in U-Boot now.
But they were originally located under scripts/ directory
in Linux Kernel.
This commit moves them to the original location.
It is true that binutils-version.sh and dtc-version.sh
do not originate in Linux Kernel, but they should
be moved by analogy to gcc-version.sh.

Some editors such as Emacs can highlight source files.
But their parser algorithm is not perfect.
If you use one double-quotation alone, some editor cannot
handle it nicely and mark source lines as a string by mistake.
It is preferable to use two double-quotations as a pair.

It is possible to perform the innverse operation -- extracting any file from
the image -- by using the dumpimage's -i option:
$ dumpimage -i multi.img -p 2 System.map
Although it's feasible to retrieve "data files" from image through scripting,
the requirement to embed tools such 'dd', 'awk' and 'sed' for this sole purpose
is cumbersome and unreliable -- once you must keep track of file sizes inside
the image. Furthermore, extracting data files using "dumpimage" tool is faster
than through scripting.

Current LDS files /DISCARD/ a lot of sections when linking ELF
files, causing diagnostic tools such as readelf or objdump to
produce partial output. Keep all section at link stage, filter
only at objcopy time so that .bin remains minimal.

Until this commit we used to grep switch so that U-Boot style

Every makefile in sub directories has common lines
at the top and the bottom.
This commit pushes the common parts into script/Makefile.build.
Going forward sub-makefiles only need to describe this part:
COBJS := ...
COBJS += ...
SOBJS := ...
But using obj-y is preferable to prepare for switching to Kbuild.
The conventional (non-Kbuild) Makefile style is still supported.
This is achieved by greping the Makefile before entering into it.
U-Boot conventional sub makefiles always include some other makefiles.
So the build system searches a line beginning with "include" keyword
in the makefile in order to distinguish which style it is.
If the Makefile include a "include" line, we assume it is a conventional
U-Boot style. Otherwise, it is treated as a Kbuild-style makefile.
With this tweak, we can switch sub-makefiles
from U-Boot style to Kbuild style little by little.
obj-y := foo/
syntax (descending into the sub directory) is not supportd yet.
It will be implemented in the upcomming commit.

In commit 27af930, the top Makefile was adjusted to the new
boards.cfg format.
But at the same time, -d option was added.
If you configure and make separately, for example
like follows:
make omap4_panda_config
make CROSS_COMPILE=<your_compiler_prefix>
it works fine as it did before.
But if you do them in one time like follows:
make omap4_panda CROSS_COMPILE=<your_compiler_prefix>
The log is sprinkled with annoying make debug messages.
This commit deletes -d option again.

Due to the nand SPL on some board(e.g. P1022DS)has a size limit, it can
not be more than 4K. So, the SPL cannot initialize the DDR with the SPD
code. This patch introduces TPL to enable a loader stub that is loaded
by the code from the SPL. It initializes the DDR with the SPD or other
operations.
The TPL's size is sizeable, the maximum size is decided by the memory's
size that TPL runs. It initializes the DDR through SPD code, and copys
final uboot image to DDR. So there are three stage uboot images:
* spl_boot, * tpl_boot, * final uboot image

SPL defines CONFIG_SPL_BUILD but this does not percolate to the
autoconf.mk Makefile. As a result the build breaks when
CONFIG_SPL_BUILD is used in the board-specific include header file. With
this, there is a possibility of having a CONFIG option defined in the
header file but not defined in the Makefile causing all kinds of build
failure and problems.
It also messes things for up, for example, when one might want to
undefine options to keep the SPL small and doesn't want to be stuck with
the CONFIG options used for U-boot. Lastly, this also avoids defining
special CONFIG_SPL_ variables for cases where some options are required
in U-boot but not in SPL.
We add a spl-autoconf.mk rule that is generated for SPL with the
CONFIG_SPL_BUILD flag and conditionally include it for SPL builds.

Like many other projects, U-Boot has a tradition of including big
blocks of License headers in all files. This not only blows up the
source code with mostly redundant information, but also makes it very
difficult to generate License Clearing Reports. An additional problem
is that even the same lincenses are referred to by a number of
slightly varying text blocks (full, abbreviated, different
indentation, line wrapping and/or white space, with obsolete address
information, ...) which makes automatic processing a nightmare.
To make this easier, such license headers in the source files will be
replaced with a single line reference to Unique Lincense Identifiers
as defined by the Linux Foundation's SPDX project [1]. For example,
in a source file the full "GPL v2.0 or later" header text will be
replaced by a single line:
SPDX-License-Identifier: GPL-2.0+
We use the SPDX Unique Lincense Identifiers here; these are available
at [2].
Note: From the legal point of view, this patch is supposed to be only
a change to the textual representation of the license information,
but in no way any change to the actual license terms. With this patch
applied, all files will still be licensed under the same terms they
were before.
Note 2: The apparent difference between the old "COPYING" and the new
"Licenses/gpl-2.0.txt" only results from switching to the upstream
version of the license which is differently formatted; there are not
any actual changes to the content.
Note 3: There are some recurring questions about linense issues, such
as:
- Is a "All Rights Reserved" clause a problem in GPL code?
- Are files without any license header a problem?
- Do we need license headers at all?

RSA provides a public key encryption facility which is ideal for image
signing and verification.
Images are signed using a private key by mkimage. Then at run-time, the
images are verified using a private key.
This implementation uses openssl for the host part (mkimage). To avoid
bringing large libraries into the U-Boot binary, the RSA public key
is encoded using a simple numeric representation in the device tree.

This patch adds generic codes to support Freescale's Vybrid VF610 CPU.
It aligns Vybrid VF610 platform with i.MX platform. As there are
some differences between VF610 and i.MX platforms, the specific
codes are in the arch/arm/cpu/armv7/vf610 directory.

Even when eventually building u-boot-dtb-tegra.bin, separately building
u-boot-nodtb-tegra.bin can be useful, since building it encapsulates the
SPL padding step. If you want to tweak u-boot.dtb and regenerate
u-boot-dtb-tegra.bin, it is then a simple cat operation.

The u-boot-imx23.bd and u-boot-imx28.bd need to be preprocessed, otherwise
they have issues with out-of-tree build where elftosb tool couldn't sometimes
find the u-boot.bin and spl/u-boot-spl.bin .
Preprocess these .bd files with sed and insert full path to u-boot.bin and
spl/u-boot-spl.bin to prevent this issue. Moreover, to avoid adding more
churn into main Makefile, move all this preprocessing and u-boot.sb generation
into CPU directory instead.

At present the generic board error can occur when configuring U-Boot, or
during distclean, but this is incorrect. The existing autoconf.mk may come
from an earlier U-Boot configuration which is about to be overwritten.
Make the error conditional so that it will only be triggered when we are
actually building U-Boot.
This avoids a problem where the system is being reconfigured to remove
CONFIG_SYS_GENERIC_BOARD on an architecture that does not support it.
Currently this will print an error and require the manual removal of
include/autoconf.mk.

This patch moves the following functions into the imx-common
directory:
- mxs_wait_mask_set()
- mxs_wait_mask_clr()
- mxs_reset_block()
These are currently used by i.MX28. But the upcoming GPMI NAND port
for i.MX6 will also use these functions. So lets move them to a
common location to re-use them.

This new make target "u-boot-img-spl-at-end.bin" consists of the
the real, full-blown U-Boot image and the U-Boot SPL binary
directly attached to it. The full-blown U-Boot image has the
mkimage header included, with its load-address and entry-point.
This will be used by the upcoming lwmon5 PPC440EPx derivate board
port.

The migration of boards from Makefile to boards.cfg was due for v2012.03, but
smdk6400 did not follow, and it does not build, so move it to scrapyard. It will
still be possible to restore it from the Git history before fixing it.

This image combines the SPL with the i.MX header, the FCB and U-Boot.
For i.MX25/35/51, the FCB is ignored by the boot ROM, so this image is just
useful because it can be programmed on a NAND Flash page boundary.
For i.MX53, the FCB is required by the boot ROM.
This does not support i.MX6 so far because its FCB is more complicated.

This image combines the SPL with the i.MX header and U-Boot. This is a
convenient way of having a single image to program on some boot devices.
The i.MX header has to be added to the SPL before appending U-Boot, so that the
boot ROM loads only the SPL.

make never uses the SHELL variable from the environment. Instead, it
uses /bin/sh, or the value assigned to the SHELL variable by the Makefile. This
makes the export of the SHELL variable useless for sub-makes (but still useful
for the environment of recipes). However, we want all makes to use the same
shell.
This patch fixes this issue by moving the SHELL variable setup and export to the
top config.mk, so that all Makefile-s including it use the same shell.
Since BASH is used by default, this makes it possible to use things
like 'echo -e ...' in sub-makes, which would otherwise fail e.g. with /bin/sh
symlinked to /bin/dash on Ubuntu.

Change CONFIG_SPL_PAD_TO from a link address to an image offset since this is
more handy and closer to the purpose of this config.
Automatically define CONFIG_SPL_PAD_TO to CONFIG_SPL_MAX_SIZE (or 0 without
CONFIG_SPL_MAX_SIZE).
Test that CONFIG_SPL_PAD_TO >= CONFIG_SPL_MAX_SIZE if CONFIG_SPL_PAD_TO is
non-zero.

It was noticed that when `make distclean' is run, the make process
terminates with error reporting something like:
rm: cannot remove '/tmp/foobar/': Is a directory
make: *** [clobber] Error 1
The problem is that the list of files targeted for removal includes a
directory in case CONFIG_SPL_TARGET is not set.
The fix has been tested as follows:
Ran several times the following sequence of commands:
CROSS_COMPILE=/usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi- make O=/tmp/foobar smdk5250_config
CROSS_COMPILE=/usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi- make O=/tmp/foobar distclean
it did not cause an error, it used to before this change.

Refactor linker-generated array code so that symbols
which were previously linker-generated are now compiler-
generated. This causes relocation records of type
R_ARM_ABS32 to become R_ARM_RELATIVE, which makes
code which uses LGA able to run before relocation as
well as after.
Note: this affects more than ARM targets, as linker-
lists span possibly all target architectures, notably
PowerPC.

When calling 'make u-boot.imx' the build were failing as it were
expecting the full path for the file; this regression has been
included by commit 71a988a (imximage.cfg: run files through C
preprocessor).
The direct references for u-boot.imx were replaced by $(obj) as
config.mk handles the proper setting of it making it set to $(OBJTREE)
when required.
The build has been test using:
- ./MAKEALL -s mx5 -s mx6
- make u-boot.imx
- make O=/tmp/build

trouble, so change to /* */.
The mkimage command which uses this preprocessor output
was moved to arch/arm/imx-common/Makefile

This commit merges branches from samsung, imx and tegra
meant to fix merge issues between u-boot/master and
u-boot-arm/master, as well as a few manual merge fixes.
This was already used by some SPL targets, and allows the pad amount to
be specified by board config headers rather than only in makefile
fragments.
Also supply a pad-to of zero if the variable is undefined. It works
without this, but this avoids relying on undocumented behavior.

This patch enabled boards using the SPL framework to set
an entry point in the U-Boot mkimage image "u-boot.img".
Until now the entry point in the header has been set to 0.
By setting CONFIG_SYS_UBOOT_START in the board header, boards
can override this default location.
This will be used by the upcoming a3m071 MPC5200 board port.

When running from coreboot we don't want this code.
This version works by ifdef-ing out all of the code that would go
into those sections and all the code that refers to it. The sections are
then empty, and the linker will either leave them empty for the loader
to ignore or remove them entirely.

This was introduced by commit 2446151974, but it
fails in a minimal SPL build where the only thing in arch/powerpc/lib is
cache.c, which apparently doesn't generate any fixup records.
The problem is reported to occur with GCC 3.x, so insist on GCC 4.0 or newer.
Patterned after checkthumb as suggested by Tom Rini.

Existing U-Boot musb driver has no support for the new gadget framework
and also seems to have other limitations. As gadget framework is ported
from Linux it seems pretty natural to port musb gadget driver as well.
This driver supports both host and peripheral modes.
This is not a replacement for current musb driver (at least now) as
there are still some consumers of the old UDC interface.
No DMA operation support included, CONFIG_MUSB_PIO_ONLY should be
defined.
Virtual root hub device is not implemented.
Known problems: with no devices connected usb_lowlevel_start() fails.

Implement "ls" and "fsload" commands that act like {fat,ext2}{ls,load},
and transparently handle either file-system. This scheme could easily be
extended to other filesystem types; I only didn't do it for zfs because
I don't have any filesystems of that type to test with.
Replace the implementation of {fat,ext[24]}{ls,load} with this new code
too.

SX1 does not build properly by itself, is not built
as part of MAKEALL arm or MAKEALL -a arm, and is only
present in Makefile, not boards.cfg. As it also has no
entry in MAINTAINERS, it is orphan and non-functional.

This change adds CBFS support and some commands to use it to u-boot. These
commands are:
cbfsinit - Initialize CBFS support and pull all metadata into RAM. The end of
the ROM is an optional parameter which defaults to the standard 0xffffffff and
can be used to support multiple CBFSes in a system. The last one set up with
cbfsinit is the one that will be used.
cbfsinfo - Print information from the CBFS header.
cbfsls - Print out the size, type, and name of all the files in the current
CBFS. Recognized types are translated into symbolic names.
cbfsload - Load a file from CBFS into memory. Like the similar command for fat
filesystems, you can optionally provide a maximum size.
Support for CBFS is compiled in when the CONFIG_CMD_CBFS option is specified.
The CBFS driver can also be used programmatically from within u-boot.
If u-boot needs something out of CBFS very early before the heap is
configured, it won't be able to use the normal CBFS support which caches some
information in memory it allocates from the heap. The
cbfs_file_find_uncached function searches a CBFS instance without touching
the heap.

This patch adds essential components for generation of the contents of
the linker section that is used by the linker-generated array. All of
the contents is held in a separate file, u-boot.lst, which is generated
at runtime just before U-Boot is linked.
The purpose of this code is to especially generate the appropriate
boundary symbols around each subsection in the section carrying the
linker-generated arrays. Obviously, the interim linker code for actual
placement of the variables into the section is generated too. The
generated file, u-boot.lst, is included into u-boot.lds via the linker
INCLUDE directive in u-boot.lds .
Adjustments are made in the Makefile and spl/Makefile so that the
u-boot.lds and u-boot-spl.lds depend on their respective .lst files.

Pull slightly modified version of Documentation/DocBook, the related perl
script scripts/kernel-doc and the scripts/docproc.c from Linux kernel and
implant it into U-Boot. This will allow smooth generation of kerneldoc
style documentation.
It was necessary to modify the DocBook/Makefile to work with U-Boot build
system. The changes were only minor though and involved replacing the kbuild
specific parts.
It was also necessary to replace use of variables like KERNEL_VERSION with
U_BOOT_VERSION, strings like Linux kernel with U-Boot Bootloader etc. so
the generated result actually matches.
Finally, it was necessary to adjust docproc.c, since the documentation in
U-Boot is located in doc/DocBook instead of Documentation/DocBook as is in
case of the Linux kernel.
Some parts of the DocBook Makefile are unused, but to allow easier sync with
Linux kernel, these parts are still left in. The targets enabled now are
"htmldocs" "pdfdocs" "psdocs" "xmldocs" and "cleandocs" to remove the results
of documentation build.

Move files that are going to be common between T20 and T30 into 'tegra-common'
subdirs in AVP (arm720t), CPU (armv7), and shared (arch/arm/cpu/.) areas. Any
files that are left behind in '/tegra20' will be copied to '/tegra30' subdirs
and modified for that SoC. The 'common' files should need only minor changes.
Include files (arch/arm/include/asm/arch-tegra/tegra20) will be done in a
follow-on patch.
Builds fine w/MAKEALL -s tegra20. Checkpatch.pl is clean.

Add support for running source code checkers on u-boot source, e.g.,
using sparse to aid with typechecking. This comes in especially
handy as SoC vendors mix and match cores and devices with different
endianness, thus here we add CHECK_ENDIAN to the otherwise linux
kernel default CHECKFLAGS.

Up now only MX5 and MX6 can share code, because they have
a common source directory in cpu/armv7. Other not armv7
i.MX can profit of the same shared code. Move these files
into a directory accessible for all, similar to plat-mxc
in linux.

Add target for tegra20 u-boot image. This is a concatenation of tegra
spl and normal u-boot binaries. For non-devicetree builds this is
named "u-boot-nodtb-tegra.bin" for devicetree builds is named
"u-boot-dtb-tegra.bin".

Parameters used for configuring certain SoC peripherals are parsed
from the cfg file and appended as part of the ais image's header. The
u-boot-spl.ais generated is flashed separately to the nand, so do not
delete the file after generation of u-boot.ais.

Provides a tool to build boot Image for PBL(Pre boot loader) which is
used on Freescale CoreNet SoCs, PBL can be used to load some instructions
and/or data for pre-initialization. The default output image is u-boot.pbl,

Since run_command() and run_command_list() are important and a little
confusing, add some basic tests to check that the behaviour is correct.
Note: I am not sure that this should be committed, nor where it should go
in the source tree. Comments welcome.
To run the unit tests use the ut_cmd command available in sandbox:
make sandbox_config
make
./u-boot -c ut_cmd
(To test both hush and built-in parsers, you need to manually change
CONFIG_SYS_HUSH_PARSER in include/configs/sandbox.h and build/run again)

On x600 (SPEAr600) U-Boot is appended to U-Boot SPL. Both images are
created using mkimage (crc etc), so that the ROM bootloader can check
its integrity. Padding needs to be done to the SPL image (with
mkimage header) and not the binary. Otherwise the resulting image
which is loaded/copied by the ROM bootloader to SRAM doesn't fit.
The resulting image containing both U-Boot images is called u-boot.spr.

Most link scripts differ only in the directory containing the start.o
file. Make this a #define to remove this last difference.
(Note that if start.o were disallowed outside the CPU start directory then
we wouldn't even need this. But that is a separate discussion.)

The Makefile for a CPU is in arch/($ARCH)/cpu/$(CPU). We want to support
having an .lds file in arch/$(ARCH)/cpu without requiring an additional
Makefile there. This change makes it clear that we expect a Makefile in
the same directory as the link script except in this case.

In order to support the coming MX6 platform and to reducde
the duplicated code, we had better move some common files
or functions to the imx-common folder for sharing.
This patch does the following:
- move speed.c file from armv7/mx5/speed.c to armv7/imx-common/speed.c
- move armv7/mx5/timer.c to armv7/imx-common/timer.c, no any new feature
added but just fix the checkpatch errors in the old file and remove
the CONFIG_SYS_MX5_CLK32 reference in the file
- create one new file cpu.c file to store the common function with i.mx5/6

As per new naming convention for Samsung SoC's, all Cortex-A9 and Cortex-A15
based SoC's will be classified under the name Exynos. Cortex-A9 and Cortex-A15
based SoC's will be sub-classified as Exynos4 and Exynos5 respectively.
In order to better adapt and reuse code across various upcoming Samsung Exynos
based boards, all uses of s5pc210 prefix/suffix/directory-names are renamed in
this patch. s5pc210 is renamed as exynos4210 and S5PC210/s5pc210 suffix/prefix
are renamed as exynos4/EXYNOS4.

TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is an integrated circuit and
software platform that provides computer manufacturers with the
core components of a subsystem used to assure authenticity,
integrity and confidentiality.
This driver supports version 1.2 of the TCG (Trusted Computing
Group) specifications.
The TCG specification defines several so called localities in a
TPM chip, to be controlled by different software layers. When
used on a typical x86 platform during the firmware phase, only
locality 0 can be accessed by the CPU, so this driver even while
supporting the locality concept presumes that only locality zero
is used.
This implementation is loosely based on the article "Writing a
TPM Device Driver" published on http://ptgmedia.pearsoncmg.com
Compiling this driver with DEBUG defined will generate trace of
all accesses to TMP registers.
This driver has been tested and is being used in three different
functional ChromeOS machines (Pinetrail and Sandy Bridge Intel
chipsets) all using the same Infineon SLB 9635 TT 1.2 device.
A u-boot cli command allowing access to the TPM was also
implemented and is being submitted as a second patch.

It is sometimes desireable to clean up the byproducts of the build
process without removing the executable results. "make clean" is
close, but leaves the build directory with a large number of
*.depend* files. This new build option invokes make clean, and then
removes the depend files.

The generated header bmp_logo.h is useful even outside common/lcd.c for
the logo dimension. However, the problem is, the generated bmp_logo.h
cannot be included multiple times because bmp_logo_palette[] and
bmp_logo_bitmap[] are defined in the bmp_logo.h.
This patch fixes this by defining these arrays in another header
bmp_logo_data.h and in bmp_logo.h only declaring these arrays.

The check for sandbox architecture is too early in the Makefile, so
standalone and api are built regardless. This moves the check until
after autoconf.mk has been read.
This fixes a build breakage.

U-Boot Makefiles contain a number of tests for compiler features etc.
which so far are executed again and again. On some architectures
(especially ARM) this results in a large number of calls to gcc.
This patch makes sure to run such tests only once, thus largely
reducing the number of "execve" system calls.
Example: number of "execve" system calls for building the "P2020DS"
(Power Architecture) and "qong" (ARM) boards, measured as:
-> strace -f -e trace=execve -o /tmp/foo ./MAKEALL <board>
-> grep execve /tmp/foo | wc -l

This adds support for an FDT to be build as a separate binary file called
u-boot.dtb. This can be concatenated with the U-Boot binary to provide a
device tree located at run-time by U-Boot. The Makefile is modified to
provide this file in u-boot-dtb.bin.

This new option allows U-Boot to embed a binary device tree into its image
to allow run-time control of peripherals. This device tree is for U-Boot's
own use and is not necessarily the same one as is passed to the kernel.
The device tree compiler output should be placed in the $(obj)
rooted tree. Since $(OBJCOPY) insists on adding the path to the
generated symbol names, to ensure consistency it should be
invoked from the directory where the .dtb file is located and
given the input file name without the path.
This commit contains my entry for the ugliest Makefile / shell interaction
competition.

The current autoconf.mk.dep rule uses the host cflags when executing the
target compiler (which includes target header files). We don't want to
mix the target compiler and host compiler flags, so change it to CFLAGS.
Otherwise we get things like -pedantic which the U-Boot source code does
not build with.

The examples/api is not configured with USE_PRIVATE_LIBGCC. This makes
building examples/api break on certain boards that do not/cannot use the
public libgcc.
Nevertheless, this patch has to also touch the top-level Makefile to fix
this problem because the current top-level Makefile does not specify
libgcc as a prerequisite of examples/api, and explicitly builds
examples/api _before_ libgcc.
For testing this patch, I added the following to configs/seaboard.h and
ran demo.bin on a Seaboard.

There is a rather subtle build problem where the build time stamp is not
updated for out-of-tree builds if there exists an in-tree build which
has a valid timestamp file. So if you do an in-tree build, then an
out-of-tree build your timestamp will not change.
The correct timestamp_autogenerated.h lives in the object tree, but it
is not always found there. The source still lives in the source tree and
when compiling version.h, it includes timestamp_autogenerated.h. Since
the current directory is always searched first, this will come from the
source tree rather than the object tree if it exists there. This affects
dependency generation also, which means that common/cmd_version.o will not
even be rebuilt if you have ever done an in-tree build.
A similar problem exists with the version file.
This change moves both files into the 'generated' subdir, which is already
used for asm-offsets.h. Then timestamp.h and version.h are updated to
include the files from there.
There are other places where these generated files are included, but I
cannot see why these don't just use the timestamp.h and version.h headers.
So this change also tidies that up.
I have tested this with in- and out-of-tree builds, but not SPL. I have
looked at various other options for fixing this, including sed on the dep
files, -I- and -include flags to gcc, but I don't think they can be made
to work. Comments welcome.

At this point U-Boot will build and run on x86 under Linux.
The idea is to define a new architecture called 'sandbox', alongside ARM
and x86. This runs natively on Linux to suit the host machine. All
hardware access is either omitted or emulated.
The purpose of this system is to test the bulk of the non-hardware-specific
U-Boot code. We can mock the SPI flash, GPIOs, UART and keyboard, then test
that U-Boot behaves as we wish.

The dependency rules are currently done in a shell 'for' loop. This does not
permit Makefile variables to adjust preprocessor flags as is done with normal
compile flags, using the CFLAGS_path/file.o syntax.
This change moves the dependency generation into the Makefile itself, and
permits a CPPFLAGS_path/file.o to adjust preprocessor flags on a file or
directory basis.
The CPPFLAGS_... variable is also folded into CFLAGS during the build.

Unified DDR driver is maintained for better performance, robustness and bug
fixes. Upgrading to use unified DDR driver for MPC83xx takes advantage of
overall improvement. It requires changes for board files to customize
platform-dependent parameters.
To utilize the unified DDR driver, a board needs to define CONFIG_FSL_DDRx
in the header file. No more boards will be accepted without such definition.
Note: the workaround for erratum DDR6 for the very old MPC834x Rev 1.0/1.1
and MPC8360 Rev 1.1/1.2 parts is not migrated to unified driver.

The Frame Manager (FMan) on QorIQ SoCs with DPAA (datapath acceleration
architecture) is the ethernet contoller block. Normally it is utilized
via Queue Manager (Qman) and Buffer Manager (Bman). However for boot
usage the FMan supports a mode similar to QE or CPM ethernet collers
called Independent mode.
Additionally the FMan block supports multiple 1g and 10g interfaces as a
single entity in the system rather than each controller being managed
uniquely. This means we have to initialize all of Fman regardless of
the number of interfaces we utilize.
Different SoCs support different combinations of the number of FMan as
well as the number of 1g & 10g interfaces support per Fman.
We add support for the following SoCs:
* P1023 - 1 Fman, 2x1g
* P4080 - 2 Fman, each Fman has 4x1g and 1x10g
* P204x/P3041/P5020 - 1 Fman, 5x1g, 1x10g

This deletes the integrator split_by_variant.sh script and
defines a number of unique board types for the core modules
that are meaningful to support for the Integrator AP/CP, i.e.
the ones that did not just say "unsupported core module" in

We delete all the old cruft in Makefile and MAKEALL that was
working around the old way of building boards. We create a
unique config file per board to satisfy the build system, but
they are just oneliners that include the existing
integratorap.h and integratorcp.h configs.

Now that the tools target requires the generated version header file, we
need to make sure that the directory it writes to exists. In a configured
tree, this is taken care of for us. But in an unconfigured one, the dir
does not yet exist causing a build error like so:
/bin/sh: line 5: ..../u-boot_build/include/version_autogenerated.h.tmp: No such file or directory
So create the dir for this file before we attempt to generate it.

This creates a standalone ELF that executes just the Blackfin initcode.
This is useful for people who want to program the low level aspects of
the CPU (memory/clocks/etc...) and can easily be used with JTAG for
quick booting while developing.

While looking to upgrade to zlib-1.2.5, the current mondo merge of
multiple files into a single was making things way more difficult
than it should have been. Hard to pick out what has been changed
to port it to U-Boot, been removed as useless, and bug fixes added
after the fact.
So split the single file up into the original file names, and merge
non-essential changes back from the original tree (for some reason,
style in code in a bunch of places was changed to U-Boot style even
though this isn't "U-Boot" code).
The original build style is retained -- we have a single zlib.c that
includes all the other files, and that is the only file we compile.

This adds support for using USB Ethernet dongles in host mode. This is just
the framework - drivers will come later. A new config option called
CONFIG_USB_HOST_ETHER can be defined in board config files to switch this
on.
The was originally written by NVIDIA and was cleaned up for release by the
Chromium authors.

Linker needs to use the proper endian/bfd flags even when doing partial linking.
LDFLAGS_u-boot sets linker option which is called it when U-boot is built
(u-boot final).
LDFLAGS sets necessary option by partial linking (use in cmd_link_o_target).

When building with srctree != objtree, the build creates arch/soc/cpu
specific symlinks in the source tree. This means that the same source
tree can't be used for multiple builds at the same time. Also, these
symlinks in the source tree are only cleaned up if one passes the same
O= to distclean.
When srctree != objtree, mkconfig creates an $objtree/include2 directory
in the objtree to host the asm -> arch/$arch/include/asm symlink so that
"#include <asm>" can be used. But it also creates another identical
symlink in $objtree/include.
Then, mkconfig creates two symlinks:
$objtree/include/asm/arch -> arch/$arch/include/asm/arch-$cpu (or $soc)
$objtree/include/asm/proc -> arch/$arch/include/asm/proc-armv (on arm)
but because $objtree/include/asm points at $srctree already, the two
symlinks are created under $srctree.
To fix this, create a real $objtree/include/asm directory, instead of a
symlink. Update cleanup code accordingly.

Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols
found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of
binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not
extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols".
This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead
of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in
linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended.
This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function
cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is
inspired.
The name of each former library archive is preserved except for
extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates
references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker
scripts.
This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but
include source files that depend these disabled features in the build,
resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include:
- disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS;
- enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE.

For ARM systems, before ELF relocation was introduced,
CONFIG_SKIP_RELOCATE_UBOOT coul be used to prevent *COPYING* the
U-Boot image from whereever it was loaded to it's link address
(CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE). The name was badly chosen, as no relocation
was performed at all, it was just a memcpy().
With ELF relocation, this does not work like that any more, and
related boards need to be fixed anyway. So don't keep this relict any
longer.

After moving the definition of CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE to the respective
board config files, all Marvell kirkwood board have just a single and
common entry in their config.mk files:
KWD_CONFIG = $(SRCTREE)/board/$(BOARDDIR)/kwbimage.cfg
Replace the only reference to KWD_CONFIG in the top level Makefile by
an equivalent setting, and remove all kirkwood config.mk files.

A recurrent issue is that certain C level constructs like sizeof() or
offsetof() cannot be used in assembler files, which is inconvenient
when such constructs are used in the definition of macro names etc.
To avoid duplication of such definitions (and thus another cause of
problems), we adapt the Linux way to automatically generate the
respective definitions from the respective C header files.
In Linux, this is implemented in include/linux/kbuild.h, Kbuild, and
arch/*/kernel/asm-offsets.c; we adapt the code from the Linux v2.6.36
kernel tree.
We also copy the concept of the include/generated/ directory which can
be used to hold other automatically generated files as well.
We start with an architecture-independent lib/asm-offsets.c which
generates include/generated/generic-asm-offsets.h (included by
include/asm-offsets.h, which is what will be referred to in the actual
source code). Later this may be extended by architecture-specific
arch/*/lib/asm-offsets.c files that will generate a
include/generated/asm-offsets.h.

Boards often have a reserved size limit on the flash where they're stored.
Sometimes during upgrades or config changes, those limits are exceeded,
but no one notices until they try to upgrade and the limit screws things
up. Either not enough of U-Boot is written to flash (and so the reboot
fails), or too much is written (and so things after it get clobbered).
So allow boards to declare a size limit (in bytes) and have the build
system check it while building.

The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board
configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by
a simple, table driven script.
Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is
also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to
a Kconfig driven configuration system.

Originally the Makefile defines CONFIG_ADS5121_REV2 when configuring
for board mpc5121ads_rev2. The config in include/configs/mpc5121ads.h
expects a define CONFIG_MPC5121ADS_REV2 for this.
Therefore there are two defines used but only 1 is defined.
This patch renames references to CONFIG_ADS5121_REV2 to CONFIG_MPC5121ADS_REV2
to have one common define.
This patch fixes faulty mem size detection caused by wrong config in
include/configs/mpc5121ads.h

Most tool subdirs do not rely on a configured tree, so move those targets
out of the config checks and unify them in the process.
Also add an easylogo target so people can easily build that.

The helpful shortcut for doing a board config + make was dropped recently
as it conflicted with some new build code. However, the reason for using
pattern targets originally was to avoid managing a duplicate list of
boards. Since we now have one centralized place for a list of boards (the
new boards.cfg), we don't need a pattern target -- we can generate the
exact list of boards on the fly. So do just that.
When cleaning things up, the top level gitignore file ignores all things
that end with ".depend", but the clean target only deletes files that are
named exactly ".depend". Keep these in sync by having the clean target
punt all files that match the pattern that gitignore is using.

Instead of adding explicit build rules for each and every board to the
top level Makefile (which makes it grow and grow), we now provide a
simple default rule and extend the "mkconfig" script to read board
configurations from a plain text file (table), "boards.cfg".
For simple boards it is now sufficient to add a single line of text to
the "boards.cfg" file, no changes to the top level Makefile are needed
any more.
To make the table better readable, change the notation for unused
fields from "NULL" into "-".

Many boards don't need any special handling in the Makefile. Try and
provide as generic make rules for these as possible. There are still
many areas where this does not work out really well, but the changes
show the direction we should take, and point out which boards or
architectures need further cleanup.

Instead of stripping the "_config" part from the make target names in
each call of the "mkconfig" script let this script strip the string.
This prepares the ground for forther simplification of the top level

For all build targets the same board name would be printed, which
makes is often pretty difficult to find out which exact build target
caused problems. With this commit, the real make target name gets
printed instead, which is way more useful:

DA850/OMAP-L138 is a new SoC from Texas Instruments
(http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/omap-l138.html).
This SoC is similar to DA830/OMAP-L137 in many aspects. Hence
rename the da830 specific files and folders to da8xx to
accommodate DA850/OMAP-L138.

When we changed ARCH from ppc to powerpc we need to treat HOSTARCH the

This patch adds support for the magnesium board from
projectiondesign. This board uses i.MX27 SoC and has
8MB NOR flash, 128MB NAND flash, FEC ethernet controller
integrated into i.MX27. As this port is based on

This patch adds support for the Mosaix Technologies, Inc. ICON board,
based on the AppliedMicro (AMCC) PPC440SPe. It's equipped with an SODIMM
(512MB standard) and 64MByte of NOR FLASH.

This is a generic approach to port u-boot for nios2 boards.

A fpga parameter file, which contains base address information
and drivers declaration, is generated from Altera's hardware system
description sopc file using tools.
The example fpga parameter file is compatible with EP1C20, EP1S10
and EP1S40 boards. So these boards can be removed after this commit.
Though epcs controller is removed to cut the dependency of altera_spi
driver.

As discussed on the list, move "arch/ppc" to "arch/powerpc" to
better match the Linux directory structure.
Please note that this patch also changes the "ppc" target in
MAKEALL to "powerpc" to match this new infrastructure. But "ppc"
is kept as an alias for now, to not break compatibility with
scripts using this name.

The CPUDIR variable points to the location of a target's CPU directory.
Currently, it is set to cpu/$CPU. However, using $CPUDIR will allow for
more flexibility in the future. It lays the groundwork for reorganizing
U-Boot's directory structure to support a layout such as:
arch/$ARCH/cpu/$CPU/* (architecture with multiple CPU types)
arch/$ARCH/cpu/* (architecture with one CPU type)

Add support for the ARM part of the mgcoge2, named suen3.
This board is based on the Marvell Kirkwood (88F6281) SoC.
As there come more board variants, common config options
are collected in include/configs/km_arm.h. Also, this board
use common code for all keymile boards, which is stored in

commit 2e95004deb "mpc83xx: Add NAND boot support
for MPC8315E-RDB boards" symlinked nand_spl/board/freescale/mpc8315erdb to
mpc8313erdb in order to not duplicate code.
Since the main makefile builds nand_spl/board/$(BOARDDIR) (which makes sense),
and the board Makefile and linker script are the only two necessary files
to enable out-of-tree building, and other boards have duplicated nand makefiles
(e.g. 8536ds & 8569mds), it only seems prudent to copy these two files in the
name of the 8315 too.

It's useful to be able to build up the host tools without having to select
a board first. Pretty much all tools in there are config-independent
anyways.
Also add a shortcut "tools-all" to quickly build all host tools that are
actually config-independent to allow for simple test builds.

During parallel build, the top Makefile spawns multiple sub-makes for
targets in cpu/$(CPU) and $(dir $(LDSCRIPT)). If the .depend files are
not present in these directories, the sub-makes may end up generating
these files simultaneously which leads to corrupted content.
A typical error message is:
.depend:39: *** multiple target patterns. Stop.
This patch serializes the creation of .depend in cpu/$(CPU) and
$(dir $(LDSCRIPT)) by adding these directories to the depend target
in the top Makefile.
Other directories in $(LIBS) are not affected since they contain only
one Make target and thus only one sub-make is spawned per directory.

The caddy2 is a variant of the already supported vme8349. So we just
add the differences to this board port. To better support those two
boards we switched from fixed SDRAM configuration to usage of
spd_sdram(). This is done by providing a board specific SPD EEPROM
routine with different values for both boards.

The core support for NAND booting is there already, so this patch
is pretty straightforward.
There is one trick though: top level Makefile expects nand_spl to
be in nand_spl/board/$(BOARDDIR), but we can fully reuse the code
from mpc8313erdb boards, and so to not duplicate the code we just
symlink nand_spl/board/freescale/mpc8315erdb to mpc8313erdb.
