Some of Spansion/Cypress chips support Read/Write Any Register commands.
These commands are mainly used to write volatile registers and access to
the registers in second and subsequent die for multi-die package parts.
The Read Any Register instruction (65h) is followed by register address
and dummy cycles, then the selected register byte is returned.
The Write Any Register instruction (71h) is followed by register address
and register byte to write.

Since this flash doesn't have a Profile 1.0 table, the Octal DTR
capabilities are enabled in the post SFDP fixup, along with the 8D-8D-8D
fast read settings.
Enable Octal DTR mode with 20 dummy cycles to allow running at the
maximum supported frequency of 200Mhz.

The Cypress Semper flash is an xSPI compliant octal DTR flash. Add
support for using it in octal DTR mode.
The flash by default boots in a hybrid sector mode. Switch to uniform
sector mode on boot. Use the default 20 dummy cycles for a read fast
command.
The SFDP programming on some older versions of the flash was incorrect.
Fixes for that are included in the fixup hooks.

Some of Spansion/Cypress chips have overlaid 4KB sectors at top and/or
bottom, depending on the device configuration, while U-Boot supports
uniform sector layout only.
The spansion_erase_non_uniform() erases overlaid 4KB sectors,
non-overlaid portion of normal sector, and remaining normal sectors, by
selecting correct erase command and size based on the address to erase
and size of overlaid portion in parameters. Since different Spansion
flashes can use different opcode for erasing the 4K sectors, the opcode
must be passed in as a parameter based on the flash being used.

On devices with non-uniform sector sizes like Spansion S25 or S28 family
of flashes the sector under erase does not necessarily have to be
mtd->erasesize bytes long. For example, on S28 flashes the first 128 KiB
region is composed of 32 4 KiB sectors, then a 128 KiB sector, and then
256 KiB sectors till the end.
Let the flash-specific erase functions erase less than the requested
length in case of the 4 or 128 KiB sectors and report the number of
bytes erased back to the calling function.

When the flash is handed to us in a stateful mode like 8D-8D-8D, it is
difficult to detect the mode the flash is in. One option is to read SFDP
in all modes and see which one gives the correct "SFDP" signature, but
not all flashes support SFDP in 8D-8D-8D mode.
Further, even if you detect the mode of the flash via SFDP, you still
have the problem of actually reading the ID. The Read ID command is not
standardized across flash vendors. Flashes can have different dummy
cycles needed for reading the ID. Some flashes even expect a 4-byte
dummy address with the Read ID command. All this information cannot be
obtained from the SFDP table.
So, perform a Software Reset sequence before reading the ID and
initializing the flash. A Soft Reset will bring back the flash in its
default protocol mode assuming no non-volatile configuration was set.
This will let us detect the flash even if ROM hands it to us in Octal
DTR mode.
To accommodate cases where there is more than one flash on a board, and
only one of them needs a soft reset, failure to reset is not made fatal,
and we still try to read ID if possible.

On probe, the SPI NOR core will put a flash in 8D-8D-8D mode if it
supports it. But Linux as of now expects to get the flash in 1S-1S-1S
mode. Handing the flash to Linux in Octal DTR mode means the kernel will
fail to detect the flash.
So, we need to reset to Power-on-Reset (POR) state before handing off
the flash. A Software Reset command can be used to do this.
One limitation of the soft reset is that it will restore state from
non-volatile registers in some flashes. This means that if the flash was
set to 8D mode in a non-volatile configuration, a soft reset won't help.
This commit assumes that we don't set any non-volatile bits anywhere,
and the flash doesn't have any non-volatile Octal DTR mode
configuration.
Since spi-nor-tiny doesn't (and likely shouldn't) have
spi_nor_soft_reset(), add a dummy spi_nor_remove() for it that does
nothing.

The Micron MT35XU512ABA flash does not support the quad enable bit. But
instead of programming the Quad Enable Require field to 000b ("Device
does not have a QE bit"), it is programmed to 111b ("Reserved").
While this is technically incorrect, it is not reason enough to abort
BFPT parsing. Instead, continue BFPT parsing assuming there is no quad
enable bit present.

The xSPI Profile 1.0 table specifies how many dummy cycles and address
bytes are needed for the Read Status Register command in Octal DTR mode.
Use that information to send the correct Read SR command.
Some controllers might have trouble reading just 1 byte in DTR mode. So,
when we are in DTR mode read 2 bytes and discard the second. This shows
no side effects with the two flashes I tested: Micron mt35xu512aba and
Cypress s28hs512t.
Update Read FSR to mimic Read SR because they share the same
characteristics.

This table is indication that the flash is xSPI compliant and hence
supports octal DTR mode. Extract information like the fast read opcode,
the number of dummy cycles needed for a Read Status Register command,
and the number of address bytes needed for a Read Status Register
command.
The default dummy cycles for a fast octal DTR read are set to 20. Since
there is no simple way of determining the dummy cycles needed for the
fast read command, flashes that use a different value should update it
in their flash-specific hooks.

Some devices in DTR mode expect an extra command byte called the
extension. The extension can either be same as the opcode, bitwise
inverse of the opcode, or another additional byte forming a 16-byte
opcode. Get the extension type from the BFPT. For now, only flashes with
"repeat" and "inverse" extensions are supported.

JESD216 rev D makes BFPT 20 DWORDs. Update the BFPT size define to
reflect that.
The check for rev A or later compared the BFPT header length with the
maximum BFPT length, BFPT_DWORD_MAX. Since BFPT_DWORD_MAX was 16, and so
was the BFPT length for both rev A and B, this check worked fine. But
now, since BFPT_DWORD_MAX is 20, it means this check will also stop BFPT
parsing for rev A or B, since their length is 16.
So, instead check for BFPT_DWORD_MAX_JESD216 to stop BFPT parsing for
the first JESD216 version, and check for BFPT_DWORD_MAX_JESD216B for the
next two versions.

Double Transfer Rate (DTR) is SPI protocol in which data is transferred
on each clock edge as opposed to on each clock cycle. Make
framework-level changes to allow supporting flashes in DTR mode.
Right now, mixed DTR modes are not supported. So, for example a mode
like 4S-4D-4D will not work. All phases need to be either DTR or STR.

Even when spi_nor_write_reg() has no data to write, like when executing
a write enable operation, it sets the data direction to
SPI_MEM_DATA_OUT. This trips up spi_mem_check_buswidth() because it
expects a data phase when there is none. Make sure the data direction is
set to SPI_MEM_NO_DATA when there is no data to write.

The spi-mem layer provides a spi_mem_supports_op() function to check
whether a specific operation is supported by the controller or not.
This is much more accurate than the hwcaps selection logic based on
SPI_{RX,TX}_ flags.
Rework the hwcaps selection logic to use spi_mem_supports_op().
To make sure the build doesn't break for boards not using CONFIG_DM_SPI,
add a simple SPI_{RX,TX}_ based hwcaps selection logic in spi-mem-nodm
similar to spi_mem_default_supports_op(). This change is only
compile-tested.
To avoid SPL size problems on the x530 board, the old hwcaps selection
is still kept around. Leaving the code in-place was getting difficult to
read and understand, so the code is restructured to have it all in one
isolated function. As a result of this, the parameter hwcaps to
spi_nor_setup() is no longer needed. Remove it.

Sometimes the information in a flash's SFDP tables is wrong. Sometimes
some information just can't be expressed in the SFDP table. So,
introduce the fixup hooks to allow tailoring settings for a specific
flash.
Three hooks are added: default_init, post_sfdp, and post_bfpt. These
allow tweaking the flash settings at different point in the probe
sequence. Since the hooks reside in nor->info, set that value just
before the call to spi_nor_init_params().
The hooks and at what points they are executed mimics Linux's spi-nor
framework. One major difference is that Linux puts the struct
spi_nor_fixups in nor->info. This is not possible in U-Boot because the
spi-nor-ids list is shared between spi-nor-core.c and spi-nor-tiny.c.
Since spi-nor-tiny shouldn't have those fixup hooks populated, add a
separate function that lets flashes populate their fixup hooks.

If a flash chip has more than 16MB capacity but its BFPT reports
BFPT_DWORD1_ADDRESS_BYTES_3_OR_4, the spi-nor framework defaults to 3.
The check in spi_nor_scan() doesn't catch it because addr_width did get
set. This fixes that check.

The get_mtd_device_nm() function (code imported from Linux) simply
iterates all registered MTD devices and compares the given name with
all MTDs' names.
With SPI_FLASH_MTD enabled U-Boot registers a SPI-NOR as a MTD device
with name identical to the SPI flash chip name (from SPI ID table). Thus
for a board with multiple same SPI-NORs it registers multiple MTDs, but
all with the same name (such as "s25fl164k"). We do not want to change
this behaviour, since such a change could break existing boot scripts,
which can rely on a hardcoded name.
In order to allow somehow to uniqely select a MTD device, change
get_mtd_device_nm() function as such:
- if first character of name is '/', try interpreting it as OF path
- otherwise compare the name with MTDs name and MTDs device name.
In the following example a board has two "s25fl164k" SPI-NORs. They both
have name "s25fl164k", thus cannot be uniquely selected via this name.
With this change, the user can select the second SPI-NOR either with
"spi-nor@1" or "/soc/spi@10600/spi-nor@1".

Currently when the SPI_FLASH_MTD config option is enabled, only one SPI
can be registered as MTD at any time - it is the last one probed (since
with old non-DM model only one SPI NOR could be probed at any time).
When DM is enabled, allow for registering multiple SPI NORs as MTDs by
utilizing the nor->mtd structure, which is filled in by spi_nor_scan
anyway, instead of filling a separate struct mtd_info.

Add support for parsing partitions defined in device-trees via the
`partitions` node with `fixed-partitions` compatible.
The `mtdparts`/`mtdids` mechanism takes precedence. If some partitions
are defined for a MTD device via this mechanism, the code won't register
partitions for that MTD device from OF, even if they are defined.

When apf27_defconfig is built with LTO, linking complains about

According to S26KL512S datasheet [1] and S29GL01GS datasheet [2],
the procedure to read out PPB lock bits is to send the PPB Entry,
PPB Read, Reset/ASO Exit. Currently, the code does send incorrect
PPB Entry, PPB Read and Reset/ASO Exit is completely missing.
The PPB Entry sent is implemented by sending flash_unlock_seq()
and flash_write_cmd(..., FLASH_CMD_READ_ID). This translates to
sequence 0x555:0xaa, 0x2aa:0x55, 0x555:0x90=FLASH_CMD_READ_ID.
However, both [1] and [2] specify the last byte of PPB Entry as
0xc0=AMD_CMD_SET_PPB_ENTRY instead of 0x90=FLASH_CMD_READ_ID,
that is 0x555:0xaa, 0x2aa:0x55, 0x555:0xc0=AMD_CMD_SET_PPB_ENTRY.
Since this does make sense, this patch fixes it and thus also
aligns the code in flash_get_size() with flash_real_protect().
The PPB Read returns 00h in case of Protected state and 01h in case
of Unprotected state, according to [1] Note 83 and [2] Note 17, so
invert the result. Moreover, align the arguments with similar code
in flash_real_protect().
Finally, Reset/ASO Exit command should be executed to exit the PPB
mode, so add the missing reset.

For all other erase failures, the fail_addr is updated with the
failing address. Only in the case of erase failure due to bad block
detection, the fail_addr is not updated. This change simply updates
the fail_addr for this specific scenario so that it is consistent with
the rest of the code.

Add a weak nand_get_mtd function for nand drivers to provide mtd info
and use this to set pagesize such that reading of non page-aligned
elements can succeed.
The spl_load_simple_fit already handles block block access so all we
need to do is provide the nand writesize as the block length.
Further cleanup of the drivers which use nand_spl_loaders.c such as
am335x_spl_bch.c, atmel_nand.c, and nand_spl_simple.c could be done
using info from mtd_info instead of statically defined details.

We had a problem detecting 8/16bit flash devices connected only via
8bits to the SoC for quite a while. Commit 239cb9d9
[mtd: cfi_flash: Fix CFI flash driver for 8-bit bus support] finally
fixed this 8-bit bus support. But also broke some other boards using
this cfi driver. So this patch had to be reverted.
I spotted a different, simpler approach for this 8-bit bus support

This feature was dropped from U-Boot some time ago:
f12f96cfaf (sf: Drop spl_flash_get_sw_write_prot")
However, we do need a way to see if a flash device is write-protected,
since if it is, it may not be possible to write to do (i.e. failing to
write is expected).
I am not sure of the correct layer to implement this, so this patch is a
stab at it. If spi-flash makes sense then I will add to the 'sf' also.
Re the points mentioned in the removal commit:
1) This kind of requirement can be achieved using existing
flash operations and flash locking API calls instead of
making a separate flash API.
Which uclass is this?
2) Technically there is no real hardware user for this API to
use in the source tree.
I do want coral (at least) to support this.
3) Having a flash operations API for simple register read bits
also make difficult to extend the flash operations.
This new patch only mentions write-protect being on or off, rather than
the actual mechanism.
4) Instead of touching generic code, it is possible to have
this functionality inside spinor operations in the form of
flash hooks or fixups for associated flash chips.
That sounds to me like what drivers are for. But we still need some sort
of API for it to be accessible.

dfu_free_entities() invoking dfu_free_entity_sf() has let to segementation
faults due to double freeing the same device.
spi_flash_free() is not relevant for the driver model but exists only for
compatibility with old drivers.
We must not remove any device here:
* The device may still be referenced.
* We don't want to have to probe again.

The relevant changes to the already existing GD5F1GQ4UExxG support has
been determined by consulting the GigaDevice product change notice
AN-0392-10, version 1.0 from November 30, 2020.
As the overlaps are huge, variable names have been generalized
accordingly.
Apart form the lowered ECC strength (4 instead of 8 bits per 512 bytes),
the new device ID, and the extra quad IO dummy byte, no changes had to
be taken into account.
New hardware features are not supported, namely:
- Power on reset
- Unique ID
- Double transfer rate (DTR)
- Parameter page
- Random data quad IO
The inverted semantic of the "driver strength" register bits, defaulting
to 100% instead of 50% for the Q5 devices, got ignored as the driver has
never touched them anyway.
The no longer supported "read from cache during block erase"
functionality is not reflected as the current SPI NAND core does not
support it anyway.
Implementation has been tested on MediaTek MT7688 based GARDENA smart
Gateways using both, GigaDevice GD5F1GQ5UEYIG and GD5F1GQ4UBYIG.

According to the datasheets, all of these 3 types support BP(0,1,2) and
TB bits in the status register (SR), so it could reuse the flash
protection logic for ST Micro.

flags to the w25q128 entry of spi_nor_ids table.

Provide an explicit configuration option to disable default "unlock all"
of any flash chip which supports locking. It doesn't make sense to
automatically unprotect the entire flash on each u-boot startup if the
block protection bits are actually used.
Traditionally, the unlock was there to be able to write to flash devices
which powered-up with the block protection bits set. Over time this
feature creeped into all flash devices which support locking.

Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In
a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding
another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header
files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few
cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so
remove that include.

We use the U_BOOT_ prefix (i.e. U_BOOT_DRIVER) to declare a driver but
in every other case we just use DM_. Update the alias macros to use the
DM_ prefix.
We could perhaps rename U_BOOT_DRIVER() to DM_DRIVER(), but this macro
is widely used and there is at least some benefit to indicating it us a
U-Boot driver, particularly for code ported from Linux. So for now, let's
keep that name.

The #define of one struct to another has been around for a while. It
confuses dtoc and makes it think that struct spi_flash does not exist.
Make a few changes to improve things while we wait for migration to be
completed:
- Move the 'struct spi_flash' to column 1 so dtoc scans it
- Remove the #define when compiling dt-platdata.c
- Update the strange mtd_get/set_of_node() functions
- Use struct spi_nor in the drivers, so dtoc sees the correct struct

At present various drivers etc. access the device's 'seq' member directly.
This makes it harder to change the meaning of that member. Change access
to go through a function instead.
The drivers/i2c/lpc32xx_i2c.c file is left unchanged for now.

U-Boot is able to erase bad mtd blocks on raw nand devices, but this
is not true for spinand flashes. Lets enable this feature for spinand
flashes as well. This is extemelly useful for flash testing.

Currently when marking a block, we use spinand_erase_op() to erase
the block before writing the marker to the OOB area. Doing so without
waiting for the operation to finish can lead to the marking failing
silently and no bad block marker being written to the flash.
In fact we don't need to do an erase at all before writing the BBM.
The ECC is disabled for raw accesses to the OOB data and we don't
need to work around any issues with chips reporting ECC errors as it
is known to be the case for raw NAND.

When writing the bad block marker to the OOB area the access mode
should be set to MTD_OPS_RAW as it is done for reading the marker.
Currently this only works because req.mode is initialized to
MTD_OPS_PLACE_OOB (0) and spinand_write_to_cache_op() checks for
req.mode != MTD_OPS_AUTO_OOB.
Fix this by explicitly setting req.mode to MTD_OPS_RAW.

For reading and writing the bad block markers, spinand->oobbuf is
currently used as a buffer for the marker bytes. During the
underlying read and write operations to actually get/set the content
of the OOB area, the content of spinand->oobbuf is reused and changed
by accessing it through spinand->oobbuf and/or spinand->databuf.
This is a flaw in the original design of the SPI NAND core and at the
latest from 13c15e07eedf ("mtd: spinand: Handle the case where
PROGRAM LOAD does not reset the cache") on, it results in not having
the bad block marker written at all, as the spinand->oobbuf is
cleared to 0xff after setting the marker bytes to zero.
To fix it, we now just store the two bytes for the marker on the
stack and let the read/write operations copy it from/to the page
buffer later.

This construct is quite long-winded. In earlier days it made some sense
since auto-allocation was a strange concept. But with driver model now
used pretty universally, we can shorten this to 'auto'. This reduces
verbosity and makes it easier to read.
Coincidentally it also ensures that every declaration is on one line,
thus making dtoc's job easier.

Based on Linux kernel commit fc256f5789cb ("mtd: nand: pxa3xx: enable
NAND controller if the SoC needs it"). This commit adds support for the
Armada 8040 nand controller.
The kernel commit says this:
Marvell recent SoCs like A7k/A8k do not boot with NAND flash
controller activated by default. Enabling the controller is a matter
of writing in a system controller register that may also be used for
other NAND related choices.

Use the generic DT code to find the device compatible property for us.

The cfi-flash driver uses an open-coded version of the generic
algorithm to decode and translate multiple frames of a "reg" property.
This starts off the wrong foot by using the address-cells and size-cells
properties of *this* very node, and not of the parent. This somewhat
happened to work back when we were using a wrong default size of 2,
but broke about a year ago with commit 0ba41ce1b7 ("libfdt: return
correct value if #size-cells property is not present").
Instead of fixing the reinvented wheel, just use the generic function
that does all of this properly.
This fixes U-Boot on QEMU (-arm64), which was crashing due to decoding
a wrong flash base address:

When possible use DMA for reading from CFI flash, this provides upto 5x
improvement in read performance with high speed CFI compliant flashes
like HyperFlash.
Code will gracefully fallback to CPU copy when DMA is unavailable.

This member was presumably dropped when this driver was converted from
Linux. However, it is still used in log statements during initialization.
This patch adds the member back. In addition, allocation of struct
vf610_nfc has been moved to the callers of vf610_nfc_nand_init. This allows
it to be allocated by DM (if it is being used) and for dev to be
initialized.

There are too many levels of indirection when calling dev_err. This is an
artifact of the conversion of brcmnand_host.pdev from a struct
platform_device (which has a member `dev` pointing to a struct device) to
struct udevice.

Usually the device is gotten from sunxi_nfc. This is a struct device and
not a struct udevice, but the whole driver seems to be written wihout DM
anyway...
In a few instances, this patch modifies functions to take an nfc to log
with. In once instance we use mtd_info's device since there is no nfc.

Nand writes should skip the bad blocks with "nand write" command.
In case of bad blocks with above 32-bit address, nand_block_isbad()
returns false due to truncated bad block address.
In below code segment,
if (nand_block_isbad(mtd, offset & ~(mtd->erasesize - 1)))
offset is 64-bit and mtd->erasesize is 32-bit, hence the truncation is
happening. Cast 'mtd->erasesize' with loff_t to fix this issue.

FMC2 EBI support has been added. Common resources (registers base
address and clock) can now be shared between the 2 drivers using
"st,stm32mp1-fmc2-nfc" compatible string. It means that the
common resources should now be found in the parent device when EBI
node is available.

FMC2_TIMEOUT_5S will be used each time that we need to wait.
It was seen, during stress tests in an overloaded system,
that we could be close to 1 second, even if we never met this
value. To be safe, FMC2_TIMEOUT_MS is set to 5 seconds.

In the unlikely event that both blocks 10 and 11 are marked as bad (on a
32 bit machine), then the process of marking block 10 as bad stomps on

The -ENODEV error value in spi_nor_read_id() is incorrect since there
clearly is a device - it just cannot be supported. Use -ENOMEDIUM instead
which has the virtue of being less common.
Fix the return value in spi_nor_scan().
Also there are a few printf() statements which should be debug() since
they bloat the code with unused strings at present. Fix those while here.

Add SPINAND_HAS_CR_FEAT_BIT flag to identify the SPI NAND device with
the Continuous Read mode.
Some of the Micron SPI NAND devices have the "Continuous Read" feature
enabled by default, which does not fit the subsystem needs.
In this mode, the READ CACHE command doesn't require the starting column
address. The device always output the data starting from the first
column of the cache register, and once the end of the cache register
reached, the data output continues through the next page. With the
continuous read mode, it is possible to read out the entire block using
a single READ command, and once the end of the block reached, the output
pins become High-Z state. However, during this mode the read command
doesn't output the OOB area.
Hence, we disable the feature at probe time.

The types of "offset" and "size" of "struct mtd_partition" are uint64_t,
while mtd_parse_partitions() uses int to work with these values. When
the offset reaches 2GB, it is interpreted as a negative value, which
leads to error messages like
mtd: partition "<partition name>" is out of reach -- disabled
eg. when using the "ubi part" command.
Fix this by using uint64_t for cur_off and cur_sz.

Fixed delay 200us is not working in certain platforms. Change to
poll for reset completion status to have more reliable reset process.
Controller will set the rst_comp bit in intr_status register after
controller has completed its reset and initialization process.

Always put the controller in reset, then take it out of reset.
This is to make sure controller always in reset state in both SPL and
proper Uboot.
This is preparation for the next patch to poll for reset completion
(rst_comp) bit after reset.

Currently when using OF_PLATDATA the binding between devices and drivers
is done trying to match the compatible string in the node with a driver
name. However, usually a single driver supports multiple compatible strings
which causes that only devices which its compatible string matches a
driver name get bound.
To overcome this issue, this patch adds the U_BOOT_DRIVER_ALIAS macro,
which generates no code at all, but allows an easy way to declare driver
name aliases. Thanks to this, dtoc could be improve to look for the driver
name based on its alias when it populates the U_BOOT_DEVICE entry.

When using OF_PLATDATA, the bind process between devices and drivers
is performed trying to match compatible string with driver names.
However driver names are not strictly defined, and also there are different
names used when declaring a driver with U_BOOT_DRIVER, the name of the
symbol used in the linker list and the used in the struct driver_info.
In order to make things a bit more clear, rename the drivers names. This
will also help for further OF_PLATDATA improvements, such as checking
for valid driver names.

The offset at which the image to be loaded from NAND is located is
retrieved from the itb header. The presence of bad blocks in the area
of the NAND where the itb image is located could invalidate the offset
which must therefore be adjusted taking into account the state of the
sectors concerned.

This change allows more fine tuning of driver model based SPI support in
SPL and TPL. It is now possible to explicitly enable/disable the DM_SPI
support in SPL and TPL via Kconfig option.
Before this change it was necessary to use:

avoided when we strive to switch to Kconfig.
The goal of this patch:
Provide distinction for DM_SPI support in both U-Boot proper and SPL (TPL).
Valid use case is when U-Boot proper wants to use DM_SPI, but SPL must
still support non DM driver.
Another use case is the conversion of non DM/DTS SPI driver to support
DM/DTS. When such driver needs to work in both SPL and U-Boot proper, the
distinction is needed in Kconfig (also if SPL version of the driver
supports OF_PLATDATA).
In the end of the day one would have to support following use cases (in
single driver file - e.g. mxs_spi.c):
- U-Boot proper driver supporting DT/DTS
- U-Boot proper driver without DT/DTS support (deprecated)
- SPL driver without DT/DTS support
- SPL (and TPL) driver with DT/DTS (when the SoC has enough resources to
run full blown DT/DTS)
- SPL driver with DT/DTS and SPL_OF_PLATDATA (when one have constrained
environment with no fitImage and OF_LIBFDT support).
Some boards do require SPI support (with DM) in SPL (TPL) and some only
have DM_SPI{_FLASH} defined to allow compiling SPL.
This patch converts #ifdef CONFIG_DM_SPI* to #if CONFIG_IS_ENABLED(DM_SPI)
and provides corresponding defines in Kconfig.

Currently spi-nor code is assigning _write ops for SST
and other flashes separately.
Just call the sst_write from generic write ops and return
if SST flash found, this way it avoids the confusion of
multiple write ops assignment during the scan and makes
it more feasible for code readability.
No functionality changes.

The get_sw_write_prot API is used to get the write-protected
bits of flash by reading the status register and other wards
it's API for reading register bits.
1) This kind of requirement can be achieved using existing
flash operations and flash locking API calls instead of
making a separate flash API.
2) Technically there is no real hardware user for this API to
use in the source tree.
3) Having a flash operations API for simple register read bits
also make difficult to extend the flash operations.
4) Instead of touching generic code, it is possible to have
this functionality inside spinor operations in the form of
flash hooks or fixups for associated flash chips.
Considering all these points, this patch drops the get_sw_write_prot
and associated code bases.

The suffix was changed from "G" to "J" to classify between 1st generation
and 2nd generation serial NAND devices (which now belong to the Kioxia
brand).
As reference that's
1st generation device of 1Gbit product is "TC58CVG0S3HRAIG"
2nd generation device of 1Gbit product is "TC58CVG0S3HRAIJ".
The 8Gbit type "TH58CxG3S0HRAIJ" is new to Kioxia's serial NAND lineup and
the prefix was changed from "TC58" to "TH58".
Thus the functions were renamed from tc58cxgxsx_*() to tx58cxgxsxraix_*().

If the write protect signal from this IP is connected to the NAND
device, this IP can handle the WP# pin via the WRITE_PROTECT
register.
The Denali NAND Flash Memory Controller User's Guide describes
this register like follows:
When the controller is in reset, the WP# pin is always asserted
to the device. Once the reset is removed, the WP# is de-asserted.
The software will then have to come and program this bit to
assert/de-assert the same.
1 - Write protect de-assert
0 - Write protect assert
The default value is 1, so the write protect is de-asserted after
the reset is removed. The driver can write to the device unless
someone has explicitly cleared register before booting the kernel.
The boot ROM of some UniPhier SoCs (LD4, Pro4, sLD8, Pro5) is the
case; the boot ROM clears the WRITE_PROTECT register when the system
is booting from the NAND device, so the NAND device becomes read-only.
Set it to 1 in the driver in order to allow the write access to the
device.

Move this header out of the common header. Network support is used in
quite a few places but it still does not warrant blanket inclusion.
Note that this net.h header itself has quite a lot in it. It could be
split into the driver-mode support, functions, structures, checksumming,
etc.

It is bad practice to include common.h in other header files since it can
bring in any number of superfluous definitions. It implies that some C
files don't include it and thus may be missing CONFIG options that are set
up by that file. The C files should include these themselves.
Update some header files in arch/arm to drop this.

On i.mx7ulp EVK board, we use MX25R6435F NOR flash, add its parameters

1, then set GPMI_ECCCOUNT[RANDOMIZER_PAGE] to select randomizer page
number needed to be randomized.

When enabled randomizer during ECC reading, the controller reported it's
erased page. Checking zero count will cause data get modified to all
0xFF. Stop checking during randomizer to workaround this issue.

bitflip number for erased NAND page. So for these two platform, set the
erase threshold to gf/2 and if bitflip detected, GPMI driver will

This patch does a check for the uncorrectable failure in the following steps:
[0] set the threshold.
The threshold is set based on the truth:
"A single 0 bit will lead to gf_len(13 or 14) bits 0 after the BCH
do the ECC."
For the sake of safe, we will set the threshold with half the gf_len, and
do not make it bigger the ECC strength.
[1] count the bitflips of the current ECC chunk, assume it is N.
[2] if the (N <= threshold) is true, we continue to read out the page with
ECC disabled. and we count the bitflips again, assume it is N2.
(We read out the whole page, not just a chunk, this makes the check
more strictly, and make the code more simple.)
[3] if the (N2 <= threshold) is true again, we can regard this is a erased
page. This is because a real erased page is full of 0xFF(maybe also has
several bitflips), while a page contains the 0xFF data will definitely
has many bitflips in the ECC parity areas.
[4] if the [3] fails, we can regard this is a page filled with the '0xFF'
data.

Provide an option in DT to use legacy bch geometry, which compatible
with the 3.10 kernel bch setting. To enable the feature, adding
"fsl,legacy-bch-geometry" under gpmi-nand node.

The code change updated the NAND driver BCH ECC layout algorithm to
support large oob size NAND chips(oob > 1024 bytes) and proposed a new
way to set ECC layout.
Current implementation requires each chunk size larger than oob size so
the bad block marker (BBM) can be guaranteed located in data chunk. The
ECC layout always using the unbalanced layout(Ecc for both meta and
Data0 chunk), but for the NAND chips with oob larger than 1k, the driver
cannot support because BCH doesn’t support GF 15 for 2K chunk.
The change keeps the data chunk no larger than 1k and adjust the ECC
strength or ECC layout to locate the BBM in data chunk. General idea for
large oob NAND chips is
1.Try all ECC strength from the minimum value required by NAND spec to
the maximum one that works, any ECC makes the BBM locate in data chunk
can be chosen.
2.If none of them works, using separate ECC for meta, which will add one
extra ecc with the same ECC strength as other data chunks. This extra
ECC can guarantee BBM located in data chunk, of course, we need to check
if oob can afford it.
Previous code has two methods for ECC layout setting, the
legacy_calc_ecc_layout and calc_ecc_layout_by_info, the difference
between these two methods is, legacy_calc_ecc_layout set the chunk size
larger chan oob size and then set the maximum ECC strength that oob can
afford. While the calc_ecc_layout_by_info set chunk size and ECC
strength according to NAND spec. It has been proved that the first
method cannot provide safe ECC strength for some modern NAND chips, so
in current code,
1. Driver read NAND parameters first and then chose the proper ECC
layout setting method.
2. If the oob is large or NAND required data chunk larger than oob size,
chose calc_ecc_for_large_oob, otherwise use calc_ecc_layout_by_info
3. legacy_calc_ecc_layout only used for some NAND chips does not contains
necessary information. So this is only a backup plan, it is NOT
recommended to use these NAND chips.

The end_cmd field in the variables cmd_phase_addr and data_phase_addr
contains the value 0xFF when the end_cmd equals NAND_CMD_NONE. This
should be 0x00.
This is caused by comparing NAND_CMD_NONE (int) with end_cmd (u8).
end_cmd will be promoted by the int value -1 and therefore is not equal
to 0xFF. Solved by casting NAND_CMD_NONE to u8 which will avoid int
promotion.

Commit 6293b0361d ("mtd: nand: pxa3xx: add raw read support") added the
local data_len variable in handle_data_pio() to track read size, but
forgot to update the condition of drain_fifo() call. That happens to
work when the layout last_chunk_size != 0. But when last_chunk_size ==
0, drain_fifo() is not called to read the last chunk, which leads to
"Wait timeout!!!" error. Fix this.

Fixed wrong enumeration of nand_config structure. Added chip select
function before reading the nand chip for maf/dev id's, without this
unable to access id's from some of the micron chips. Also added a
print statement to identify if a nand flash is using on-die ecc.

The implementation of dma_map_single() and dma_unmap_single() is
exactly the same for all the architectures that support them.
Factor them out to <linux/dma-mapping.h>, and make all drivers to
include <linux/dma-mapping.h> instead of <asm/dma-mapping.h>.
If we need to differentiate them for some architectures, we can
move the generic definitions to <asm-generic/dma-mapping.h>.
Add some comments to the helpers. The concept is quite similar to
the DMA-API of Linux kernel. Drivers are agnostic about what is
going on behind the scene. Just call dma_map_single() before the
DMA, and dma_unmap_single() after it.

At present dm/device.h includes the linux-compatible features. This
requires including linux/compat.h which in turn includes a lot of headers.
One of these is malloc.h which we thus end up including in every file in
U-Boot. Apart from the inefficiency of this, it is problematic for sandbox
which needs to use the system malloc() in some files.
Move the compatibility features into a separate header file.

At present devres.h is included in all files that include dm.h but few
make use of it. Also this pulls in linux/compat which adds several more
headers. Drop the automatic inclusion and require files to include devres

UCLASS_MTD is a better fit for NAND drivers.
Make NAND_DENALI_DT depend on DM_MTD, which is needed to compile
drivers/mtd/mtd-uclass.c
Also, make ARCH_UNIPHIER select DM_MTD because all the defconfig
of this platform enables NAND_DENALI_DT.

Currently, the denali NAND driver in U-Boot configures the
SPARE_AREA_SKIP_BYTES based on the CONFIG option.
Recently, Linux kernel merged a patch that associates the proper
value for this register with the DT compatible string.
Do likewise in U-Boot too.
The denali_spl.c still uses CONFIG_NAND_DENALI_SPARE_AREA_SKIP_BYTES.

When the reset signal is de-asserted, the HW-controlled bootstrap
starts running unless it is disabled in the SoC integration.
It issues some commands to detect a NAND chip, and sets up registers
automatically. Until this process finishes, software should avoid
any register access.
Without this delay function, some of UniPhier boards hangs up while
executing nand_scan_ident(). (denali_read_byte() is blocked)

The Denali NAND driver in mainline Linux currently cannot deassert the
reset. The upcoming Linux 5.6 will support the reset controlling, and
also set up SPARE_AREA_SKIP_BYTES correctly. So, the Denali driver in
the future kernel will work without relying on any bootloader or firmware.
However, we still need to take care of stable kernel versions for a while.
U-boot should not assert the reset of this controller.

On Altera SoCFPGA, upon either cold-boot or power-on reset, the
Denali NAND IP is initialized by the BootROM ; upon warm-reset,
the Denali NAND IP is NOT initialized by BootROM. In fact, upon
warm-reset, the SoCFPGA BootROM checks whether the SPL image in
on-chip RAM is valid and if so, completely skips re-loading the
SPL from the boot media.
This does sometimes lead to problems where the software left
the boot media in inconsistent state before warm-reset, and
because the BootROM does not reset the boot media, the boot
media is left in this inconsistent state, often until another
component attempts to access the boot media and fails with an
difficult to debug failure. To mitigate this problem, the SPL
on Altera SoCFPGA always resets all the IPs on the SoC early
on boot.
This results in a couple of register values, pre-programmed by
the BootROM, to be lost during this reset. To restore correct
operation of the IP on SoCFPGA, these values must be programmed
back into the controller by the driver. Note that on other SoCs
which do not use the HW-controlled bootstrap, more registers
may have to be programmed.
This also aligns the SPL behavior with the full Denali NAND
driver, which sets these values in denali_hw_init().

JESD216 allow vendors to define their own SFDP tables.
Add SST SFDP parser. The vendor table is allocated using resource-managed
kmalloc - the table will be freed on driver detach. It will be accessible
by getting the UCLASS_SPI_FLASH's private data.
The SST's SFDP table is particularly of interest because contains
pre-programmed globally unique EUI-48 and EUI-64 identifiers.

With of-platdata we need to create drivers for particular chips, or at
least drivers that are separate from the standard code, since C structures
are created by dtoc which are private to that driver.
To avoid duplicating the probing code, export this probe function for use
by these drivers.

Move MTD-related lines out of the root Makefile. Put them in their
respective directories. Enclose some of these new lines to skip them
when building the SPL. MTD core files and some MTD device drivers are
compiled in a mtd.o object and included in the final object only if
MTD support is required (there are two different symbols for that, one
for U-Boot and one for the SPL).
Now that all defconfigs have been fixed, we can stop the logic where
enabling a command selects the core files to compile. This logic is
broken since selecting a symbol with a 'depends on' will not enforce
this secondary dependency.

The 'sf' command is not supposed to rely on the MTD stack, but both
'sf' and 'nand' commands use helpers located in mtd_uboot.c. Despite
their location, these functions do not depend at all on the MTD
stack.
This file (drivers/mtd/mtd_uboot.c) is only compiled if CONFIG_MTD is
selected, which is inconsistent with the current situation. Solve this
by moving these three functions (which are only used by the above two
commands) out of mtd_uboot.c and put them in a C file only compiled
with cmd/sf.c and cmd/nand.c.

It is already the case that all defconfigs with SPI_FLASH_MTD also
declare using MTD, but let's make this consistent and enforce it in
Kconfig. Most of the time SPI_FLASH_MTD is used in conjunction with
UBI, which already depends on MTD.

Because of the include's game, when some files are compiled for a SPI
NAND device, no warning appears. But when it is for a raw NAND device,

These functions do not use driver model but are fairly widely used in
U-Boot. But it is not clear that they will use driver model anytime soon,
so we don't want to label them as 'legacy'.
Move them to a new irq_func.h header file. Avoid the name 'irq.h' since it
is widely used in U-Boot already.

On i.MX7 in a sake of reducing the disturbances caused by a neighboring
cells in the FCB page in the NAND chip, a randomizer is enabled when
reading the FCB page by ROM bootloader.
Add API for setting BCH to specific layout (and restoring it back) used by
ROM bootloader to be able to burn it in a proper way to NAND using
nandbcb command.

The current brcmnand driver is based on 4.18 linux kernel which uses
mtd_set_ooblayout to set ecc layout. But nand base code in u-boot is from
old kernel which does not use this new API and expect nand_chip.ecc.layout
structure to be set. This cause nand_scan_tail function running into a bug
check if the device has a different oob size than the default ones.
This patch ports the brcmstb_choose_ecc_layout function from kernel 4.6.7
that supports the ecc layout struture and replaces the mtd_set_ooblayout
method

Most boards currently use SPI_FLASH_MTD only in U-Boot proper, not in
SPL. They often rely on hacks in the board header files to include
this option conditionally. To be able to fix this, we previously
introduced a separate option SPL_SPI_FLASH_MTD.
Therefore we can now adjust the Makefile and change the code in
sf_probe.c and sf_internal.h to use CONFIG_IS_ENABLED(SPI_FLASH_MTD).
We also need to move all occurences of CONFIG_SPI_FLASH_MTD from the
header files to the according defconfigs. The affected boards are
socfpga, aristainetos, cm_fx6, display5, ventana, rcar-gen2, dh_imx6
and da850evm.
We do this all in one patch to guarantee bisectibility.
This change was tested with buildman to make sure it does not
introduce any regressions by comparing the resulting binary sizes.

register that indicates various errors that may be encountered during

mt25q* flashes support stateless 4 byte addressing opcodes. Add entries

DM_SPI_FLASH should require spi flash interface code for dm
version, so imply SPI_FLASH core by default if any board
enabled DM_SPI_FLASH.
This overcome the explicit enablement of CONFIG_SPI_FLASH on
respective boards when DM_SPI_FLASH being used.

1) CONFIG_SPI_FLASH is not just a legacy code, but it has common
core code which handle both dm and non-dm spi flash code. So
fix the info text to make it clear globally.
2) Since it's flash core it shouldn't depends on legacy SPI,

AM654/J721e has HyperBus Memory Controller that supports HyperFlash and
HyperRAM devices. It provides a memory mapped interface to interact with
these devices. Add a driver to support the same.
Driver calibrates the controller, setups up for MMIO access and probes
HyperFlash child node.

Add devm_clk_get(), devm_clk_get_optional() to get clocks from the
device-tree. The clocks is automatically released and the data structure
freed when the device is unbound.
Also add devm_clk_put() to release the clock and free the data structure
manually.

Some users of static UBI volumes implement their own integrity check,
thus making the volume CRC check done at open time useless. For
instance, this is the case when one use the ubiblock + dm-verity +
squashfs combination, where dm-verity already checks integrity of the
block device but this time at the block granularity instead of verifying
the whole volume.
Skipping this test drastically improves the boot-time.

At present there is only one control for this and it is used for both SPL
and TPL. But SPL might have a lot more space than TPL so the extra cost of
a full printf() might be acceptable.
Split the option into two, providing separate SPL and TPL controls. The
TPL setting defaults to the same as SPL.

Convert CONFIG_SYS_NAND_USE_FLASH_BBT to Kconfig, update defconfigs,
headers and whitelist.
Please note that this symbol already was used in Kconfig
(imply in CONFIG_NAND_ATMEL) which did not work, since this symbol was
not available in Kconfig. This changes now with this patch and all
boards with CONFIG_NAND_ATMEL will have BBT enabled. Which is what
I also need on my GARDENA AT91SAM based board.

Extend the davinci NAND driver to support the driver model. For now this
doesn't add any device-tree parsing due to the fact that we can't access
the actual nand node on the device-tree - it's a subnode of the aemif
device and we don't have an aemif driver on davinci at the moment.

Writing/updating boot image in nand device is not
straight forward in i.MX6 platform and it requires
boot control block(BCB) to be configured.
It becomes difficult to use uboot 'nand' command to
write BCB since it requires platform specific attributes
need to be taken care of.
It is even difficult to use existing msx-nand.c driver by
incorporating BCB attributes like mxs_dma_desc does
because it requires change in mtd and nand command.
So, cmd_nandbcb implemented in arch/arm/mach-imx
BCB contains two data structures, Firmware Configuration Block(FCB)
and Discovered Bad Block Table(DBBT). FCB has nand timings,
DBBT search area, page address of firmware.
On summary, nandbcb update will
- erase the entire partition
- create BCB by creating 2 FCB/DBBT block followed by
1 FW block based on partition size and erasesize.
- fill FCB/DBBT structures
- write FW/SPL on FW1
- write FCB/DBBT in first 2 blocks
for nand boot, up on reset bootrom look for FCB structure in
first block's if FCB found the nand timings are loaded for
further reads. once FCB read done, DTTB will load and finally
firmware will be loaded which is boot image.
Refer section "NAND Boot" from doc/imx/common/imx6.txt for more usage
information.

mt25qu512a is rebranded after its spinoff from STM, so it is
different only in term of extended jedec ID, initial JEDEC id
is same as that of n25q512a.In order to avoid any confussion
with respect to name new entry is added.
This flash is tested for Single I/O mode on LS1046FRWY although
it also support QUAD I/O.

The motivation is to use the UBI atomic volume rename functionality to
allow double copy software updates on UBI. To that end the SPL is
configured to always load the same volume name (e.g. "u-boot"),
whereas a software updater always installs into the secondary volume
"u-boot_r". After successful installation, these two volume names are
switched.
This extension is protected by #ifdefs as it will somewhat slow down
loading of volumes by id. This is because the code needs to disable
the optimization of ignoring all volume ids which are not
to-be-loaded, since these can only be resolved after attaching.
This adds two vtbl related functions from Linux, which are taken from
the same kernel version as the current main U-Boot UBI code (Linux 4.2
64291f7db5bd8).

When ENV_IS_IN_UBI is enable, get_mtdparts is called before relocation.
During first get_mtdparts() call, mtdparts is not available in environment,
it can be retrieved by calling board_mtdparts_default(), but following
env_set() do nothing as we are before relocation. Finally mtdparts is
still not available in environment.
At second get_mtdparts() call, use_defaults is false, but mtdparts is still
not in environment and is NULL.

Migrate the BR/OR settings to Kconfig. These must be known at compile
time, so cannot be configured via DT.
Configuration of this crucial variable should still be somewhat
comfortable. Hence, make its fields configurable in Kconfig, and
assemble the final value from these.

While converting CONFIG_SYS_[DI]CACHE_OFF to Kconfig, there are instances
where these configuration items are conditional on SPL. This commit adds SPL
variants of these configuration items, uses CONFIG_IS_ENABLED(), and updates
the configurations as required.

Some SPI controllers can't write nor->page_size bytes in a single step
because their TX FIFO is too small, but when that happens we should
make sure a WRITE_EN command before each write access and READ_SR command
after each write access is issued.
We should allow nor->write() to return a size that is smaller than the
requested write size to gracefully handle this case.
Also, the spi_nor_write_data() should return the actual number of bytes
that were written during the spi_mem_exec_op() operation.

The purpose of "mtd: nand: raw: allow to disable unneeded ECC layouts"
was to allow disabling the default ECC layouts if a driver is known to
provide its own ECC layout. However, this commit did the opposite and
disabled the default layout when it was _not_ selected.
It breaks all the NAND drivers not providing their own ECC layout this
patch fix this situation.
It was tested with the lpc32xx_nand_slc driver.

Linux commit 97d90da8a88 ("mtd: nand: provide several helpers
to do common NAND operations")
This is part of the process of removing direct calls to ->cmdfunc()
outside of the core in order to introduce a better interface to execute
NAND operations.
Here we provide several helpers and make use of them to remove all
direct calls to ->cmdfunc(). This way, we can easily modify those
helpers to make use of the new ->exec_op() interface when available.

The driver adds the support for the STMicroelectronics FMC2 NAND
Controller found on STM32MP SOCs.
This patch adds the polling mode, a basic mode that do not need
any DMA channels.
Only NAND_ECC_HW mode is actually supported.
The driver supports a maximum 8k page size.
The following ECC strength and step size are currently supported:
- nand-ecc-strength = <8>, nand-ecc-step-size = <512> (BCH8)
- nand-ecc-strength = <4>, nand-ecc-step-size = <512> (BCH4)
- nand-ecc-strength = <1>, nand-ecc-step-size = <512> (Extended ECC
based on Hamming)
This patch has been tested on Micron MT29F8G08ABACAH4.

This patch update the behavior introduced by
commit 96907c0fe5 ("dm: spi: Read default speed and mode values from DT")
In case of DT boot, don't read default speed and mode for SPI from
CONFIG_* but instead read from DT node. This will make sure that boards
with multiple SPI/QSPI controllers can be probed at different
bus frequencies and SPI modes.
Remove also use in boards of the value speed=0 (no more supported)
for ENV in SPI by using CONFIG_ENV_SPI_MAX_HZ=0.
DT values will be always used when available (full DM support of
SPI slave with available DT node) even if speed and mode are requested;
for example in splash screen support (in splash_sf_read_raw)
or in SPL boot (in spl_spi_load_image).
The caller of spi_get_bus_and_cs() no more need to force speed=0.
But the current behavior don't change if the SPI slave is not
present (device with generic driver is created automatically)
or if platdata is used (CONFIG_OF_PLATDATA).

Replace the ad-hoc erase operation implementation with a simple spi_mem_op
implementation of the same functionality. This is a minor optimization and
removal of the ad-hoc code.
This however also changes the behavior of the execution of the erase
opcode from two separate transfer requests to the SPI NOR driver to
one transfer request to the SPI NOR driver. The former was how U-Boot
behaved before the SPI NOR framework was imported and the later was
introduced by the SPI NOR framework. The former is more optimal, so
keep that.

A Coverity robot reported an integer handling issue
(OVERFLOW_BEFORE_WIDEN) in the potentially overflowing expression:
(mtd_div_by_ws(mtd->size, mtd) - mtd_div_by_ws(offs, mtd)) *
mtd_oobavail(mtd, ops)
While such overflow will certainly never happen due to the numbers
handled, it is cleaner to fix this operation anyway.
The problem is that all the maths include 32-bit quantities, while the
result is stored in an explicit 64-bit value.
As maxooblen will just be compared with a size_t, let's change the
type of the variable to a size_t. This will not fix anything but will
clarify a bit the situation. Then, do an explicit cast to fix Coverity
warning.

This patch sync's the U-Boot SPI NAND GigaDevice GD5F1GQ4UExxG support
with the latest Linux version (v5.0-rc3) plus the chip supported posted
on the MTD list. Only the currently in U-Boot available chip is
supported with this sync.
The changes for the GD5F1GQ4UExxG are:
- Name of NAND device changed to better reflect the real part
- OOB layout changed to only reserve 1 byte for BBT
- Use ECC caps 8bits/512bytes instead of 8bits/2048bytes
- Enhanced ecc_get_status() function to determine and report
a more fine grained bit error status

Currently the spl system calls nand_init which does nothing.
It isn't until an attempt to load from NAND that it gets initialized.
Subsequent attempts to load just skip the initialization because
NAND is already initialized.
This moves the contents of mxs_nand_init to nand_init. In the event
of an error, it clears the number of nand chips found. Any
attempts to use nand will check if there are nand chips available
instead of actually doing the initialization at that time. If there
are none, it will return an error to the higher level calls.
