Use en-us locale for typos (#16037)
# Objective

Bevy seems to want to standardize on "American English" spellings. Not
sure if this is laid out anywhere in writing, but see also #15947.

While perusing the docs for `typos`, I noticed that it has a `locale`
config option and tried it out.

## Solution

Switch to `en-us` locale in the `typos` config and run `typos -w`

## Migration Guide

The following methods or fields have been renamed from `*dependants*` to
`*dependents*`.

- `ProcessorAssetInfo::dependants`
- `ProcessorAssetInfos::add_dependant`
- `ProcessorAssetInfos::non_existent_dependants`
- `AssetInfo::dependants_waiting_on_load`
- `AssetInfo::dependants_waiting_on_recursive_dep_load`

Add no_std support to bevy_mikktspace (#15528)
# Objective

- Contributes to #15460
- Allows `bevy_mikktspace` to be used in `no_std` contexts.

## Solution

- Added `std` (default) and `libm` features which control the inclusion
of the standard library. To use `bevy_mikktspace` in `no_std`
environments, enable the `libm` feature.

## Testing

- CI
- `cargo clippy -p bevy_mikktspace --target "x86_64-unknown-none"
--no-default-features --features libm`

Add core and alloc over std Lints (#15281)
# Objective

- Fixes #6370
- Closes #6581

## Solution

- Added the following lints to the workspace:
  - `std_instead_of_core`
  - `std_instead_of_alloc`
  - `alloc_instead_of_core`
- Used `cargo +nightly fmt` with [item level use
formatting](https://rust-lang.github.io/rustfmt/?version=v1.6.0&search=#Item%5C%3A)
to split all `use` statements into single items.
- Used `cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --all-features --fix
--allow-dirty` to _attempt_ to resolve the new linting issues, and
intervened where the lint was unable to resolve the issue automatically
(usually due to needing an `extern crate alloc;` statement in a crate
root).
- Manually removed certain uses of `std` where negative feature gating
prevented `--all-features` from finding the offending uses.
- Used `cargo +nightly fmt` with [crate level use
formatting](https://rust-lang.github.io/rustfmt/?version=v1.6.0&search=#Crate%5C%3A)
to re-merge all `use` statements matching Bevy's previous styling.
- Manually fixed cases where the `fmt` tool could not re-merge `use`
statements due to conditional compilation attributes.

## Testing

- Ran CI locally

## Migration Guide

The MSRV is now 1.81. Please update to this version or higher.

## Notes

- This is a _massive_ change to try and push through, which is why I've
outlined the semi-automatic steps I used to create this PR, in case this
fails and someone else tries again in the future.
- Making this change has no impact on user code, but does mean Bevy
contributors will be warned to use `core` and `alloc` instead of `std`
where possible.
- This lint is a critical first step towards investigating `no_std`
options for Bevy.

Allow to expect (adopted) (#15301)
# Objective

> Rust 1.81 released the #[expect(...)] attribute, which works like
#[allow(...)] but throws a warning if the lint isn't raised. This is
preferred to #[allow(...)] because it tells us when it can be removed.

- Adopts the parts of #15118 that are complete, and updates the branch
so it can be merged.
- There were a few conflicts, let me know if I misjudged any of 'em.

Alice's
[recommendation](https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/issues/15059#issuecomment-2349263900)

Fix underflow panic in InitTriInfo (#14893)

- Fix #14874

## Solution

- Change the place where a panic occurs from `t < iNrTrianglesIn - 1` to
`t + 1 < iNrTrianglesIn`.

## Testing

- After the fix, the following code runs successfully without any panic.

Generate links to definition in source code pages on docs.rs and dev-docs.bevyengine.org (#12965)
# Objective

- Fix issue #2611

## Solution

- Add `--generate-link-to-definition` to all the `rustdoc-args` arrays
in the `Cargo.toml`s (for docs.rs)
- Add `--generate-link-to-definition` to the `RUSTDOCFLAGS` environment
variable in the docs workflow (for dev-docs.bevyengine.org)
- Document all the workspace crates in the docs workflow (needed because
otherwise only the source code of the `bevy` package will be included,
making the argument useless)
- I think this also fixes #3662, since it fixes the bug on
dev-docs.bevyengine.org, while on docs.rs it has been fixed for a while
on their side.

## Changelog

- The source code viewer on docs.rs now includes links to the
definitions.

Determine msrv for every standalone bevy_* crate. (#13211)
# Objective

As was pointed out in #13183, `bevy_mikktspace` is missing it's msrv
from it `Cargo.toml`. This promted me to check the msrv of every
`bevy_*` crate. Closes #13183.

## Solution

- Call `cargo check` with different rust versions on every bevy crate
until it doesn't complain.
- Write down the rust version `cargo check` started working.

## Testing

- Install `cargo-msrv`.
- Run `cargo msrv verify`.
- Rejoice.

## Changelog

Every published bevy crate now specifies a MSRV. If your rust toolchain
isn't at least version `1.77.0` You'll likely not be able to compile
most of bevy.

## Solution

- Updated `glam` version requirement from 0.25 to 0.27.
- Updated `encase` and `encase_derive_impl` version requirement from 0.7
to 0.8.
- Updated `hexasphere` version requirement from 10.0 to 12.0.
- Breaking changes from glam changelog:
- [0.26.0] Minimum Supported Rust Version bumped to 1.68.2 for impl
From<bool> for {f32,f64} support.
- [0.27.0] Changed implementation of vector fract method to match the
Rust implementation instead of the GLSL implementation, that is self -
self.trunc() instead of self - self.floor().

## Migration Guide

- When using `glam` exports, keep in mind that `vector` `fract()` method
now matches Rust implementation (that is `self - self.trunc()` instead
of `self - self.floor()`). If you want to use the GLSL implementation
you should now use `fract_gl()`.

Enable clippy::ref_as_ptr (#12918)

prevents you from directly casting references to pointers, requiring you
to use `std::ptr::from_ref` instead. This prevents you from accidentally
converting an immutable reference into a mutable pointer (`&x as *mut
T`).
- Follow up to #11818, now that our [`rust-version` is
1.77](11817f4ba4/Cargo.toml (L14)).

## Solution

- Enable lint and fix all warnings.

Forbid unsafe in most crates in the engine (#12684)
# Objective
Resolves #3824. `unsafe` code should be the exception, not the norm in
Rust. It's obviously needed for various use cases as it's interfacing
with platforms and essentially running the borrow checker at runtime in
the ECS, but the touted benefits of Bevy is that we are able to heavily
leverage Rust's safety, and we should be holding ourselves accountable
to that by minimizing our unsafe footprint.

## Solution
Deny `unsafe_code` workspace wide. Add explicit exceptions for the
following crates, and forbid it in almost all of the others.

* bevy_ecs - Obvious given how much unsafe is needed to achieve
performant results
* bevy_ptr - Works with raw pointers, even more low level than bevy_ecs.
 * bevy_render - due to needing to integrate with wgpu
 * bevy_window - due to needing to integrate with raw_window_handle
* bevy_utils - Several unsafe utilities used by bevy_ecs. Ideally moved
into bevy_ecs instead of made publicly usable.
 * bevy_reflect - Required for the unsafe type casting it's doing.
 * bevy_transform - for the parallel transform propagation
 * bevy_gizmos  - For the SystemParam impls it has.
* bevy_assets - To support reflection. Might not be required, not 100%
sure yet.
* bevy_mikktspace - due to being a conversion from a C library. Pending
safe rewrite.
* bevy_dynamic_plugin - Inherently unsafe due to the dynamic loading
nature.

Several uses of unsafe were rewritten, as they did not need to be using
them:

* bevy_text - a case of `Option::unchecked` could be rewritten as a
normal for loop and match instead of an iterator.
* bevy_color - the Pod/Zeroable implementations were replaceable with
bytemuck's derive macros.

Set the logo and favicon for all of Bevy's published crates (#12696)
# Objective
Currently the built docs only shows the logo and favicon for the top
level `bevy` crate. This makes views like
https://docs.rs/bevy_ecs/latest/bevy_ecs/ look potentially unrelated to
the project at first glance.

## Solution
Reproduce the docs attributes for every crate that Bevy publishes.

Ideally this would be done with some workspace level Cargo.toml control,
but AFAICT, such support does not exist.

Make feature(doc_auto_cfg) work (#12642)

- In #12366 `![cfg_attr(docsrs, feature(doc_auto_cfg))] `was added. But
to apply it it needs `--cfg=docsrs` in rustdoc-args.


## Solution

- Apply `--cfg=docsrs` to all crates and CI.

I also added `[package.metadata.docs.rs]` to all crates to avoid adding
code behind a feature and forget adding the metadata.

Replace pointer castings (as) by their API equivalent (#11818)

Since rust `1.76`,
[`ptr::from_ref`](https://doc.rust-lang.org/stable/std/ptr/fn.from_ref.html)
and
[`ptr::from_mut`](https://doc.rust-lang.org/stable/std/ptr/fn.from_mut.html)
are stable.

This PR replaces code that use `as` casting by one of `ptr::from_ref`,
`ptr::from_mut`, `cast_mut`, `cast_const`, or `cast` methods, which are
less error-prone.

## Solution

- Bump MSRV to `1.76.0`
- Enables the following clippy lints:

Inverse missing_docs logic (#11676)

Currently the `missing_docs` lint is allowed-by-default and enabled at
crate level when their documentations is complete (see #3492).
This PR proposes to inverse this logic by making `missing_docs`
warn-by-default and mark crates with imcomplete docs allowed.

## Solution

Makes `missing_docs` warn at workspace level and allowed at crate level
when the docs is imcomplete.

Enable clippy::undocumented_unsafe_blocks warning across the workspace (#10646)
# Objective

Enables warning on `clippy::undocumented_unsafe_blocks` across the
workspace rather than only in `bevy_ecs`, `bevy_transform` and
`bevy_utils`. This adds a little awkwardness in a few areas of code that
have trivial safety or explain safety for multiple unsafe blocks with
one comment however automatically prevents these comments from being
missed.

## Solution

This adds `undocumented_unsafe_blocks = "warn"` to the workspace
`Cargo.toml` and fixes / adds a few missed safety comments. I also added
`#[allow(clippy::undocumented_unsafe_blocks)]` where the safety is
explained somewhere above.

There are a couple of safety comments I added I'm not 100% sure about in
`bevy_animation` and `bevy_render/src/view` and I'm not sure about the
use of `#[allow(clippy::undocumented_unsafe_blocks)]` compared to adding
comments like `// SAFETY: See above`.

## Solution

- Add [taplo](https://taplo.tamasfe.dev/) to CI (check for fmt and diff
for toml files), for context taplo is used by the most popular extension
in VScode [Even Better
TOML](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=tamasfe.even-better-toml
- Add contribution section to explain toml fmt with taplo.
 
Now to pass CI you need to run `taplo fmt --option indent_string=" "` or
if you use vscode have the `Even Better TOML` extension with 4 spaces
for indent

Use clippy::doc_markdown more. (#10286)

- Remove special cases where `clippy::doc_markdown` lint is disabled.

## Solution

- Add default values back into `clippy.toml` by adding `".."` to the

Suppress the clippy::type_complexity lint (#8313)
# Objective

The clippy lint `type_complexity` is known not to play well with bevy.
It frequently triggers when writing complex queries, and taking the
lint's advice of using a type alias almost always just obfuscates the
code with no benefit. Because of this, this lint is currently ignored in
CI, but unfortunately it still shows up when viewing bevy code in an
IDE.

As someone who's made a fair amount of pull requests to this repo, I
will say that this issue has been a consistent thorn in my side. Since
bevy code is filled with spurious, ignorable warnings, it can be very
difficult to spot the *real* warnings that must be fixed -- most of the
time I just ignore all warnings, only to later find out that one of them
was real after I'm done when CI runs.

## Solution

Suppress this lint in all bevy crates. This was previously attempted in
#7050, but the review process ended up making it more complicated than
it needs to be and landed on a subpar solution.

The discussion in https://github.com/rust-lang/rust-clippy/pull/10571
explores some better long-term solutions to this problem. Since there is
no timeline on when these solutions may land, we should resolve this
issue in the meantime by locally suppressing these lints.

### Unresolved issues

Currently, these lints are not suppressed in our examples, since that
would require suppressing the lint in every single source file. They are
still ignored in CI.

33f9b3940d Updated glam to 0.21. (#5142)
Removed `const_vec2`/`const_vec3`
and replaced with equivalent `.from_array`.

## Solution

- `encase` needs to update to `glam` as well. See teoxoy/encase#4 on progress on that. 
- `hexasphere` also needs to be updated, see OptimisticPeach/hexasphere#12.
