ccea96f443 treewide: unify the linker symbol reference format
Now all linker symbols are declared as type char[]. Though we can
reference the address via both the array name 'var' and its address
'&var'. It's better to unify them to avoid confusing developers.
This patch converts all '&var' linker symbol refrences to the most
commonly used format 'var'.

191f683ee2 arm: mxs: Prevent serial console init when in very early SPL boot code

79230640cb arm: mxs: Provide Kconfig option to not enable 4P2 regulator in IMX28 PMU
The IMX28 PMU (Power Management Unit) has a dedicated Linear Regulator
to produce (by default) 4.2V output - available outside the chip as
VDD_4P2.

When system is supposed to not use VDD5V as a main power source - instead
the DCDC_BATT is used; it is safe to disable this regulator.

As the in-PMU DCDC switching regulator (from which DCDC_VDDA, DCDC_VDDIO
and DCDC_VDDD are generated) can be driven from DCDC_BATT or output
of this 4P2 regulator - by disabling the latter the use of the DCDC_BATT
is forced.

To be more specific - according to NXP's AN4199 the DCDC_BATT source is
preferred (over VDD5V), as more efficient and stable source for
industrial applications.

block. This may be required when DCDC_BAT source is powered not from
battery, but from already regulated, good quality source.

1c3c601ac5 arm: mxs: Provide Kconfig option to to not use VDD5V as IMX28 PMU source
This option sets the current limit for 5V source to zero, so all
the PMU outputs are primarily powered from battery source (DCDC_BAT).

This option may be set on systems, where the 5V is NOT supposed to be
in any scenario powering the system - for example on systems where
DCDC_BAT is connected to fixed and regulated 4.2V source (so the
"battery" is not present).

eaf6ea6a1d Migrate CUSTOM_SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR to Kconfig using system-constants.h
- Make all users of CUSTOM_SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR reference SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR
- Introduce HAS_CUSTOM_SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR to allow for setting the stack
  pointer directly, otherwise we use the common calculation.
- On some platforms that were using the standard calculation but did not
  set CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_SIZE / CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_ADDR, set them.
- On a small number of platforms that were not subtracting
  GENERATED_GBL_DATA_SIZE do so now via the standard calculation.
- CONFIG_SYS_INIT_SP_OFFSET is now widely unused, so remove it from most
  board config header files.

014315b2d8 spl: Provide more space to be used for storing SPL on imx28 OCRAM
With the current configuration provided in mxsimage{-spl}.mx28.cfg the
size of SPL binary has been constrained to 32 KiB, due to "LOAD IVT"
command with 0x8000 offset.

The problem was that, the imx28 ROM takes the u-boot.sb and then
extracts from it the IVT header and places it on the 0x8000 OCRAM offset
overwriting any valid (i.e. loaded from eMMC or SPI-NOR) SPL code. This
bug was unnoticed as the overwrite size was just 32 bytes, so the
probability that some important code is altered was low.

However, in the XEA board (where the SPL size is ~39KiB), the overwritten
data was `(struct dm_spi_ops *) 0x800c <mxs_spi_ops>`, which is used
during the boot process.

As a result the SPL execution code hanged with "undefined instruction"
abort as callbacks (with wrong addresses) from it were called.

The fix is to change the OCRAM's offset where IVT is loaded to 0xE000,
so the SPL can grow up to ~57KiB (the maximal size of OCRAM memory
available is 0xE3FC).

91f27f3ba8 mxs: power: Change sequence of enabling DCDC switches
The imx28 uses following voltage supplies hierarchy:

VDD_5V (VDD_BAT) -> VDDIO -> VDDA -> VDDMEM
			     \-----> VDDD

One shall first enable DCDC on the parent source (VDDIO) and then
follow with its children.

Fix this.

86c5e21013 ARM: make gd a function call for LTO and set via set_gd()
On ARM, the gd pointer is stored in registers r9 / x18. For this the
-ffixed-r9 / -ffixed-x18 flag is used when compiling, but using global
register variables causes errors when building with LTO, and these
errors are very difficult to overcome.

Richard Biener says [1]:
  Note that global register vars shouldn't be used with LTO and if they
  are restricted to just a few compilation units the recommended fix is
  to build those CUs without -flto.

We cannot do this for U-Boot since all CUs use -ffixed-reg flag.

It seems that with LTO we could in fact store the gd pointer differently
and gain performance or size benefit by allowing the compiler to use
r9 / x18. But this would need more work.

So for now, when building with LTO, go the clang way, and instead of
declaring gd a global register variable, we make it a function call via
macro.

35b65dd8ef reset: Remove addr parameter from reset_cpu()
Historically, the reset_cpu() function had an `addr` parameter which was
meant to pass in an address of the reset vector location, where the CPU
should reset to.  This feature is no longer used anywhere in U-Boot as
all reset_cpu() implementations now ignore the passed value.  Generic
code has been added which always calls reset_cpu() with `0` which means
this feature can no longer be used easily anyway.

Over time, many implementations seem to have "misunderstood" the
existence of this parameter as a way to customize/parameterize the reset
(e.g.  COLD vs WARM resets).  As this is not properly supported, the
code will almost always not do what it is intended to (because all
call-sites just call reset_cpu() with 0).

To avoid confusion and to clean up the codebase from unused left-overs
of the past, remove the `addr` parameter entirely.  Code which intends
to support different kinds of resets should be rewritten as a sysreset
driver instead.

This transformation was done with the following coccinelle patch:

401d1c4f5d common: Drop asm/global_data.h from common header
Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed.  In
a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding
another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header
files that had been pulled in, very indirectly.   Finally, we have a few
cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so
remove that include.

b75d8dc564 treewide: convert bd_t to struct bd_info by coccinelle
The Linux coding style guide (Documentation/process/coding-style.rst)
clearly says:

  It's a **mistake** to use typedef for structures and pointers.

Besides, using typedef for structures is annoying when you try to make
headers self-contained.

Let's say you have the following function declaration in a header:

  void foo(bd_t *bd);

This is not self-contained since bd_t is not defined.

To tell the compiler what 'bd_t' is, you need to include <asm/u-boot.h>

  #include <asm/u-boot.h>
  void foo(bd_t *bd);

Then, the include direcective pulls in more bloat needlessly.

If you use 'struct bd_info' instead, it is enough to put a forward
declaration as follows:

  struct bd_info;
  void foo(struct bd_info *bd);

Right, typedef'ing bd_t is a mistake.

I used coccinelle to generate this commit.

The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows:

0914011310 command: Remove the cmd_tbl_t typedef
We should not use typedefs in U-Boot. They cannot be used as forward
declarations which means that header files must include the full header to
access them.

Drop the typedef and rename the struct to remove the _s suffix which is
now not useful.

This requires quite a few header-file additions.

b6e7ef4bf7 ARM: mxs: spl_boot.c: make early_delay more robust
It's true that booting normally doesn't take long enough for the
register to roll (which actually happens in a little over an hour, not
just a few seconds). However, the counter starts at power-on, and if
the board is held in reset to be booted over USB, one actually risks
hitting wrap-around during boot, which can both result in too short
delays (if the "st += delay" calculation makes st small) and
theoretically also unbound delays (if st ends up being UINT_MAX and
one just misses sampling digctl_microseconds at that point).

It doesn't take more code to DTRT, and once bitten, twice shy.

The comment says to clear the bypass bit, but in fact it sets it, thus
selecting ref_xtal. And the next line of code does not set the divider

b4a2cdc13e arm: mxs: Increase VDDD voltage to match specification
According to IMX28CEC rev. 4, 10/2018, Table 15. Recommended Operating
Conditions, page 16, the VDDD should be set to 1.55V when the CPU is
operating at 454MHz. This is the case in U-Boot, hence increase the
VDDD voltage. This fixes instability when performing TFTP transfers.
Increase the brownout threshold to 1.4V. The documentation recommends
1.45V setting for the brownout, however, this triggers failure during
power block init, so keep the brownout slightly lower.

2f41ade79e linker: Modify linker scripts to be more generic
Make use of "IMAGE_MAX_SIZE" and "IMAGE_TEXT_BASE" rather than
CONFIG_SPL_MAX_SIZE and CONFIG_SPL_TEXT_BASE.  This lets us re-use the
same script for both SPL and TPL.  Add logic to scripts/Makefile.spl to
pass in the right value when preprocessing the script.

6180ea7e66 arm: remove prototype for get_timer_masked
The interruption support had be removed for ARM architecture and
the function get_timer_masked() is no more used except in some
the timer.c files.

This patch clean each timer.c which implement this function and
remove the associated prototype in u-boot-arm.h

For timer.c, I don't verify if the weak version of get_timer
(in lib/time.c) can be used

93b283d49f ARM: CPU: arm926ejs: Consolidate cache routines to common file
Four different boards had different options for enabling cache
that were virtually all the same.  This consolidates these
common functions into arch/arm/cpu/arm926ejs/cache.c

This also has the positive side-effect of enabling cache on
the Davinci (da850) boards.

83d290c56f SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel style
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and
there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from.  So we picked the
area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it
with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry.  Since then, the
Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first
line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line)
and with slightly different comment styles than us.

In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility
and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style.

This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared
license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag
contents.  There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag
and have introduced one.

07a8f79ee8 ARM: mxs: support full SPL framework
This allows using the full SPL framework on mxs devices.  In this
mode, the u-boot.sb image loaded by the boot ROM contains only the
SPL which then loads U-Boot proper or a kernel in falcon mode.

552a848e4f imx: reorganize IMX code as other SOCs
Change is consistent with other SOCs and it is in preparation
for adding SOMs. SOC's related files are moved from cpu/ to
mach-imx/<SOC>.

This change is also coherent with the structure in kernel.

fe21eaf92d ARM: mxs: allow boards to select DC-DC switching clock source
For some board designs, it might be useful to switch the DC-DC
clock source to something else rather the default 24 MHz, e.g.
for EMI reasons.

For this, override the mxs_power_setup_dcdc_clocksource function
in your board support files.

Example:
void mxs_power_setup_dcdc_clocksource(void)
{
    mxs_power_switch_dcdc_clocksource(POWER_MISC_FREQSEL_20MHZ);
}

a6b1e25fc6 ARM: mxs: fix VDDD brownout setting
At the moment, the desired brownout is at 1.0V. However,
this setting cannot be realized by hardware since we have
only 3 bits to represent the voltage difference from the
target value.

Target value is 1500 mV, brownout target is 1000 mV,
voltage steps are 25 mV.

Register content calculation:
  (1500 [mV] - 1000 [mV]) / 25 [mV] = 20 (decimal) = 0x14

  Register takes only 3 bits, that is 0x4.

But 0x4 * 25 [mV] = 100 [mV], that means that actual
brownout level is 1500 [mV] - 100 [mV] = 1.4 V.

Minimum possible BO level is
  1500 [mV] - 0x7 * 25 [mV] = 1315 [mV].

So lets use this value as desired BO value (which is
also the same as FSL bootlets use).

bf3b9cb6e8 imx: mxs: reimplement get_cpu_rev
Rewrite get_cpu_rev, from "static const char *get_cpu_rev(void)" to
"u32 get_cpu_rev(void)". To align with get_cpu_rev of other i.MXes.

Also write get_imx_type to replace get_cpu_type, since we have
macro named get_cpu_type.

066f876bf6 arm: mxs: Fix mkimage invocation
Remove this ad-hoc mkimage invocation in MXS Makefile and replace
it with the standard mkimage rule instead.

This patch fixes recent build issues introduced by the patch
92a655c mkimage: Set up a file size parameter and keep it updated
These build issues could be triggered by building for example the
MX28EVK and the u-boot.sb image:

e86c953059 imx28: Fix issue with GCC 5.x
The semantics for non-static functions declared inline have changed in
gcc5, causing the empty functions not to be emitted as an external
symbol.

Since lowlevel_init() is only referenced from start.S, it should not be
declared inline at all.

In case the DC-DC is already enabled mxs_enable_4p2_dcdc_input() returns
without reenabling brown out detection. So fix this issue by
moving the return before brown out deactivation.

32f9ef3e2b ARM: mxs: Get boot mode from OCRAM
Reading the boot mode pins after power-up does not necessarily represent the
boot mode used by the ROM loader. For example the state of a pin may have
changed because a recovery switch which was pressed to enter USB mode is
already released after plugging in USB.

The ROM loader stores the value a fixed address in OCRAM. Use this value
instead of reading the boot map pins.

The GLOBAL_BOOT_MODE_ADDR for i.MX28 is taken from an U-Boot patch for the
MX28EVK:

Leave the boot mode detection for the i.MX23 untouched. Someone has to test
whether the i.MX ROM loader does also store the boot mode in OCRAM and if the
address match.
