58d6d139c3 usb: ci_udc: fix request allocation when endpoints are disabled
The ci_udc driver request allocation assumes that the endpoint descriptor
pointer is set to retrieve the endpoint number, but that is only true
when the endpoint is enabled. This results in a NULL ptr dereference
which for me happens to return 0 value. This causes the EP0 request
struct to be returned for other endpoints. Some gadget drivers like
fastboot and USB MS work fine, but ethernet does not.

Really, the ci_udc driver is the oddball here doing this EP0 special
case handling Stephen added. All the other drivers alloc/free functions
are pretty much the same with the only variation being the size of the
private struct. This could all be consolidated to a common function.

3721eaf28e linux_compat: remove cpu_relax() define
The macro cpu_relax() is defined by several headers in different
ways.

arch/{arm,avr32,mips}/include/asm/processor.h defines it as follows:
  #define cpu_relax()	barrier()

On the other hand, include/linux/compat.h defines it as follows:
  #define cpu_relax() do {} while (0)

If both headers are included from the same source file, the warning
warning: "cpu_relax" redefined [enabled by default]

It effectively makes it impossible to include <linux/compat.h>

a588d99ac1 usb: CONFIG_USB_FASTBOOT prefix replacement for consistency
FASTBOOT is defined both by CONFIG_USB_FUNCTION_FASTBOOT AND CONFIG_CMD_FASTBOOT, so it doesn't
make much sense to have a CONFIG_USB_FASTBOOT prefix for fastboot-specific options, especially
given that other config options for fastboot use the CONFIG_FASTBOOT prefix.

This replaces the CONFIG_USB_FASTBOOT prefix with CONFIG_FASTBOOT, for consistency.

bc9071c9f3 usb: gadget: fastboot: Dequeue the previous IN request for the current request
Recent versions of the fastboot tool will query the partition type before doing
an operation on a partition (such as erase, flash, etc). It will then submit
the operation as soon as the response for the partition type is received.

Usually, the MUSB controller will see that the partition type request return
status was read by the host at the very same time as the actual operation
request is submitted by the host. However, the operation will be read first
(int_rx is handled first in musb_interrupt) and after it is completed, the
fastboot USB gadget driver will send another return status. Hence, this happens
before the musb gadget framework has had a chance to handle the previous
acknowledgement that the host read the return status and dequeue the request.

The host will then usually empty the FIFO by the time musb_interrupt gets around
handling the return status acknowledgement (for the previous request, this is
still on the same musb_interrupt call), so no other interrupt is generated and
the most recent return status acknowledgement remains unaccounted for.

It will then be used as a response for the next command, and the proper response
for it will be delayed to the next command, and so on.

Dequeuing the previous IN request in the fastboot code ensures that no previous
return status remains. It is acceptable to do it since there is no callback to
it anyways.

This also allows adding a check for the id-pin to platform_enable, so that
it can short circuit the 1s delay in usb_lowlevel_init() when no host cable
is plugged in and thus waiting for a device to show up is useless.

6cda369509 dm: usb: Use device_unbind_children to clean up usb devs on stop
On an usb stop instead of leaving orphan usb devices behind simply remove
them.

The result of this commit is best seen in the output of "dm tree" after
plugging out an usb hub with 2 devices plugges in and plugging in a keyb.
instead, before this commit the output would be:

 usb [ + ] `-- sunxi-musb
 usb_hub [ ] |-- usb_hub
 usb_mass_st [ ] | |-- usb_mass_storage
 usb_dev_gen [ ] | `-- generic_bus_0_dev_3
 usb_dev_gen [ + ] `-- generic_bus_0_dev_1

Notice the non active usb_hub child and its 2 non active children. The
first child being non-active as in this example also causes usb_get_dev_index
to return NULL when probing the first child, which results in the usb kbd
code not binding to the keyboard.

With this commit in place the output after swapping and "usb reset" is:

 usb [ + ] `-- sunxi-musb
 usb_dev_gen [ + ] `-- generic_bus_0_dev_1

As expected, and usb_get_dev_index works properly and the keyboard works.

7f59d16a50 usb: ehci: Properly deal with data toggle for interrupt endpoints
Without this we loose every other interrupt packet. We never noticed this
because with keyboards the packets which we were loosing would normally
be key release packets.

But now that we do keyrepeat in software instead of relying on the hid

This commit fixes this.

When submitting interrupt packets to an endpoint we only link in the ed
once to avoid some races surrounding unlinking of periodic endpoints,

with the same ed linked into both the periodic and async lists, which is
not good (tm).

This commit switches over to using separate ohci_device structs, and thus
separate ed-s for devices with interrupt endpoints, fixing this.

we must not only do for root ports but also for external hub ports, which
is why the common usb_hub code already waits a full second after powering

fcdd8aaa48 dm: usb: Fix finding of first upstream usb-2 hub in the ehci dm code
The ehci driver model code for finding the first upstream usb-2 hub before
this commit has a number of issues:

1) "if (!ttdev->speed != USB_SPEED_HIGH)" does not work because the '!'
takes presedence over the '!=' this should simply be
   "if (ttdev->speed == USB_SPEED_HIGH)"
2) It makes ttdev point to the first upstream usb-2 hub, but ttdev should
point to the last usb-1 device before the first usb-2 hub (when going
upstream from the device), as ttdev is used to find the port of the
first usb-2 hub to which the the last usb-1 device is connected.
3) parent_devnum however should be set to the devnum of the first usb-2
hub, so we need to keep pointers around to both usb_device structs.

To complicate things further during enumeration usb_device.dev will point
to the parent udevice, where as during normal use it will point to
the actual udevice, we must handle both cases correctly.

This commit fixes all this making usb-1 devices attached to usb-2 hubs,
including usb-1 devices attached to usb-1 hubs attached to usb-2 hubs, work.

7f1a07538f dm: usb: Copy over usb_device values from usb_scan_device() to final usb_device
Currently we copy over a number of usb_device values stored in the on stack
struct usb_device probed in usb_scan_device() to the final driver-model managed
struct usb_device in usb_child_pre_probe() through usb_device_platdata, and
then call usb_select_config() to fill in the rest.

There are 3 problems with this approach:

1) It does not fill in enough fields before calling usb_select_config(),
specifically it does not fill in ep0's maxpacketsize causing a div by zero
exception in the ehci driver.

2) It unnecessarily redoes a number of usb requests making usb probing slower

3) Calling usb_select_config() a second time fails on some usb-1 devices
plugged into usb-2 hubs, causing u-boot to not recognize these devices.

This commit fixes these issues by removing (*) the usb_select_config() call
from usb_child_pre_probe(), and instead of copying over things field by field
through usb_device_platdata, store a pointer to the in stack usb_device
(which is still valid when usb_child_pre_probe() gets called) and copy
over the entire struct.

*) Except for devices which are explictly instantiated through device-tree
rather then discovered through usb_scan_device() such as emulated usb devices
in the sandbox.

The 2/3 usb-phys on the sunxi SoCs are really a single separate functional

sunxi usb code to the driver-model then phy_probe will be called once
for the entire block from the driver-model enumeration code.

Move to this now as this also avoids problems with phy_probe being called
multiple times once we introduce ohci support. This also allows us to get rid
of the sunxi_usb_phy_enabled_count variable as phy_probe now is guaranteed

USB devices in U-Boot are currently probed only after all devices have

With driver model this approach doesn't work very well. We could build
a picture of the bus and then go back and add the devices later, but
this means that the data structures are incomplete for quite a while.
It also does not follow the model of being able to bind a device when we
discover it.

We would prefer to have devices automatically be bound as the device is
enumerated. This allows us to attach drivers to particular USB classes
or product/vendor IDs. This is the method used by Linux.

Add the required #defines from Linux, a way of declaring a USB driver and
the logic to locate the correct driver given the USB device's descriptors.

2d48aa69bd usb: modify usb_gadget_handle_interrupts to take controller index
Since we support multiple dwc3 controllers to be existent at the same

usb_gadget_handle_interrutps should take controller index as an

Hence the API of usb_gadget_handle_interrupts is modified to take

5877de9165 usb: dwc2: retry NAK'd interrupt transfers
IIUC, interrupt transfers are NAK'd by devices until they wish to trigger
an interrupt, and e.g. EHCI controllers retry these in HW until they are
ACK'd. However, DWC2 doesn't seem to retry, so we need to do this in SW.
In practice, I've seen DWC2_HCINT_FRMOVRUN happen too. I'm not quite sure
what this error implies; perhaps it's related to how near the end of a
USB frame we're at when the interrupt transfer is initiated? Anyway,
retrying this temporary error seems to be necessary too.

With all these commits applied, both my USB keyboards (one LS Lenovo and
one FS Dell) work correctly when there is no USB hub between the SoC and
the keyboard; We still need split transactions to be implemented for hubs
to work.

e236519b73 usb: dwc2: implement interrupt transfers
As best I can tell, there's no difference between bulk and interrupt
transfers in terms of how the HW should be programmed, at least given
that we're executing one transaction at a time rather than scheduling
them into frames for maximum throughput.

This patch ends up sharing the toggle bit state between bulk and
interrupt transfers on a particular EP. However I believe this is fine;
AFAIK a given EP either uses bulk or interrupt transfers and doesn't mix
them.

This patch doesn't do anything with the "interval" parameter for
interrupt transfers, but then most other USB controller drivers in U-Boot
don't either.

It turns out that one of my keyboards is happy to work using control
transfers but the other only gives non-zero "HID reports" via interrupt
transfers.

fc909c0563 usb: dwc2: fix bulk transfers
When I created wait_for_chhltd(), I noticed that some instances of the
code it replaced expected the ACK bit to be set and others didn't. I
assumed this was an accidental inconsistency in the code, so wrote
wait_for_chhltd() to always expect ACK to be set. This code appeared to
work correctly for both enumeration of USB keyboards and operation of
USB Ethernet devices. However, this change broke USB Mass Storage (at
least my USB SD card reader). This change reverts to exactly the
original behaviour. I'm not sure why the ACK bit isn't always set
(perhaps a quirk in the USB HW or DWC2 controller), but the code works
this way!

d1c880c66c usb: dwc2: fix aligned buffer usage
The original aligned_buffer usage:
a) Uselessly copied data into the aligned buffer even for IN
transactions. Fix this my making the copy conditional.
b) Always programmed the HW to transfer to/from the start of the aligned
buffer. This worked fine for OUT transactions since the memcpy copied
the OUT data to this location too. However, for large IN transactions,
since the copy from the aligned buffer to the "client" buffer was
deferred until after all chunks were transferred. it resulted in each

When booting from USB peripheral boot, the bootrom will not properly deinit the

90cdc1039d musb-new: Fix reset sequence when in host mode
This commit fixes a number of issues with the reset sequence of musb-new
in host mode:

1) Our usb device probe relies on a second device reset being done after the
first descriptors read. Factor the musb reset code into a usb_reset_root_port
function (and add this as an empty define for other controllers), and call
this when a device has no parent.

2) Just like with normal usb controllers there needs to be a delay after
reset, for normal usb controllers, this is handled in hub_port_reset, add a
delay to usb_reset_root_port.

3) Sync the musb reset sequence with the upstream kernel, clear all bits of
power except bits 4-7, and increase the time reset is asserted to 50 ms.

With these fixes an usb keyboard I have now always enumerates properly, where
as earlier it would only enumerare properly once every 5 tries.

b41411954d linux/kernel.h: sync min, max, min3, max3 macros with Linux
U-Boot has never cared about the type when we get max/min of two
values, but Linux Kernel does. This commit gets min, max, min3, max3
macros synced with the kernel introducing type checks.

Many of references of those macros must be fixed to suppress warnings.
We have two options:
 - Use min, max, min3, max3 only when the arguments have the same type
(or add casts to the arguments)
 - Use min_t/max_t instead with the appropriate type for the first
   argument

cba1da495d include: move various macros to include/linux/kernel.h
U-Boot has imported various utility macros from Linux
scattering them to various places without consistency.

In include/common.h are min, max, min3, max3, ARRAY_SIZE, ALIGN,
container_of, DIV_ROUND_UP, etc.
In include/linux/compat.h are min_t, max_t, round_up, round_down,
etc.
We also have duplicated defines of min_t in some *.c files.

Moreover, we are suffering from too cluttered include/common.h.

This commit moves various macros that originate in
include/linux/kernel.h of Linux to their original position.

Note:
This commit simply moves the macros; the macros roundup,
min, max, min2, max3, ARRAY_SIZE are different
from those of Linux at this point.

229dbba9b1 usb:ehci-mx6 add phy mode query function
usb_phy_enable should return status bit, but not phy mode bit, thus
add a new function usb_phy_mode to query the PHY for it's mode and
make usb_phy_enable just return 0 but not 'phy_ctrl & USBPHY_CTRL_OTG_ID'.

Include a new board weak function board_usb_phy_mode. If board code
does not reimplement this function, it just call usb_phy_mode and return
usb_phy_mode's return value. The reason to include such a weak function
is: " SOC OTG core <--connect--> board HOST port, but no pin id for
the board host port, so board can not use usb_phy_mode to return the
phy mode, but define it's own rule."

When we first start an int queue, the qh's overlay area is all zeros. This

would think the transfer has completed as the hc has not yet copied the
qt_token to the overlay, so the active flag is not set.

This fixes this by checking the actual qtd token, rather then the overlay.
This also fixes a (theoretical) race where we see the completion in the

the overlay to the actual qtd.

Something like

1cc03c5c53 dfu: Provide means to find difference between dfu-util -e and -R
This commit provides distinction between DFU device detach and reset.
The -R behavior is preserved with proper handling of the dfu-util's -e
switch, which detach the DFU device.

By running dfu-util -e; one can force device to finish the execution of
dfu command on target and execute some other scripted commands.

Moreover, some naming has been changed - the dfu_reset() method now is known
as dfu_detach(). New name better reflects the purpose of the code.

It was also necessary to increase the number of usb_gadget_handle_interrupts()
calls since we also must wait for detection of the USB reset event.

Example usage:
1. -e (detach) switch
 dfu-util -a0 -D file1.bin;dfu-util -a3 -D uImage;dfu-util -e

 access to u-boot prompt.

2. -R (reset) switch
 dfu-util -a0 -D file1.bin;dfu-util -R -a3 -D uImage

7ac1b410ac dfu: allow backend to specify a maximum buffer size
CONFIG_SYS_DFU_DATA_BUF_SIZE may be large to allow for FAT/ext layouts
to transfer large files. However, this means that individual write
operations will take a long time. Allow backends to specify a maximum
buffer size, so that each write operation is limited to a smaller data
block. This prevents the DFU protocol from timing out when e.g. writing
to SPI flash. I would guess that NAND might benefit from setting this
value too, but I can't test that.

3ee9593fce dfu: add write error handling
Fix calls to dfu_write() and dfu_flush() to detect errors in the I/O
itself. This could happen due to problems with the storage medium, or
simply when trying to write a FAT/ext file that is larger than the buffer
dfu_mmc.c maintains for this purpose.

Signal the error by switching the DFU state/status. This will be picked
up by the DFU client when it sends the next DFU request. Note that errors
can't simply be returned from e.g. dnload_request_complete(), since that
function has no way to pass errors back to the DFU client; a call to
dnload_request_complete() simply means that a USB OUT completed.

This error state/status needs to be cleared when the next DFU client
connects. While there is a DFU_CLRSTATUS request, no DFU client seems to
send this. Hence, clear this when selecting the USB alternate setting on
the USB interface.

Finally, dfu.c relies on a call to dfu_flush() to clear up the internal
state of the write transaction. Now that errors in dfu_write() are
detected, dfu_flush() may no longer be called for every transaction.
Separate out the cleanup code into a new function, and call it whenever
dfu_write() fails, as well as from any call to dfu_flush().

7e54188775 usb: ci_udc: fix items array size/stride calculation
2 QTDs are allocated for each EP. The current allocation scheme aligns
the first QTD in each pair, but simply adds the struct size to calculate
the second QTD's address. This will result in a non-cache-aligned
addresss IF the system's ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN is not 32 bytes (i.e. the
size of struct ept_queue_item).

Similarly, the original ilist_ent_sz calculation aligned the value to
ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN but didn't take the USB HW's 32-byte alignment
requirement into account. This doesn't cause a practical issue unless
ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN < 32 (which I suspect is quite unlikely), but we may
as well fix the code to be explicit, so it's obviously completely
correct.

The new value of ILIST_ENT_SZ takes all alignment requirements into
account, so we can simplify ci_{flush,invalidate}_qtd() by simply using
that macro rather than calling roundup().

Similarly, the calculation of controller.items[i] can be simplified,
since each QTD is evenly spaced at its individual alignment requirement,
rather than each pair being aligned, and entries within the pair being
spaced apart only by structure size.

d7beeb9358 usb: ci_udc: fix ci_flush_{qh,qtd} calls in ci_udc_probe()
ci_udc_probe() initializes a pair of QHs and QTDs for each EP. After
each pair has been initialized, the pair is cache-flushed. The
conversion from QH/QTD index [0..2*NUM_END_POINTS) to EP index
[0..NUM_ENDPOINTS] is incorrect; it simply subtracts 1 (which yields
the QH/QTD index of the first entry in the pair) rather than dividing
by two (which scales the range). Fix this.

On my system, this avoids cache debug prints due to requests to flush
unaligned ranges. This is caused because the flush calls happen before
the items[] array entries are initialized for all but EP0.
