Commit 65cc0e2a65 ("global: Move remaining CONFIG_SYS_* to CFG_SYS_*")
renamed CONFIG_SYS_UBOOT_START to CFG_SYS_UBOOT_START. Unfortunately,
this meant that the value was no longer available to the Makefile. This
caused imxrt to fail to boot. All the other boards that used this
variable were unaffected because they were using the default value
which is CONFIG_TEXT_BASE.
This commit converts CFG_SYS_UBOOT_START to Kconfig and sets the default
value to CONFIG_TEXT_BASE.

In 2cb43ef1c2 ("usb: ether: Fix error handling in usb_ether_init") the error
handling of usb_ether_init() was changed. Not a single other call site of this
function checks its return value, therefore follow suit in the am33xx code.
Do not cause the boot to halt if the usb gadget ethernet initialization fails:
initcall sequence 9ffdbd84 failed at call 808024b9 (err=-19)

Very few of the existing event-spy records use the arguments they are
passed. Update them to use a simple spy instead, to simplify the code.
Where an adaptor function is currently used, remove it where possible.

Since commit 56670d6fb8 ("disk: part: use common api to lookup part
driver") part_get_info_by_name_type() ignores the part_type parameter
used to restrict the partition table type.
omap_mmc_get_part_size() and part_get_info_by_name() are the only
consumers.
omap_mmc_get_part_size() calls with part_type = PART_TYPE_EFI because at
the time of implementation a speed up could be gained by passing the
partition table type. After 5 years experience without this restriction
it looks safe to keep it that way.
part_get_info_by_name() uses PART_TYPE_ALL.
Move the logic of part_get_info_by_name_type() to part_get_info_by_name()
and replace the function in omap_mmc_get_part_size().

The original function was only called once, before relocation. The new
one is called again after relocation. This was not the intent of the
original call. Fix this by renaming and updating the calling logic.
With this, chromebook_link64 makes it through SPL.

Since commit de39dc7162 ("arm: armv7-a: Compile and tune for armv7-a
instead of armv5") is used -march=armv7-a option for Omap3 platforms.
With directive ".arch_extension sec" it is possible for -march=armv7-a to
directly use ARM SMC instruction.
So enable ".arch_extension sec" in Omap3 lowlevel_init.S and replace hand
assembled ".word 0xe1600071" by "SMC #1".
Since commit 51d0638650 ("arm: omap-common: add secure smc entry") same
pattern is already used in arch/arm/cpu/armv7/omap-common/lowlevel_init.S.

At this point, the remaining places where we have a symbol that is
defined as CONFIG_... are in fairly odd locations. While as much dead
code has been removed as possible, some of these locations are simply
less obvious at first. In other cases, this code is used, but was
defined in such a way as to have been missed by earlier checks. Perform
a rename of all such remaining symbols to be CFG_... rather than
CONFIG_...

The event framework is just that, a framework. Enabling it by itself
does nothing, so we shouldn't ask the user about it. Reword (and correct
typos) around this the option and help text. This also applies to
DM_EVENT and EVENT_DYNAMIC. Only EVENT_DEBUG and CMD_EVENT should be
visible to the user to select, when EVENT is selected.
With this, it's time to address the larger problems. When functionality
uses events, typically via EVENT_SPY, the appropriate framework then
must be select'd and NOT imply'd. As the functionality will cease to
work (and so, platforms will fail to boot) this is non-optional and
where select is appropriate. Audit the current users of EVENT_SPY to
have a more fine-grained approach to select'ing the framework where
used. Also ensure the current users of event_register and also select
EVENT_DYNAMIC.

The fs_loader device is used to pull in settings via the chosen node.
However, there was no library function for this, so arria10 was doing it
explicitly. This function subsumes that, and uses ofnode_get_chosen_node
instead of navigating the device tree directly. Because fs_loader pulls
its config from the environment by default, it's fine to create a device
with nothing backing it at all. Doing this allows enabling
CONFIG_FS_LOADER without needing to modify the device tree.

The current name is inconsistent with SPL which uses CONFIG_SPL_TEXT_BASE
and this makes it imposible to use CONFIG_VAL().

There is a number of users that use uclass_first_device to access the
first and (assumed) only device in uclass.
Some check the return value of uclass_first_device and also that a
device was returned which is exactly what uclass_first_device_err does.
Some are not checking that a device was returned and can potentially
crash if no device exists in the uclass. Finally there is one that
returns NULL on error either way.
Convert all of these to use uclass_first_device_err instead, the return
value will be removed from uclass_first_device in a later patch.

This converts CONFIG_SYS_L2_PL310 to Kconfig.
For omap2 and mvebu the 'select SYS_L2_PL310' locations were
determined using ./tools/moveconfig -i CONFIG_SYS_L2_PL310.
For mx6 I manually chose ARCH_MX6 as 'select' location. The
correctness has been verified using
$ ./tools/moveconfig.py -f ARCH_MX6 ~SYS_L2_PL310 ~SYS_L2CACHE_OFF
0 matches
That means whenever an ARCH_MX6 board had SYS_L2_PL310 disabled, this
was correctly reflected in SYS_L2CACHE_OFF. Thus it's safe to insert
the 'select' statement under ARCH_MX6.

Some of config options are board specific and should be set in into their
default values automatically. So move them from defconfig file to Kconfig
definitions to ensure that possible user custom defconfig files would have
these required options also enabled.

Switch from custom board specific fixup/copy code to U-Boot generic
position independent code provided by config option POSITION_INDEPENDENT.
This also slightly decrease size of u-boot.bin binary (by 52 bytes). Note
that option POSITION_INDEPENDENT increase size but not more than custom
board fixup/copy code which is being deleted (as it is not needed anymore).

The ISW_ENTRY_ADDR symbol was used for OMAP devices in place of
SPL_TEXT_BASE. Keystone2 HS devices were not using it right either.
Remove ISW_ENTRY_ADDR and use SPL_TEXT_BASE directly.

We have a single platform that is both in the OMAP3 family of parts, but
has an EMIF4 memory controller. Currently we hard-code the size of
chip select 0. Make this more clear by putting the value in the
function rather than a CONFIG option.

Rename the sections used to implement linker lists so they begin with
'__u_boot_list' rather than '.u_boot_list'. The double underscore at the
start is still distinct from the single underscore used by the symbol
names.
Having a '.' in the section names conflicts with clang's ASAN
instrumentation which tries to add redzones between the linker list
elements, causing expected accesses to fail. However, clang doesn't try
to add redzones to user sections, which are names with all alphanumeric
and underscore characters.

This is always defined to 2, and referenced in two places. Move the
define to <asm/omap_common.h> and make sure the code that uses this
includes that file. Make <asm/arch-omap*/clock.h> not include that
file, as we don't need to be doing so.

A big part is the DM pinctrl driver, which allows us to get rid of quite
some custom pinmux code and make the whole port much more robust. Many
thanks to Samuel for that nice contribution! There are some more or less
cosmetic warnings about missing clocks right now, I will send the trivial
fixes for that later.
Another big chunk is the mkimage upgrade, which adds RISC-V and TOC0
(secure images) support. Both features are unused at the moment, but I
have an always-secure board that will use that once the DT lands in the
kernel.
On top of those big things we have some smaller fixes, improving the
I2C DM support, fixing some H6/H616 early clock setup and improving the
eMMC boot partition support.
The gitlab CI completed successfully, including the build test for all
161 sunxi boards. I also boot tested on a A64, A20, H3, H6, and F1C100
board. USB, SD card, eMMC, and Ethernet all work there (where applicable).
Platforms can overwrite the weak definition of spl_mmc_boot_mode() to
determine where to load U-Boot proper from.
For most of them this is a trivial decision based on Kconfig variables,
but it might be desirable the probe the actual device to answer this
question.
Pass the pointer to the mmc struct to that function, so implementations
can make use of that.
Compile-tested for all users changed.

At this point DM and OF_CONTROL are used to configure how the USB ports
are enabled, with the exception of in SPL and no SPL_OF_CONTROL. Remove
a bunch of now unused logic to simplify the code.

This converts the following to Kconfig:

We do this by introducing specific options for static configuration of
USB0/USB1 in SPL rather than defining CONFIG_AM335X_USBx_MODE to the
enum value being used. Furthermore, with how the code is used now we do
not need to have OTG mode exposed as an option here, so remove that.
