0a097ba54b arc: Don't halt slaves
This commit basically reverts two commits:
 1. cf628f772e ("arc: arcv1: Disable master/slave check")
 2. 6cba327bd9 ("arcv2: Halt non-master cores")

With mentioned commits in-place we experience more trouble than
benefits. In case of SMP Linux kernel this is really required as
we have all the cores running from the very beginning and then we
need to allow master core to do some preparatory work while slaves
are not getting in the way.

In case of U-Boot we:
 a) Don't really run more than 1 core in parallel
 b) We may use whatever core for that

2178817c4a arc: Get rid of handwritten string routines
U-Boot is a bit special piese of software because it is being
only executed once on power-on as compared to operating system
for example. That's why we don't care much about performance
optimizations instead we're more concerned about size. And up-to-date
compilers might produce much smaller code compared to
performance-optimized routines copy-pasted from the Linux kernel.

Here's an example:
------------------------------->8--------------------------
--- size_asm_strings.txt
+++ size_c_strings.txt
@@ -1,2 +1,2 @@
text data bss dec hex	filename
- 121260 3784 3308 128352 1f560	u-boot
+ 120448 3784 3308 127540 1f234	u-boot
------------------------------->8--------------------------

See we were able to shave off ~800 bytes of .text section.

Also usage of string routines implemented in C gives us an ability
to support more HW flavors for free: generated instructions will match
our target as long as correct compiler option is used.

4280342adb fdt: Implement weak arch_fixup_fdt()
Only ARM and in some configs MIPS really implement arch_fixup_fdt().
Others just use the same boilerplate which is not good by itself,
but what's worse if we try to build with disabled CONFIG_CMD_BOOTM
and enabled CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT we'll hit an unknown symbol which was
apparently implemented in arch/xxx/lib/bootm.c.

Now with weak arch_fixup_fdt() right in image-fdt.c where it is
used we get both items highlighted above fixed.

d53b128df4 arc: Fix final linkage with Elf32 tools
ARC Elf32 tools by default enable usage of so-called "small data"
section or in ARC PRM parlance "GP-relative addressing".

The idea is to put up to 2kB of frequently used data into a separate
location and use indirect addressing via dedicated core register (GP).
Where GP is used as a base for offset calculation.

And so if "-msdata" toggle is passed to the compiler either explicitly
or implicitly (that's Elf32 tools case) it will try to put some data
in that "small data" area and then to calculate real offset from GP
to be encoded in instructions we need to know the base value which
liker gets from __SDATA_BEGIN__ symbol in hte linker script.

In U-Boot we don't use that feature and linker script doesn't define
__SDATA_BEGIN__ which gives us the following linkage error if we use
Elf32 tools:
------------------------->8-------------------
  LD u-boot
.../bin/arc-elf32-ld.bfd: Error: Linker symbol __SDATA_BEGIN__ not found
.../bin/arc-elf32-ld.bfd: final link failed: Bad value
------------------------->8-------------------

Note if uClibc or glibc tools are used that problem doesn't happen
because usage of "small data section" is disabled by default as not very
useful for bigger executables. Moreover GP is just another name of r26
so we're loosing 1 core register which is not used by the compiler as a
generic register with "-msdata".

c0e6769a82 ARC: Invalidate instruction and data caches early on boot
This is useful to make sure no stale data exists in caches after bootloaders.

The worst thing could be some lines of cache were locked in a bootloader

b0146f9e29 ARC: Cache: Disable IOC by default
We'd like to keep IOC HW at the same state as t is right after reset when we
start Linux kernel so there will be no re-configuration of IOC on the go.

The point is U-Boot doesn't benefit a lot from IOC as it doesn't do a
lot of DMA operations especially on multiple cores simultaneously.

At the same time re-configuration of IOC in run-time might become quite
a tricky experience because we need to make sure there're no DMA
trannsactions in flight otherwise unexpected consequencses might affect
us much later and debugging those kinds of issues will be a real
nightmare.

That said let's make our life easier a little bit.

41cada4d24 ARC: ARCv2: Cache: Fixed operation without IOC
Previous SLC management implementation is broken. Seems like it was
never sufficiently tested probably because most of the time IOC was used
instead (i.e. no manual cache operations were done).

Now if we disable IOC in U-boot we'll get a lot of errors while using
DMA-enabled peripherals.

This time we fix it by substitution of broken per-line SLC operations
region operations as it is done in the Linux kernel (we took it from
v4.14 which is the latest stable as of today).

Among other things this implementation might be a bit faster because
instead of iteration over each and every cache line we're taking care
about entire region in one go.

Main changes:
 * Replaced __slc_line_op (per line operations) by __slc_rgn_op
   (region operations).

 * Reworked __slc_entire_op to get rid of __after_slc_op and
   __before_slc_op functions.
Note flush fix (flush only instead of flush-n-inv when OP_FLUSH is
used, see [1] for more details) is already incorporated here.

 * Added SLC invalidation to invalidate_icache_all().

 * Added (start >= end) check to invalidate_dcache_range() and
flush_dcache_range() as some buggy drivers pass region start == end.

 * Added read-out of MMU BCR so we may know if PAE40 exists in HW and then
act on a particular AUX regs accordingly.

3cf239394a ARC: cache: explicitly initialize "*_exists" variables
dcache_exists, icache_exists, slc_exists and ioc_exists global
variables in "arch/arc/lib/cache.c" remain uninitialized if
SoC doesn't have corresponding HW.

This happens because we use the next constructions for their
definition and initialization:
-------------------------->>---------------------
int ioc_exists __section(".data");

if (/* condition */)
		ioc_exists = 1;
-------------------------->>---------------------

That's quite a non-trivial issue as one may think of it.
The point is we intentionally put those variables in ".data" section
so they might survive relocation (remember we initilaize them very early
before relocation and continue to use after reloaction). While being
non-initialized and not explicitly put in .data section they would end-up
in ".bss" section which by definition is filled with zeroes.
But since we place those variables in .data section we need to care
about their proper initialization ourselves.

Also while at it we change their type to "bool" as more appropriate.

97a63144a9 arcv2: Set IOC aperture so it covers available DDR
We used to use the same memory layout and size for a couple of
boards and thus we just hardcoding IOC aperture start and size.

Now when we're getting more boards with more memory on board we
need to have an ability to set IOC so it matches real DDR layout
and size.

Even though it is not really a must but for simplicity we assume
IOC covers all the DDR we have, that gives us a chance to not
bother where DMA buffers are allocated - any part of DDR is OK.

40a808f173 ARCv2: SLC: Make sure busy bit is set properly on SLC flushing
As reported in STAR 9001165532, an SLC control reg read (for checking
busy state) right after SLC invalidate command may incorrectly return
NOT busy causing software to NOT spin-wait while operation is underway.
(and for some reason this only happens if L1 cache is also disabled - as
required by IOC programming model)

Suggested workaround is to do an additional Control Reg read, which
ensures the 2nd read gets the right status.

0c77092e81 arc: dts: separate single axs10x.dts file
We want to use the same device tree blobs in both Linux and U-Boot for
ARC boards.

Earlier device tree sources in U-Boot were very simplified and hadn't been
updated for quite a long period of time.

So this commit is the first step on the road to unified device tree blobs.

First of all we re-organize device tree sources for AXS10X boards.
As AXS101 and AXS103 boards consist of AXS10X motherboard and AXC001 and
AXC003 cpu tiles respectively we add corresponding device tree source
files: axs10x_mb.dtsi for motherboard, axc001.dtsi and axc003.dtsi for
cpu tiles and axs101.dts and axs103.dts to represent actual boards.

Also we delete axs10x.dts as it is no longer used.

One more important change - we add timer device to ARC skeleton device
tree sources as both ARC700 and ARCHS cores contain such timer.
We add core_clk nodes to abilis_tb100, nsim, axc001 and axc003 device tree
sources as it is referenced via phandle from timer node in common
skeleton.dtsi file.

invalidate_dcache_all() could be used in different use-cases
and what is especially important most of those cases won't be

invalidation of data used purely by CPU cores.

Given that IOC engine only snoops data that goes through DMA

379b3280b3 arc: cache - accommodate different L1 cache line lengths
ARC core could be configured with different L1 and L2 (AKA SLC) cache
line lengths. At least these values are possible and were really used:
32, 64 or 128 bytes.

Current implementation requires cache line to be selected upon U-Boot
configuration and then it will only work on matching hardware. Indeed
this is quite efficient because cache line length gets hardcoded during
code compilation. But OTOH it makes binary less portable.

With this commit we allow U-Boot to determine real L1 cache line length
early in runtime and use this value later on. This extends portability
of U-Boot binary a lot.

8b2eb776b1 arc: implement slave cores kick-start for Linux kernel
With new SMP-enabled CPUs with ARC HS38 cores and corresponding support
in Linux kernel it's required to add basic SMP support in U-Boot.

Currently we assume the one and only core starts execution after
power-on. So most of things in U-Boot is handled in UP mode.

But when U-Boot is used for loading and starting Linux kernel right
before jumping to kernel's entry point U-Boot:
[1] Sets all slave cores to jump to the same address [kernel's entry
point]
[2] Really starts all slav cores

In ARC's implemetation of SMP in Linux kernel all cores are supposed to
run the same start-up code. But only core with ID 0 (master core)
processes further while others are looping waiting for master core to
complete some initialization.

That means it's safe to un-pause slave cores and let them execute kernel
- they will wait for master anyway.

f13606b77d arc: introduce U-Boot port for ARCv2 ISA
ARC HS and ARC EM are new cores based on ARCv2 ISA which is binary
incompatible with ISAv1 (AKA ARCompact).

Significant difference between ISAv2 and v1 is implementation of
interrupt vector table.

In v1 it is implemented in the same way as on many other architectures -
as a special location where user may put whether code executed in place
(if machine word of space is enough) or jump to a full-scale interrupt
handler.

In v2 interrupt table is just an array of adresses of real interrupt
handlers. That requires a separate section for IVT that is not encoded
as code by assembler.

This change adds support for following cores:
 * ARC EM6 (simple 32-bit microcontroller without MMU)
 * ARC HS36 (advanced 32-bit microcontroller without MMU)

toolchain because we don't rely on pre-built libgcc.

For example:
 * we may use little-endian toolchain but build U-Boot for ether
endianess
 * we may use non-multilibbed uClibc toolchain but build U-Boot for
whatever ARC CPU flavour that current GCC supports

Private libgcc built from generic C implementation contributes only 144
bytes to .text section so we don't see significant degradation of size:
--->8---
$ arc-linux-size u-boot.libgcc-prebuilt
text data bss dec hex	filename
 222217 24912 214820 461949 70c7d	u-boot.libgcc-prebuilt

$ arc-linux-size u-boot.libgcc-private
text data bss dec hex	filename
 222361 24912 214820 462093 70d0d	u-boot.libgcc-private
--->8---

Also I don't notice visible performance degradation compared to
pre-built libgcc (where at least "*div*" functions are had-written in
assembly) on typical operations of downloading 10Mb uImage over TFTP and
bootm.

"reset.c" and "cpu.c" have no architecture-specific code at all.
Others are applicable to either ARC CPU.

This change is a preparation to submission of ARCv2 architecture port.

Even though ARCv1 and ARCv2 ISAs are not binary compatible most of
built-in modules still have the same programming model - AUX registers
are mapped in the same addresses and hold the same data (new featues
extend existing ones).

So only low-level assembly code (start-up, interrupt handlers) is left
as CPU(actually ISA)-specific. This significantyl simplifies maintenance
of multiple CPUs/ISAs.

20a58ac0d8 arc: introduce separate section for interrupt vector table
Even though existing implementation works fine in preparation to
submission of ARCv2 architecture we need this change.

In case of ARCv2 interrupt vector table consists of just addresses
of corresponding handlers. And if those addresses will be in .text
section then assembler will encode them as everything in .text section
as middle-endian and then on real execution CPU will read swapped
addresses and will jump into the wild.

Once introduced new section is situated so .text section remains the
first which allows us to use common linker option for linking everything
to a specified CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE.

f8cf3d1ebd arc: check caches existence before use
Some cache operations ({i|d}cache_{enable|disable|status} or
flush_dcache_all) are built and used even if CONFIG_SYS_{I|D}CACHE_OFF
is set.

This is required for force disable of caches on early boot.
What if something was executed before U-boot and enabled caches
(low-level bootloaders, previously run kernel etc.)?

But if CPU doesn't really have caches any attempt to access
cache-related AUX registers triggers instruction error exception.

So for convenience we'll try to avoid exceptions by checking if CPU
actually has caches (we check separately data and instruction cache
existence) at all.

4c8c485ad9 arc: introduce "mdbtrick" target
MetaWare debugger (MDB) is still used as a primary tool for interaction
with target via JTAG. Moreover some very advanced features are not yet
implemented in GDB for ARC (and not sure if they will be implemnted
sometime soon given complexity and rare need for those features for
common user).

So if we're talking about development process when U-Boot is loaded in
target memory not by low-level boot-loader but manually through JTAG
chances are high developer uses MDB for it.

But MDB doesn't support PIE (position-independent executable) - it will
refuse to even start - that means no chance to load elf contents on
target.
Then the only way to load U-Boot in MDB is to fake it by:
  1. Reset PIE flag in ELF header
This is simpe - on attempt to open elf MDB checks header and if it
doesn't match its expectation refuces to use provided elf.
  2. Strip all debug information from elf
If (1) is done then MDB will open elf but on parsing of elf's debug
info it will refuse to process due to debug info it cannot understand
(symbols with PIE relocation).

Even though it could be done manually (I got it documented quite a while
ago here http://www.denx.de/wiki/U-Boot/ARCNotes) having this automated
way is very convenient. User may build U-Boot that will be loaded on
target via MDB saying "make mdbtrick".

Then if we now apply the manipulation MDB will happily start and will
load all required sections into the target.

Indeed there will be no source-level debug info available. But still MDB
will do its work on showing disassembly, global symbols, registers,
accessing low-level debug facilities etc.

As a summary - this is a pretty dirty hack but it simplifies life a lot
for us ARc developers.

dd84058d24 kconfig: add board Kconfig and defconfig files
This commit adds:

 - board/${VENDOR}/${BOARD}/Kconfig or board/${BOARD}/Kconfig
set CONFIG macros to the appropriate values for each board
 - configs/${TARGET_BOARD}_defconfig
    default setting of each board

(This commit was automatically generated by a conversion script
based on boards.cfg)

In Linux Kernel, defconfig files are located under
arch/${ARCH}/configs/ directory.
It works in Linux Kernel since ARCH is always given from the
command line for cross compile.

But in U-Boot, ARCH is not given from the command line.
Which means we cannot know ARCH until the board configuration is done.
That is why all the "*_defconfig" files should be gathered into a
single directory ./configs/.
