The test adds two pinmux nodes to the device tree, one to test when a
register changes only one pin's mux (pinctrl-single,pins), and the other
to test when more than one pin's mux is changed (pinctrl-single,bits).
This required replacing the controller's register access functions when
the driver is used on sandbox.

It allows to display the muxing of a given pin. Inspired by more recent
versions of the Linux driver, in addition to the address and the value
of the configuration register I added the pin function retrieved from
the DT. In doing so, the information displayed does not depend on the
platform, being a generic type driver, and it can be useful for debug
purposes.

The patch is inspired by more recent versions of the Linux driver.
Replacing the default value 0xffffffff of the function mask with 0 is
certainly more conservative in case the "pinctrl-single,function-mask"
DT property is missing.

In more recent versions of the Linux kernel the driver's probe function
returns an error if the "pinctrl-single,register-width" DT property is
missing. The lack of this information, in fact, does not allow to know
whether to access the registers of the controller at 8, 16, ... bits.

address preceded by the prefix 0x0x instead of 0x. This because the

The pinmux configuration DT node of a peripheral does not define a
physical address but an offset. Only by adding it to the base address of
the controller it is possible to calculate the physical address of the
register to be configured. Printing an offset also requires a different
formatting option than a physical address.

The mtk pinctrl driver is a combination driver with support for both
pinctrl and gpio. When this driver is used in SPL, gpio support may not be
enabled, and this will result in a compilation error.
To fix this, macros are added to make sure gpio related code will only be
compiled when gpio support is enabled.

It is convenient to be able to adjust some of the flags for a GPIO while
leaving others alone. Add a function for this.
Update dm_gpio_set_dir_flags() to make use of this.
Also update dm_gpio_set_value() to use this also, since this allows the
open-drain / open-source features to be implemented directly in the
driver, rather than using the uclass workaround.
Update the sandbox tests accordingly. This involves a lot of changes to
dm_test_gpio_opendrain_opensource() since we no-longer have the direciion
being reported differently depending on the open drain/open source flags.
Also update the STM32 drivers to let the uclass handle the active low/high
logic.
Drop the GPIOD_FLAGS_OUTPUT() macro which is no-longer used.

It is more useful to be able to read all the flags, not just the direction
ones. In fact this is what the STM32 driver does. Update the method name
to reflect this.
Tweak the docs a little and use 'flagsp' as the return argument, as is
common in driver model, to indicate it returns a value.

SAMA7G5 supports slew rate configuration. Adapt the driver for this.
For switching frequencies lower than 50MHz the slew rate needs to
be enabled. Since most of the pins on SAMA7G5 fall into this category
enabled the slew rate by default.

Bind only the enabled GPIO subnode, to avoid to probe the node
"gpio-controller" present in SOC dtsi (disabled by default) but
not enabled in the included pincontrol dtsi file.

OTYPE can be used for output or for alternate function to select
PP = push-pull or OP = open-drain mode, according reference manual
(Table 81. Port bit configuration table).
This patch removes this indication for input pins and adds it
for AF and output pins for pinmux command output.

pin-controller pin's name must be equal to pin's name used in device
tree with "pins" DT property.
Issue detected on stm32mp157c-ev1 board with goodix touchscreen.
In DT, the goodix's pin is declared in DT with the node:

Whereas in stmfx pin-controller driver, pin's name are equal to
"stmfx_gpioxx" where xx is the pin number.
This lead to not configure stmfx's pins at probe because pins is
identified by its name (see pinctrl_pin_name_to_selector() in
pinctrl-generic.c) and stmfx pin "gpio14" can't be found.
To fix this issue, come back to the original stmfx pin's name.

Use dev_read_prop instead of using the fdt_read_property which
reads from the GD struct's fdt.
This way the node is accessed via the device config instead of the
global struct, which makes code more portable and GD independent.

By default on startup all the pin types are configured to
PINMUX_TYPE_NONE (in sh_pfc_map_pins()), when pin is set as GPIO the
pin type is updated to PINMUX_TYPE_GPIO. But the type is not updated
when the pin is set as a function in sh_pfc_pinctrl_pin_set() or
sh_pfc_pinctrl_group_set() calls (these calls only set the MUX if
the pin type is PINMUX_TYPE_NONE ie unused).
So with the current implementation pin functionality could be overwritten
silently, for example if the same pin is added for SPI and serial.
This patch makes sure of updating pin type after every successful call to
sh_pfc_config_mux() and thus fixing from pin functionality to be
overwritten. Also a warning message is printed if the current pin is being
overwritten before abort.
This also avoids pin re-muxing to same type that is for example from
command line device is asked to re-probe/select (mmc dev x) we return
early with success in this case as the pin is already muxed.

We use the U_BOOT_ prefix (i.e. U_BOOT_DRIVER) to declare a driver but
in every other case we just use DM_. Update the alias macros to use the
DM_ prefix.
We could perhaps rename U_BOOT_DRIVER() to DM_DRIVER(), but this macro
is widely used and there is at least some benefit to indicating it us a
U-Boot driver, particularly for code ported from Linux. So for now, let's
keep that name.

These errors are only really for development purposes. Drop them to reduce
the size of TPL. The error numbers are still reported.

This construct is quite long-winded. In earlier days it made some sense
since auto-allocation was a strange concept. But with driver model now
used pretty universally, we can shorten this to 'auto'. This reduces
verbosity and makes it easier to read.
Coincidentally it also ensures that every declaration is on one line,
thus making dtoc's job easier.

The Fully-Programmable Input/Output Array (FPIOA) device controls pin
multiplexing on the K210. The FPIOA can remap any supported function to any
multifunctional IO pin. It can also perform basic GPIO functions, such as
reading the current value of a pin. However, GPIO functionality remains
largely unimplemented (in favor of the dedicated GPIO peripherals).

This extends the pinctrl-sandbox driver to support pin muxing, and adds a
test for that behaviour. The test is done in C and not python (like the
existing tests for the pinctrl uclass) because it needs to call
pinctrl_select_state. Another option could be to add a command that
invokes pinctrl_select_state and then test everything in
test/py/tests/test_pinmux.py.
The pinctrl-sandbox driver now mimics the way that many pinmux devices
work. There are two groups of pins which are muxed together, as well as
four pins which are muxed individually. I have tried to test all normal
paths. However, very few error cases are explicitly checked for.

The pinmux property allows for smaller and more compact device trees,
especially when there are many pins which need to be assigned individually.
Instead of specifying an array of strings to be parsed as pins and a
function property, the pinmux property contains an array of integers
representing pinmux groups. A pinmux group consists of the pin identifier
and mux settings represented as a single integer or an array of integers.
Each individual pin controller driver specifies the exact format of a
pinmux group. As specified in the Linux documentation, a pinmux group may
be multiple integers long. However, no existing drivers use multi-integer
pinmux groups, so I have chosen to omit this feature. This makes the
implementation easier, since there is no need to allocate a buffer to do
endian conversions.
Support for the pinmux property is done differently than in Linux. As far
as I can tell, inversion of control is used when implementing support for
the pins and groups properties to avoid allocating. This results in some
duplication of effort; every property in a config node is parsed once for
each pin in that node. This is not such an overhead with pins and groups
properties, since having multiple pins in one config node does not occur
especially often. However, the semantics of the pinmux property make such a
configuration much more appealing. A future patch could parse all config
properties at once and store them in an array. This would make it easier to
create drivers which do not function solely as callbacks from
pinctrl-generic.
This commit increases the size of the sandbox build by approximately 48
bytes. However, it also decreases the size of the K210 device tree by 2
KiB from the previous version of this series.
The documentation has been updated from the last Linux commit before it was
split off into yaml files.

When you enable CONFIG_OF_LIVE, you will end up with a lot of
conversions.
To help this tedious work, this commit converts devfdt_get_addr_ptr()
to dev_read_addr_ptr() by coccinelle. I also removed redundant casts
because dev_read_addr_ptr() returns an opaque pointer.

According to the description of devfdt_get_addr_ptr, this function should
return NULL on failure, but currently it returns (void *)FDT_ADDR_T_NONE.
Fix this by making devfdt_get_addr_ptr return NULL on failure, as
described in the function comments. Also, update the drivers currently
checking (void *)FDT_ADDR_T_NONE to check for NULL.

The pins for the MMC controller weren't being set up correctly because the
pinctrl driver only sets the GPIO pullup/pulldown config and doesn't
handle the special cases with PUPD/R0/R1 control.

At present the itss is probed in the ofdata_to_platdata() method. This is
incorrect since itss is a child of p2sb which itself needs to probe the
pinctrl device. This means that p2sb is effectively not probed when the
itss is probed, so we get the wrong register address from p2sb.
Fix this by moving the itss probe to the correct place.

At present we can query the offset of a pinctrl register within the p2sb.
For ACPI we need to get the actual address of the register. Add a function
to handle this and rename the old one to more accurately reflect its
purpose.

Currently when using OF_PLATDATA the binding between devices and drivers
is done trying to match the compatible string in the node with a driver
name. However, usually a single driver supports multiple compatible strings
which causes that only devices which its compatible string matches a
driver name get bound.
To overcome this issue, this patch adds the U_BOOT_DRIVER_ALIAS macro,
which generates no code at all, but allows an easy way to declare driver
name aliases. Thanks to this, dtoc could be improve to look for the driver
name based on its alias when it populates the U_BOOT_DEVICE entry.

When using OF_PLATDATA, the bind process between devices and drivers
is performed trying to match compatible string with driver names.
However driver names are not strictly defined, and also there are different
names used when declaring a driver with U_BOOT_DRIVER, the name of the
symbol used in the linker list and the used in the struct driver_info.
In order to make things a bit more clear, rename the drivers names. This
will also help for further OF_PLATDATA improvements, such as checking
for valid driver names.

dev_read_addr_ptr had different semantics depending on whether OF_LIVE was
enabled. This patch converts both implementations to return NULL on error,
and converts all call sites which check for FDT_ADDR_T_NONE to check for
NULL instead. This patch also removes the call to map_physmem, since we
have dev_remap_addr* for those semantics.

read pinctrl-single,pins/bits property is provided with pinctrl device
pointer instead of pinctrl config pointer. Because of this none of the
pins gets configured. Fix it by passing the right udevice pointer.

This patch solves the parsing issue during sandbox tests for pin

At present dm/device.h includes the linux-compatible features. This
requires including linux/compat.h which in turn includes a lot of headers.
One of these is malloc.h which we thus end up including in every file in
U-Boot. Apart from the inefficiency of this, it is problematic for sandbox
which needs to use the system malloc() in some files.
Move the compatibility features into a separate header file.

At present devres.h is included in all files that include dm.h but few
make use of it. Also this pulls in linux/compat which adds several more
headers. Drop the automatic inclusion and require files to include devres
themselves. This provides a good indication of which files use devres.

Recent Intel SoCs share a pinctrl mechanism with many common elements. Add
an implementation of this core functionality, allowing SoC-specific
drivers to avoid adding common code.
As well as a pinctrl driver this provides a GPIO driver based on the same
code.
Once other SoCs use this driver we may consider moving more properties to
the device tree (e.g. the community info and pad definitions).

An iomux register contains 8 pins, each of which is represented
by 2 bits, but the register offset is 0x8.
For example, GRF_GPIO0A_IOMUX offset is 0x0, but GRF_GPIO0B_IOMUX
offset is 0x8, the offset 0x4 is reserved.
So add a type IOMUX_8WIDTH_2BIT to calculate offset.

U-Boot support on Raspberry Pi 4 relies on the device-tree
provided by the firmware. The blob does not contain the
U-Boot specific pre-loc-rel properties. The result is, that
the U-Boot banner is not printed.
We fix this by setting the DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in the driver,
if we rely on a device-tree provided by the firmware.

Correct the name of the define used CONFIG_IS_ENABLED which is
not aligned with Kconfig name: CONFIG_$(SPL_)PINCONF_RECURSIVE.
The recursive calls is conditional only for UCLASS_PINCONFIG
"pinconfig" driver.
It is always needed to call pinctrl_post_bind for UCLASS_PINCTRL
"pinctrl", the test CONFIG_IS_ENABLED(PINCONF_RECURSIVE) need to
be removed for this driver.
This correct a regression introduced because the same patch is
applied twice times in u-boot-dm branch:

For NXP SoCs we have to set pinmux configuration ASAP (ideally
before relocation) to get serial console working. Without this we miss
almost the half of output (U-boot version, CPU defails, Reset cause,
DRAM details etc.).
To achieve this we need to force appropriate pinctrl drivers to get
probed before relocation.

In spite of the summary line, U-Boot commits [1-2] seem to have
aligned the U-Boot PFC tables to Linux v5.1 rather than to v5.0, since
they also imported the Linux 5.1 commits listed in [3].
What current commit tries to accomplish is to align the Gen2 and Gen3
pinctrl tables to Linux v5.2. Importing these updates in two steps
as done before (i.e. separately for Gen2 and Gen3) is somewhat difficult
due to Linux commits like [5-6] which atomically update both Gen2/3
platforms and whose breakdown would not be easily possible.
The detailed list of Linux commits squashed into this U-Boot patch is
shown in [4]. The second column in [4] depicts the patch id mismatch
between the original Linux and the resulted U-Boot commit. The
exclamation mark means that manual conflict resolution was involved
during cherry picking Linux commit into U-Boot repository (this is
mainly caused by dropped changes in files like pfc-r8a7795-es1.c and
pfc-r8a77980.c which are missing in U-Boot).
This patch has been applied on top of v2019.07-rc4-155-g8754656680b6 and
boot-tested on:

- M3-ES1.1-Salvator-XS

The code responsible for setting proper values in the MUX registers
(in the mxs_pinctrl_set_state()) has been ported from Linux kernel
- SHA1: 17bb763e7eaf tag v5.1.11 from linux-stable.
As the pinctrl node in the imx28.dtsi file has gpio pins nodes as subnodes,
it was necessary to use 'dm_scan_fdt_dev()' (as a .bind method) to also
make them 'visible' by the DM's "gpio_mxs" driver.

The GXBB pinctrl is missing pins related to HDMI, namely hot plug
detection (hpd) and I2C (sda + scl).
This fixes HDMI support for GXBB in u-boot.

drive-strength-microamp is a new feature needed for G12A SoC.
the default DS setting after boot is usually 500uA and it is not enough for
many functions. We need to be able to set the drive strength to reliably
enable things like MMC, I2C, etc ...

The GPIO_TEST_N was in the wrong pmx group table, move it back with the AO
groups, GPIODV_18 was missing, add it back, and finally the GPIOCLK_*
group names were missing.

This commit is necessary to be able to re-use the pinctrl code in early
SPL to properly configure pins.
The problem is that those "static" structures (without explicit
initialization) are placed in the SDRAM area, which corresponds to
u-boot proper (not even SPL).
Hence, when one wants to configure pins before relocation via DTS/DM,
the board hangs (imx6q SoC powered one) as only OCRAM area is available
(0x009xxxxx).
This commit prevents from this issue by moving the imx6_pinctrl_soc_info
structure to data section (from BSS).
