We use 'priv' for private data but often use 'platdata' for platform data.
We can't really use 'pdata' since that is ambiguous (it could mean private

This construct is quite long-winded. In earlier days it made some sense
since auto-allocation was a strange concept. But with driver model now
used pretty universally, we can shorten this to 'auto'. This reduces
verbosity and makes it easier to read.
Coincidentally it also ensures that every declaration is on one line,
thus making dtoc's job easier.

This uclass is intended to provide a way to obtain information about a
U-Boot board. But the concept of a U-Boot 'board' is the whole system,
not just one circuit board, meaning that 'board' is something of a
misnomer for this uclass.
In addition, the name 'board' is a bit overused in U-Boot and we want to
use the same uclass to provide SMBIOS information.
The obvious name is 'system' but that is so vague as to be meaningless.
Use 'sysinfo' instead, since this uclass is aimed at providing information

With of-platdata, the devicetree is supposed to specify all the devices
in the system. So far this hasn't really mattered since of-platdata still
works correctly.
However, new of-platdata features rely on numbering the devices in a
particular order so that they can be referenced by a single integer. It is
tricky to implement this efficiently when other devices are present in the
build.
To address this, disable use of U_BOOT_DEVICE() when of-platdata is
enabled. This seems acceptable as it is not supposed to be used at all,
except in SPL/TPL, where of-platdata is the recommended approach.

At present we use a 'node' pointer in the of-platadata phandle_n_arg
structs. This is a pointer to the struct driver_info for a particular
device, and we can use it to obtain the struct udevice pointer itself.
Since we don't know the struct udevice pointer until it is allocated in
memory, we have to fix up the phandle_n_arg.node at runtime. This is
annoying since it requires that SPL's data is writable and adds a small
amount of extra (generated) code in the dm_populate_phandle_data()
function.
Now that we can find a driver_info by its index, it is easier to put the
index in the phandle_n_arg structures.
Update dtoc to do this, add a new device_get_by_driver_info_idx() to look
up a device by drive_info index and update the tests to match.
Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
At present of-platdata does not provide parent information. But this is
useful for I2C devices, for example, since it allows them to determine
which bus they are on.
Add support for setting the parent correctly, by storing the parent
driver_info index in dtoc and reading this in lists_bind_drivers(). This
needs multiple passes since we must process children after their parents
already have been bound.
Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
At present we update the driver_info struct with a pointer to the device
that it created (i.e. caused to be bound). This works fine when U-Boot SPL
is stored in read-write memory. But on some platforms, such as Intel
Apollo Lake, it is not possible to update the data memory.
In any case, it is bad form to put this information in a structure that is
in the data region, since it expands the size of the binary.
Create a new driver_rt structure which holds runtime information about
drivers. Update the code to store the device pointer in this instead.
Also update the test check that this works.

The pinmux property allows for smaller and more compact device trees,
especially when there are many pins which need to be assigned individually.
Instead of specifying an array of strings to be parsed as pins and a
function property, the pinmux property contains an array of integers
representing pinmux groups. A pinmux group consists of the pin identifier
and mux settings represented as a single integer or an array of integers.
Each individual pin controller driver specifies the exact format of a
pinmux group. As specified in the Linux documentation, a pinmux group may
be multiple integers long. However, no existing drivers use multi-integer
pinmux groups, so I have chosen to omit this feature. This makes the
implementation easier, since there is no need to allocate a buffer to do
endian conversions.
Support for the pinmux property is done differently than in Linux. As far
as I can tell, inversion of control is used when implementing support for
the pins and groups properties to avoid allocating. This results in some
duplication of effort; every property in a config node is parsed once for
each pin in that node. This is not such an overhead with pins and groups
properties, since having multiple pins in one config node does not occur
especially often. However, the semantics of the pinmux property make such a
configuration much more appealing. A future patch could parse all config
properties at once and store them in an array. This would make it easier to
create drivers which do not function solely as callbacks from
pinctrl-generic.
This commit increases the size of the sandbox build by approximately 48
bytes. However, it also decreases the size of the K210 device tree by 2
KiB from the previous version of this series.
The documentation has been updated from the last Linux commit before it was

This change introduces SCMI agent uclass to interact with a firmware
using the SCMI protocols [1].
SCMI agent uclass currently supports a single method to request
processing of the SCMI message by an identified server. A SCMI message
is made of a byte payload associated to a protocol ID and a message ID,
all defined by the SCMI specification [1]. On return from process_msg()
method, the caller gets the service response.
SCMI agent uclass defines a post bind generic sequence for all devices.
The sequence binds all the SCMI protocols listed in the FDT for that
SCMI agent device. Currently none, but later change will introduce
protocols.
This change implements a simple sandbox device for the SCMI agent uclass.
The sandbox nicely answers SCMI_NOT_SUPPORTED to SCMI messages.
To prepare for further test support, the sandbox exposes a architecture
function for test application to read the sandbox emulated devices state.
Currently supports 2 SCMI agents, identified by an ID in the FDT device
name. The simplistic DM test does nothing yet.
SCMI agent uclass is designed for platforms that embed a SCMI server in
a firmware hosted somewhere, for example in a companion co-processor or
in the secure world of the executing processor. SCMI protocols allow an
SCMI agent to discover and access external resources as clock, reset
controllers and more. SCMI agent and server communicate following the
SCMI specification [1]. This SCMI agent implementation complies with
the DT bindings defined in the Linux kernel source tree regarding
SCMI agent description since v5.8.

For dual ethernet controllers, the HW design may connect ETH phys to
one MDIO ports. So two different ethernet drivers have to share MDIO bus.
Since two ethernet drivers are independent, we can't ensure their probe
order.
To resolve this problem, introduce an eth phy generic driver and uclass.
After eth-uclass binds, we search the mdio node and binds the phy node
with the eth-phy-generic driver.
When one eth driver get its phy device, the parent of phy device will
probe prior than phy device. So this ensure the eth driver ownes the

Sandbox pci works using emulation drivers which are currently children of
the pci device:
pci-controller {
pci@1f,0 {
compatible = "pci-generic";
reg = <0xf800 0 0 0 0>;
emul@1f,0 {
compatible = "sandbox,swap-case";
};
};
};
In this case the emulation device is attached to pci device on address
f800 (device 1f, function 0) and provides the swap-case functionality.
However this is not ideal, since every device on a PCI bus has a child
device. This is only really the case for sandbox, but we want to avoid
special-case code for sandbox.
Worse, child devices cannot be probed before their parents. This forces
us to use 'find' rather than 'get' to obtain the emulator device. In fact
the emulator devices are never probed. There is code in
sandbox_pci_emul_post_probe() which tries to track when emulators are
active, but at present this does not work.
A better approach seems to be to add a separate node elsewhere in the
device tree, an 'emulation parent'. This could be given a bogus address
(such as -1) to hide the emulators away from the 'pci' command, but it
seems better to keep it at the root node to avoid such hacks.
Then we can use a phandle to point from the device to the correct
emulator, and only on sandbox. The code to find an emulator does not
interfere with normal pci operation.
Add a new UCLASS_PCI_EMUL_PARENT uclass which allows finding an emulator
given a bus, and finding a bus given an emulator. Update the existing
device trees and the code for finding an emulator.
This brings PCI emulators more into line with I2C.

Testing has shown that the current DM implementation of a platform /
board specific translation offset, as its needed for the SPL on MVEBU
platforms is buggy. The translation offset is confingured too late,
after the driver bind functions are run. This may result in incorrect
address translations. With the current implementation its not possible
to configure the offset earlier, as the DM code has not run at all.
This patch now removed the set_/get_translation_offset() calls and
moves the translation offset into the GD variable translation_offset.
This variable will get used when CONFIG_TRANSLATION_OFFSET is enabled.
This option is enabled only for MVEBU on ARM32 platforms, where its
currenty needed and configured in the SPL.

- init DRAM for RK322x in SPL
- add FAN53555 PMIC/regulator driver
- update MicroCrystal RV3029 driver to Kconfig and sync from Linux
- add bootcount uclass and first DM-driver for bootcount
The original bootcount methods do not provide an interface to DM and
rely on a static configuration for I2C devices (e.g. bus, chip-addr,
etc. are configured through defines statically). On a modern system
that exposes multiple devices in a DTS-configurable way, this is less
than optimal and a interface to DM-based devices will be desirable.
This adds a simple driver that is DM-aware and configurable via DTS.
If ambiguous (i.e. multiple bootcount-devices are present) the
/chosen/u-boot,bootcount-device property can be used to select one
bootcount device.
Initially, this provides support for the following DM devices:
* RTC devices

Sandbox i2c works using emulation drivers which are currently children of
the i2c device:
rtc_0: rtc@43 {
reg = <0x43>;
compatible = "sandbox-rtc";
emul {
compatible = "sandbox,i2c-rtc";
};
};
In this case the emulation device is attached to i2c bus on address 0x43
and provides the Real-Time-Clock (RTC) functionality.
However this is not ideal, since every device on an I2C bus has a child
device. This is only really the case for sandbox, but we want to avoid
special-case code for sandbox.
A better approach seems to be to add a separate node on the bus, an
'emulation parent'. This can be given a bogus address (such as 0xff) and
hides all the emulators away. Then we can use a phandle to point from the
device to the correct emualtor, and only on sandbox. The code to find an
emulator does not interfere with normal i2c operation.
Add a new UCLASS_I2C_EMUL_PARENT uclass which allows finding an emulator
given a bus, and finding a bus given an emulator. This will be used in a
follow-on patch.

Commit 286ede6 ("drivers: core: Add translation in live tree case") made
dev_get_addr always use proper bus translations for addresses read from
the device tree. But this leads to problems with certain busses, e.g.
I2C busses, which run into an error during translation, and hence stop
working.
It turns out that of_translate_address() and fdt_translate_address()
stop the address translation with an error when they're asked to
translate addresses for busses where #size-cells == 0 (comment from
drivers/core/of_addr.c):
* Note: We consider that crossing any level with #size-cells == 0 to mean
* that translation is impossible (that is we are not dealing with a value
* that can be mapped to a cpu physical address). This is not really specified
* that way, but this is traditionally the way IBM at least do things
To fix this case, we check in both the live-tree and non-live tree-case,
whether the bus of the device whose address is about to be translated
has size-cell size zero. If this is the case, we just read the address
as a plain integer and return it, and only apply bus translations if the
size-cell size if greater than zero.

The Rockchip video drivers need to walk the ofnode-parrents to find
an enclosing device that has a UCLASS_DISPLAY driver bound. This
adds a ofnode_get_parent()-function that returns the parent-node.

Each uclass has a driver name which we can use to look up the uclass. This
is useful for logging, where the uclass ID is used as the category.
Add a function to handle this, as well as a test.

This patch provides
* a uclass for EFI drivers
* a EFI driver for block devices
For each EFI driver the uclass
* creates a handle
* adds the driver binding protocol
The uclass provides the bind, start, and stop entry points for the driver
binding protocol.
In bind() and stop() it checks if the controller implements the protocol
supported by the EFI driver. In the start() function it calls the bind()
function of the EFI driver. In the stop() function it destroys the child
controllers.
The EFI block driver binds to controllers implementing the block io
protocol.
When the bind function of the EFI block driver is called it creates a
new U-Boot block device. It installs child handles for all partitions and
installs the simple file protocol on these.
The read and write functions of the EFI block driver delegate calls to the
controller that it is bound to.
A usage example is as following:
U-Boot loads the iPXE snp.efi executable. iPXE connects an iSCSI drive and
exposes a handle with the block IO protocol. It calls ConnectController.
Now the EFI block driver installs the partitions with the simple file
protocol.
iPXE uses the simple file protocol to load Grub or the Linux Kernel.

dev_read_u32_default() always returns something even when the property
is missing. So, it is impossible to do nothing in the case. One
solution is to use ofnode_read_u32() instead, but adding dev_read_u32()
will be helpful.
BTW, Linux has an equvalent function, device_property_read_u32();
it is clearer that it reads a property. I cannot understand the
behavior of dev_read_u32() from its name.

As we discussed before in ML, dm_dbg() causes undefined reference
error if #define DEBUG is added to users, but not drivers/core/util.c
We do not need this macro because we can use pr_debug() instead, and
it is pretty easy to enable it for the DM core by using ccflags-y.

Many drivers had started to use dev_err, dev_info, etc. for log
functions. Currently, we are relying on <linux/compat.h>, but I
guess the best home is <dm/device.h>, taking into account that
Linux defines them in <linux/device.h>.
For now, I am leaving the ones in <linux/compat.h> because lots of
Linux-originated code uses dev_*(), but the first argument is not
struct udevice, so we need to ignore the bogus argument. More
efforts are needed to iron out the issues.

This constraint has been invoked here [1].
This patch offers a solution to avoid adding "simple-bus" compatible
string to nodes that are not busses.
