According to eMMC specification v5.1 section 6.4.3, we should issue
CMD1 repeatedly in the idle state until the eMMC is ready even if
mmc_send_op_cond() send CMD1 with argument = 0. Otherwise some eMMC
devices seems to enter the inactive mode after mmc_complete_op_cond()
issued CMD0 when the eMMC device is busy.

In current code, we add 1ms dealy after each tuning command for standard
tuning method. Adding this 1ms dealy is because USDHC default check the
CMD CRC and DATA line. If detect the CMD CRC, USDHC standard tuning
IC logic do not wait for the tuning data sending out by the card, trigger
the buffer read ready interrupt immediately, and step to next cycle. So
when next time the new tuning command send out by USDHC, card may still
not send out the tuning data of the upper command,then some eMMC cards
may stuck, can't response to any command, block the whole tuning procedure.
If do not check the CMD CRC for tuning, then do not has this issue. USDHC
will wait for the tuning data of each tuning command and check them. If the
tuning data pass the check, it also means the CMD line also okay for tuning.
So this patch disable the CMD CRC check for tuning, save some time for the
whole tuning procedure.

Unsupported voltage on voltage switch is not an error, do not
print error message in such a case. This happens e.g. if the
eMMC is already in 1V8 mode or when testing 1V2 mode operation
on systems which only do 3V3/1V8 switching.

The 3V3/1V8 switching could never have worked on any of the iMXes
ever since 51313b49f2 ("mmc: fsl_esdhc: support SDR104 and HS200"),
because that commit uses priv->vqmmc_dev when switching voltages on
mode switch, while local vqmmc_dev in probe to store the regulator
pointer. Those are two different variables with the same name. So
the priv->vqmmc_dev was always NULL and thus voltage switch between
modes never really suceeded.
Fix this by assigning priv->vqmmc_dev with value of the vqmmc_dev
in probe.

When eSDHC operates at 3.3v, damage can accumulate in an internal
level shifter at a higher than expected rate. The faster the interface
runs, the more damage accumulates. This issue now is found on LX2160A
eSDHC1 for only SD card.
The hardware workaround is recommended to use an on-board level shifter
that is 1.8v on SoC side and 3.3v on SD card side.
For boards without hardware workaround, this option could be enabled,
ensuring 1.8v IO voltage and disabling eSDHC if no card.
This option assumes no hotplug, and u-boot has to make all the way to
to linux to use 1.8v UHS-I speed mode if has card.
If you do not want the workaround for better user experience, of course
you can choose to not select it running eSDHC in unsafe mode.

Cleanup this driver to use dt in U-boot and static platdata in SPL.
This requires the following steps:
1. Move all platdata assignment from probe() to ofdata_to_platdata().
This function is only called in U-boot.
2. Replicate all the platdata assignment being done in
ofdata_to_platdata() in the omapl138 board file. This data is used in
the SPL case where SPL_OF_CONTROL is not enabled.
3. Remove SPL_OF_CONTROL and related configs from omapl138_lcdk_defconfig

Change the mmc displayed name in U-Boot for stm32_sdmmc2 driver to
“STM32 SD/MMC”.
This stm32_sdmmc2 driver is for version 2 of the ST HW IP SDMMC but the
displayed name "STM32 SDMMC2" is confusing for user, between the
instance of SDMMC and the device identifier of MMC.

If CONFIG_MMC_SDHCI_SDMA is enabled but the HW could not support it,
we no longer error out. Instead we do not enable it in the host.

Currently, the entry "bus-width = <8>" in the ZynqMP's sdhci nodes
is not evaluated. This results in the bus width staying at its default
value (4 bit in HS200 mode).
Fix this by calling mmc_of_parse. This function also checks for the
"no-1-8-v" and "max-frequency" entries. Remove the handling of those
nodes from this driver.

Implement get_b_max() for the Renesas R-Car SDHI controller driver, limit
the b_max per hardware capabilities such that select Gen2 controllers have
16bit block transfer limit, the rest has 32bit block transfer limit and on
Gen3, the block transfer limit on addresses above the 32bit boundary is set
to 1/4 of the malloc area.
Originally, on Gen3, the block transfers above the 32bit area were limited
to PIO only, which resulted in (R8A7795 Salvator-X , HS200 eMMC):

with bounce buffer in place and b_max adjustment in place:

Note that the bounce buffer does mallocate and free the bounce buffer
for every transfer. Experiment which removes this results in further
increase of read speed, from 2.349s to 2.156s per 512 MiB of data,
which is not such a significant improvement anymore. It might however
be interesting to have bounce buffer directly in the MMC core or even
block core.

Add getter function which permits adjusting the maximum number of
blocks that could be read in a single sustained read transfer based
on the location of the source/target buffer and length, before such
transfer starts.
This is mainly useful on systems which have various DMA restrictions
for different memory locations, e.g. DMA limited to 32bit addresses,
and where a bounce buffer is used to work around such restrictions.
Since the U-Boot bounce buffer is mallocated, it's size is limited
by the malloc area size, and the read transfer to such a buffer must
also be limited. However, as not all areas are limited equally, the
b_max should be adjusted accordinly as needed to avoid degrading
performance unnecessarily.

The B_PWR_WP_EN bit in the extended CSD register BOOT_WP is set. The boot

In R-Car Gen 3, there is a DMA controller restriction of SDHI.
When the transfer exceeding the 4 kByte boundary is performed while
the DRAM address is not 128 byte aligned, the bus is occupied.
This patch avoids this.

Until now, the mmc clock was left in a good enough state by the ROM
code to be used by the controller. However on some SoC, if the ROM
code finds a bootloader on USB or SPI, it might leave the MMC clock
in state the controller cannot work with.
Enable the input clocks provided to the mmc controller. While the
u-boot mmc controller driver is not doing fancy settings like the Linux,
it at least needs to make these clocks are running.

According to the HW team, for some reason the normal clock select code
picks what appears to be a perfectly valid 375KHz SD card clock, based
on the CAR clock source and SDMMC1 controller register settings (CAR =
408MHz PLLP0 divided by 68 for 6MHz, then a SD Clock Control register
divisor of 16 = 375KHz). But the resulting SD card clock, as measured by
the HW team, is 700KHz, which is out-of-spec. So the WAR is to use the
values given in the TRM PLLP table to generate a 400KHz SD-clock (CAR
clock of 24.7MHz, SD Clock Control divisor of 62) only for SDMMC1 on
T210 when the requested clock is <= 400KHz. Note that as far as I can
tell, the other requests for clocks in the Tegra MMC driver result in
valid SD clocks.

As per the T210 TRM, when running at 3.3v, the SDMMC1 tap/trim and
autocal values need to be set to condition the signals correctly before
talking to the SD-card. This is the same as what's being done in CBoot,
but it gets reset when the SDMMC1 HW is soft-reset during SD driver
init, so needs to be repeated here. Also set autocal and tap/trim for
SDMMC3, although no T210 boards use it for SD-card at this time.

The 4 bit MMC controllers have an internal debounce for the SDCD line
with a debounce delay of 1 second. Therefore, after clocks to the IP are
enabled, software has to wait for this time before it can power on the
controller.
Add a deferred_probe() callback which polls on sdcd for a maximum of 2 seconds
before switching on power to the controller or (in the case of no card)
returning a ENOMEDIUM. This pushes the 1 second wait time to when the
card is actually needed rather than at every probe() making sure that
users who don't insert an SD card in the slot don't have to wait such a
long time.

This driver currently performs cache operation before the DMA start,
but does nothing after the DMA completion.
When reading data by DMA, the cache invalidation is needed also after
finishing the DMA transfer. Otherwise, the CPU might read data from
the cache instead of from the main memory when speculative memory read
or memory prefetch occurs.
Instead of calling the cache operation directly, this commit adds
dma_unmap_single(), which performs cache invalidation internally,
but drivers do not need which operation is being run.

Currently, sdhci_prepare_dma() calls flush_cache() regardless of the
DMA direction.
Actually, cache invalidation is enough when reading data from the device.
This is correctly handled by dma_map_single(), which mimics the DMA-API
in Linux kernel. Drivers can be agnostic which cache operation occurs
behind the scene.
This commit also sanitizes the difference between the virtual address
and the dma address.

The implementation of dma_map_single() and dma_unmap_single() is
exactly the same for all the architectures that support them.
Factor them out to <linux/dma-mapping.h>, and make all drivers to
include <linux/dma-mapping.h> instead of <asm/dma-mapping.h>.
If we need to differentiate them for some architectures, we can
move the generic definitions to <asm-generic/dma-mapping.h>.
Add some comments to the helpers. The concept is quite similar to
the DMA-API of Linux kernel. Drivers are agnostic about what is
going on behind the scene. Just call dma_map_single() before the
DMA, and dma_unmap_single() after it.

The reference manuals for MPC8308 and MPC8309 both say that the
esdhcctl aka DMA Control Register "is implemented as SDHCCR" in the
System configuration registers. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that
the registers are just mirrors of each other - any write to esdhcctl
is simply ignored. So to actually enable cache snooping, we
unfortunately have to add a little ifdeffery.
There is, naturally, no description of the bit fields of esdhcctl in
the MPC8309 manual, but comparing the description of esdhcctl from the
LS1021A reference manual to the description of the sdhccr in MPC8309,
one also finds that the fields are bit-reversed, so the bit to set is
0x02000000 rather than 0x00000040 - this is also what board_mmc_init()
uses in the two gdsys/mpc8308/ boards.

At present dm/device.h includes the linux-compatible features. This

One of these is malloc.h which we thus end up including in every file in
U-Boot. Apart from the inefficiency of this, it is problematic for sandbox
which needs to use the system malloc() in some files.
Move the compatibility features into a separate header file.

At present devres.h is included in all files that include dm.h but few
make use of it. Also this pulls in linux/compat which adds several more
headers. Drop the automatic inclusion and require files to include devres
themselves. This provides a good indication of which files use devres.

Add Support for writing to PHY registers for J721e. There are number of
differences between the J721e 8 bit PHY, J721e 4 bit PHY and AM654 PHY.
Create a driver_data structure with an ops and flags field and use the
flags field to indicate these differences. The differences are as
follows:
1. The J721e 4 bit instance PHY does not have a DLL. Introduce a
DLL_PRESENT flag to make sure that DLL related registers are accessed
only where they are present. Also add a separate set_ios_post()
callback.
2. The J721e 8 bit instance is not muxed with anything else inside the
SoC and hence the IOMUX_ENABLE filed does not exist. Add a flag which is
used to indicate the presence of this field.
3. The register field used to select DLL frequency is 3 bit wide in
J721e as compared to 2 bits in AM65x. Add another flag that
distinguishes these fields.
4. The strobe select field is 8 bit wide as compared to 4 bit wide for
AM65x. Add yet another flag to indicate this difference. Strobe select
is used only for HS400 speed mode, support for which has not been added
in AM65x.

For CMD21 tuning data, the 128/64 bytes data may coming in very
short time, before msdc_start_data(), the read data has already
come, in this case, clear MSDC_INT will cause the interrupt disappear
and lead to the thread hang.
the solution is just clear all interrupts before command was sent.

It was observed (on ClearFog Base) that sending MMC APP_CMD returned
an error on the first attempt. The issue appears to be timing related
since even inserting a puts() short debug entry before the execution
added sufficient delay to receive success on first attempt.
Follow the existing quirks pattern to retry if initial issuance
failed so as to not introduce any delay unless needed.

The eSDHC reference clocks should be provided by speed.c in arch/.
And we do not need CONFIG_FSL_ESDHC_USE_PERIPHERAL_CLK option to
select which clock to use. Because we can make the driver to select
the periperhal clock which is better (provides higher frequency)
automatically if its value is provided by speed.c.
This patch is to drop this option and make driver to select clock
automatically. Also fix peripheral clock calculation issue in
fsl_lsch2_speed.c/fsl_lsch3_speed.c.

When no GPIO is used to read the card detect status the following
error is seen:
MMC: FSL_SDHC: 0, FSL_SDHC: 1
Loading Environment from MMC... MMC: no card present
*** Warning - No block device, using default environment
Fix it by handling the "broken-cd" property in the same way
that drivers/mmc/sdhci.c does, which considers that the SD card
is present when the "broken-cd" property is passed.

At present if CONFIG_SPL_GPIO_SUPPORT is enabled then the GPIO uclass
is included in SPL/TPL without any control for boards. Some boards may
want to disable this to reduce code size where GPIOs are not needed in
SPL or TPL.
Add a new Kconfig option to permit this. Default it to 'y' so that
existing boards work correctly.
Change existing uses of CONFIG_DM_GPIO to CONFIG_IS_ENABLED(DM_GPIO) to
preserve the current behaviour. Also update the 74x164 GPIO driver since
it cannot build with SPL.
This allows us to remove the hacks in config_uncmd_spl.h and
Makefile.uncmd_spl (eventually those files should be removed).

The MMC boot is currently broken on omapl138-lcdk after enabling the
driver model in SPL. The main problem is the driver's bind callback not
being called after probe in SPL (even with the DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag
specified).
While a proper fix is still being worked on, this hacky changeset at
least fixes the MMC boot on this platform by calling mmc_bind()
manually from probe().

Rockchips dwmmc controllers can't do dma to non-ddr addresses,
like for example the soc-internal sram but during boot parts of
TrustedFirmware need to be placed there from the read FIT image.
So add handling for a u-boot,spl-fifo-mode to not put the mmc
controllers into fifo mode for all time.
The regular fifo-mode property still takes precedent and only
if not set do we check for the spl-specific property.

During mmc initialization, there are several calls to mmc_set_clock
and mmc_set_ios. When mmc_power_off, the mmc->clock will be set,
but the imx driver will use 400KHz. So the following calls
to mmc_set_ios will set the clock several times which is redundant
in fsl_esdhc_imx driver. So let's simplify to remove redundant
clock settings.

This patch is to clean up bus width setting code.
- For DM_MMC, remove getting "bus-width" from device tree.
This has been done in mmc_of_parse().
- For non-DM_MMC, move bus width configuration from fsl_esdhc_init()
to fsl_esdhc_initialize() which is non-DM_MMC specific.
And fix up bus width configuration to support only 1-bit, 4-bit,
or 8-bit. Keep using 8-bit if it's not set because many platforms
use driver without providing max bus width.
- Remove bus_width member from fsl_esdhc_priv structure.

A previous patch below adding DDR mode support was actually for i.MX
platforms. Now i.MX eSDHC driver is fsl_esdhc_imx.c. For QorIQ eSDHC,
it uses different process for DDR mode, and hasn't been supported.
Let's drop DDR support code for i.MX in fsl_esdhc driver.

Some MMC peripherals require specific power cycle sequence, where some
registers need to be written between the regulator is turned off and then
back on. This is the case for the MMC IP embedded in STM32MP1 SoC.
In STM32MP157 reference manual [1], the power cycle sequence is:
1. Reset the SDMMC with the RCC.SDMMCxRST register bit. This will reset
the SDMMC to the reset state and the CPSM and DPSM to the Idle state.
2. Disable the Vcc power to the card.
3. Set the SDMMC in power-cycle state. This will make that the
SDMMC_D[7:0], SDMMC_CMD and SDMMC_CK are driven low, to prevent the card
from being supplied through the signal lines.
4. After minimum 1ms enable the Vcc power to the card.
5. After the power ramp period set the SDMMC to the power-off state for
minimum 1ms. The SDMMC_D[7:0], SDMMC_CMD and SDMMC_CK are set to
drive “1”.
6. After the 1ms delay set the SDMMC to power-on state in which the
SDMMC_CK clock will be enabled.
7. After 74 SDMMC_CK cycles the first command can be sent to the card.
The step 3. cannot be handled by the current framework implementation.
A new callback (host_power_cycle) is created, and called in
mmc_power_cycle(), after mmc_power_off().
The incorrect power cycle sequence has shown some boot failures on
STM32MP1 with some SD-cards, especially on cold boots when the input
frequency is low (<= 25MHz).
Those failures are no more seen with this correct power cycle sequence.

In SPL, all the available mmc devices gets initialized during boot.
This might not work in cases where clocks are not available for
certain mmc devices(other than boot device) and the support for
enabling device might not be ready.
Texas Instruments' K3 J721E device having a central system controller
(dmsc) is one such example falling in this category. Below is the
sequence for the failing scenario:
- ROM comes up in SD mode and loads SPL by just initialing SD card.
- SPL loads dmsc firmware from SD Card.
Since ROM has enabled SD, SPL need not enable the SD, just need
to re initialize the card. But SPL is trying to initialize other MMC
instances which are in disabled state. Since dmsc firmware is not yet
available, devices cannot be enabled. So in SPL, initialize only the
mmc device that is needed.

This change replaces printf() with debug() for the notification about
commands timeouts.
This is done on purpose (also other drivers use such approach - dw_mmc.c,
mvebu_mmc.c), as the mmc core code (mmc.c) uses timeouts to assess if one
is using sd card or eMMC device.
In such situation timeout is a some kind of a "normal" behavior and there
shall not be any output to the console.
There is no impact on boot time for boards using this driver (even in SPL)
when two extra timeouts are returned (no SD card present, only eMMC
available).
Boot time tested with grabserial:
sudo grabserial -b 115200 -d /dev/ttyUSB1 -e 30 -t -m "^U-Boot SPL*"

At present there is only one control for this and it is used for both SPL
and TPL. But SPL might have a lot more space than TPL so the extra cost of
a full printf() might be acceptable.
Split the option into two, providing separate SPL and TPL controls. The
TPL setting defaults to the same as SPL.

NXP fsl_esdhc controller supports two reference clocks:
platform clock and peripheral clock
Peripheral clock can provide higher clock frequency
which is required to be used for tuning of SD UHS mode
and eMMC HS200/HS400 modes.
Peripheral clock is enabled by default by defining config
option FSL_ESDHC_USE_PERIPHERAL_CLK if eMMC HS200/HS400 modes
are supported.

Function bcm_2835_wait_transfer_complete() is not waiting long enough.
The previous code was claiming to wait for ~1 seconds, but as it depends
on register reads it's time actually varies.
Some cards require wait times of up to ~56 ms to perform
the command 'saveenv' on an EXT4 partition.
Re-implement the loop exit condition to use get_timer() which allows
to specify the wait time in more reliable manner. Set the maximum wait
time to the originally intended 1 second.

The sdhci capabilities registers can be incorrect. The
sdhci-caps-mask and sdhci-caps dt properties specify which bits of
the registers are incorrect and what their values should be. This
patch makes the sdhci driver use those properties to correct the caps.
Also use "dev_read_u64_default" instead of "dev_read_u32_array" for
caps mask.

There are two cases not been considered:
- use uint for timeout, it will overflow when size bigger than 512KB for
it *8*1000 at the beginning, but we may use size up to 32MB; The
'timeout' will overflow if size bigger than 51.2MB after this fix, which
should be enough for U-Boot;
- The timeout is using clock speed for data rate, but the device may not
have such high speed, eg. clock is 52MHz while the device write speed may
be less than 10MB/s, and we may use up to 150MHz clock.
Fix them in this patch, the max timeout is about 6500 when size is 32MB
after fix.

It's quite hard to figure out time units for various function that have
timeout parameters. This leads to possible errors when one forgets to
convert ms to us, for example. Let's rename those parameters
correspondingly to 'timeout_us' and 'timeout_ms' to prevent such issues
further.
While at it, add time units info as comments to struct mmc fields.
This commit doesn't change the behavior, only renames parameters names.
Buildman should report no changes at all.

mmc_wait_dat0() expects timeout argument to be in usec units. But some
overlying functions operate on timeout in msec units. Convert timeout
from msec to usec when passing it to mmc_wait_dat0().
This fixes 'avb' commands on BeagleBoard X15, because next chain was
failing:
get_partition() -> mmc_switch_part() -> __mmc_switch() ->
mmc_wait_dat0()
when passing incorrect timeout from __mmc_switch() to mmc_wait_dat0().

eMMC device has multiple hw partitions both address from zero. However the
mmc driver lacks block cache invalidation for switch hwpart. This causes a
problem that data of current hw partition is cached before switching to
another hw partition. And the following read operation of the latter hw
partition will get wrong data when reading from the addresses that have
been cached previously.
To solve this problem, invalidate block cache after a successful
mmc_switch_part() operation.

This is a configuration option specific to the tegra controller.
Doing it this way makes it show up directly under the tegra controller
option, indented one level, as "Disable external clock loopback".
The way it is now, it shows up at the end of the controller list, not
indented, as if it's some kind of generic MMC configuration option.

When reading large data in once (reading 512MiB is tested on MT7623), a
watchdog timeout is triggered due to watchdog not being fed.
This patch adds WATCHDOG_RESET() to msdc_start_data() so the watchdog will
be fed every 1024 blocks are read/written.

The j721e 4 bit instances don't have a hard DLL and therefore don't need
any DLL related configurations. Split the compatibles into an 8 bit and a
4 bit one. Add a private flags field which can be used to check if the
DLL is present and don't register the set_ios_post callback for the 4 bit
compatible instances.
Also update the compatibles in k3-j721e-main.dtsi to avoid breaking boot
with the new compatibles.

Most DM based SPI host controller drivers use SPI_XFER_BEGIN and
SPI_XFER_END flags to enable/disable slave chip select.
This patch extends MMC SPI driver to pass SPI_XFER_BEGIN flag when
MMC command is send at start and pass SPI_XFER_END flag using a
dummy transfer (of bitlen = 0) at the end of MMC command.

Sync the sdhci0 node from kernel. This changes the compatible that is
required to be there in the driver. Change the same for the SD card node
which is not yet supported in kernel. This also syncs the main_pmx0 node
as a side effect.

eMMC 5.1+ supports HS400 Enhances Strobe mode without the need for
tuning procedure.
The flow is as following:
- set HS_TIMIMG (Highspeed)
- Host change freq to <= 52Mhz
- set the bus width to Enhanced strobe and DDR8Bit(CMD6),
EXT_CSD[183] = 0x86 instead of 0x80
- set HS_TIMING to 0x3 (HS400)
- Host change freq to <= 200Mhz
- Host select HS400 enhanced strobe complete

Accessing the boot partition had been error prone with HS200 and HS400 and
was disabled. The driver first switched to a lesser mode and then switched
the partition access. It was mostly due to a bad handling of the switch and
has been fixed, so let's remove this 'feature'

The switch operation can sometimes make the bus unreliable, in that case
the send_status parameter should be false to indicate not to poll using
CMD13. If polling on dat0 is possible, we should use it to detect the end
of the operation.
At the end of the operation it is safe to use CMD13 to get the status of
the card. It is important to do so because the operation may have failed.

The e-MMC spec allows the e-MMC to specify a timeout for the partition
switch command. It can take up to 2550 ms. There is no lower limit to this
value in the spec, but do as the the linux driver does and force it to be
at least 300ms.

Starting with rev 4.5, the eMMC can define a generic timeout for the
SWITCH command.
Following Linux Kernel code, the timeout also changed from 1000 -> 500
