Detect the board revision early during boot, and print the decoded
model name.
Eventually, this information can be used for tasks such as:
- Allowing/preventing USB device mode; some models have a USB device on-
board so only host mode makes sense. Others connect the SoC directly
to the USB connector, so device-mode might make sense.
- The on-board USB hub/Ethernet requires different GPIOs to enable it,
although luckily the default appears to be fine so far.
- The compute module contains an on-board eMMC device, so we could store
the environment there. Other models use an SD card and so don't support
saving the environment (unless we store it in a file on the FAT boot
partition...)
Set $fdtfile based on this information. At present, the mainline Linux
kernel doesn't contain a separate DTB for most models, but I hope that
will change soon.

Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) is a generic name for a wide range
of video devices. Add code to set up the hardware on ivybridge. Part of the
init happens in native code, part of it happens in a 16-bit option ROM for
those nostalgic for the 1970s.
Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
Some platforms don't have native code for dealing with their video
hardware. In some cases they use a binary blob to set it up and perform
required actions like setting the video mode. This approach is a hangover
from the old PC days where a ROM was provided and executed during startup.
Even now, these ROMs are supplied as a way to set up video. It avoids the
code for every video chip needing to be provided in the boot loader. But
it makes the video much less flexible - e.g. it is not possible to do
anything else while the video init is happening (including waiting hundreds
of milliseconds for display panels to start up).
In any case, to deal with this sad state of affairs, provide an API for
execution of x86 video ROMs, either natively or through emulation.

When enumerating devices, honour the pci_skip_dev() function. This can
be used by PCI controller drivers to restrict which devices will be
probed.
This is required by the NVIDIA Tegra PCIe controller driver, which will
fail with a data abort exception if an access is attempted to a device
number larger than 0 outside of bus 0. pci_skip_dev() is therefore
implemented to prevent any such accesses.

U-Boot has never cared about the type when we get max/min of two
values, but Linux Kernel does. This commit gets min, max, min3, max3
macros synced with the kernel introducing type checks.
Many of references of those macros must be fixed to suppress warnings.
We have two options:
- Use min, max, min3, max3 only when the arguments have the same type
(or add casts to the arguments)
- Use min_t/max_t instead with the appropriate type for the first
argument

The simple malloc() implementation is used when memory is tight. It provides
a simple buffer with an incrementing pointer.
At present the implementation is inside dlmalloc. Move it into its own file
so that it is easier to find.
Rather than using relocation as a signal that the full malloc() is
available, add a special GD_FLG_FULL_MALLOC_INIT flag. This signals that the
simple malloc() should no longer be used.
In some cases, such as SPL, even the code space used by the full malloc() is
wasteful. Add a CONFIG_SYS_MALLOC_SIMPLE option to provide only the simple
malloc. In this case the full malloc is not available at all. It saves about
1KB of code space and about 0.5KB of data on Thumb 2.

Implement SDRAM init using the Memory Reference Code (mrc.bin) provided in
the board directory and the SDRAM SPD information in the device tree. This
also needs the Intel Management Engine (me.bin) to work. Binary blobs
everywhere: so far we have MRC, ME and microcode.
SDRAM init works by setting up various parameters and calling the MRC. This
in turn does some sort of magic to work out how much memory there is and
the timing parameters to use. It also sets up the DRAM controllers. When
the MRC returns, we use the information it provides to map out the
available memory in U-Boot.
U-Boot normally moves itself to the top of RAM. On x86 the RAM is not
generally contiguous, and anyway some RAM may be above 4GB which doesn't
work in 32-bit mode. So we relocate to the top of the largest block of
RAM we can find below 4GB. Memory above 4GB is accessible with special
functions (see physmem).
It would be possible to build U-Boot in 64-bit mode but this wouldn't
necessarily provide any more memory, since the largest block is often below
4GB. Anyway U-Boot doesn't need huge amounts of memory - even a very large
ramdisk seldom exceeds 100-200MB. U-Boot has support for booting 64-bit
kernels directly so this does not pose a limitation in that area. Also there
are probably parts of U-Boot that will not work correctly in 64-bit mode.
The MRC is one.
There is some work remaining in this area. Since memory init is very slow
(over 500ms) it is possible to save the parameters in SPI flash to speed it
up next time. Suspend/resume support is not fully implemented, or at least
it is not efficient.
With this patch, link boots to a prompt.
Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
On x86 machines U-Boot needs to be added to a large ROM image which is
then flashed onto the target board. The ROM has a particular format so it
makes sense for U-Boot to build this image automatically. Unfortunately
it relies on binary blobs so we cannot require this for the default
build as yet.
Create a u-boot.rom output file for this purpose.

Add pinmux settings, implement board_ehci_hcd_init, board_usb_phy_mode
There are two usb port on mx6slevk board:

2. host port
The following are the connection between usb controller and board usb
interface, host port has not ID pin set:

otg2 core <---> board host port
In order to make host port work, board_usb_phy_mode return USB_INIT_HOST

usb_phy_enable should return status bit, but not phy mode bit, thus
add a new function usb_phy_mode to query the PHY for it's mode and
make usb_phy_enable just return 0 but not 'phy_ctrl & USBPHY_CTRL_OTG_ID'.
Include a new board weak function board_usb_phy_mode. If board code
does not reimplement this function, it just call usb_phy_mode and return
usb_phy_mode's return value. The reason to include such a weak function
is: " SOC OTG core <--connect--> board HOST port, but no pin id for
the board host port, so board can not use usb_phy_mode to return the
phy mode, but define it's own rule."

This patch includes the latest DT sources for socfpga from the current
Linux kernel. And enables CONFIG_OF_CONTROL for the new build target
"socfpga_socrates" (the EBV SoCrates board) to make use of this new DT
support.
Until this patch, the only SoCFPGA U-Boot target in mainline is
"socfpga_cyclone5". This build target is not (yet) changed to support
DT. So nothing changes for this target. Even though the long-term
goal should be to move all SoCFPGA targets over to DT.
One of the reasons to enable DT support in SoCFPGA is, that I need to
support multiple different SPI controllers for this platform. This is
the QSPI Cadence controller and the Designware SPI master controller.
Both are implemented in the SoCFPGA. And enabling both controllers is
only possible by using the new driver model (DM). The DM SPI code
only supports DT based probing. So it was easier to move SoCFPGA to
DT than to add the (deprecated) platform-data based probing to the
DM SPI suport.
Note that the image with the dtb embedded is u-boot-dtb.img. This needs
to be used now for those DT enabled boards instead of u-boot.img.

Currently to customize env for various ks2 boards, individual

board specific variables in individual board specific config.h

The run command treats each argument an an environment variable. It gets the
value of each variable and executes it as a command. If an environment
variable contains a newline and the hush cli is used, it is supposed to
execute each line one after the other.
Normally a newline signals to hush to exit - this is used in normal command
line entry - after a command is entered we want to return to allow the user
to enter the next one. But environment variables obviously need to execute
to completion.
Add a special case for the execution of environment variables which
continues when a newline is seen, and add a few tests to check this
behaviour.
Note: it's not impossible that this may cause regressions in other areas.
I can't think of a case but with any change of behaviour with limited test
coverage there is always a risk. From what I can tell this behaviour has
been around since at least U-Boot 2011.03, although this pre-dates sandbox
and I have not tested it on real hardware.

The keystone_nav driver is general driver intended to be used for
working with queue manager and pktdma for different IPs like NETCP,
AIF, FFTC, etc. So the it's API shouldn't be named like it works only
with one of them, it should be general names. The names with prefix
like netcp_* rather do for drivers/net/keystone_net.c driver. So it's
good to generalize this driver to be used for different IP's and
delete confusion with real NETCP driver.
The current netcp_* functions of keystone navigator can be used for
other settings of pktdma, not only for NETCP. The API of this driver
is used by the keystone_net driver to work with NETCP, so net driver

Adjust the driver so that leaf functions take a pointer to the serial port
register base. Put all the global configuration in the init function, and
use the same settings from then on.
This makes it much easier to move to driver model without duplicating the
code, since with driver model we use platform data rather than global
settings.
The driver is compiled with either the CONFIG_PL010_SERIAL or
CONFIG_PL011_SERIAL option and this determines the uart type. With driver
model this needs to come in from platform data, so create a new
CONFIG_PL01X_SERIAL config which brings in the driver, and adjust the

The driver model supports two ways for passing device parameters;
Device Tree and platform_data (board file).
Each driver should generally support both of them because some
popular IPs are used on various platforms.
Assume the following scenario:
- The driver Foo is used on SoC Bar and SoC Baz
- The SoC Bar uses Device Tree control (CONFIG_OF_CONTROL=y)
- The SoC Baz does not support Device Tree; uses a board file
In this situation, the device driver Foo should work with/without
the device tree control. The driver should have .of_match and
.ofdata_to_platdata members for SoC Bar, while they are meaningless
for SoC Baz; therefore those device-tree control code should go
inside #ifdef CONFIG_OF_CONTROL.
The driver code will be like this:
#ifdef CONFIG_OF_CONTROL
static const struct udevice_id foo_of_match = {
{ .compatible = "foo_driver" },
{},
}
static int foo_ofdata_to_platdata(struct udevice *dev)
{
...
}
#endif
U_BOOT_DRIVER(foo_driver) = {
...
.of_match = of_match_ptr(foo_of_match),
.ofdata_to_platdata = of_match_ptr(foo_ofdata_to_platdata),
...
}

Encapsulating data as a blob
Each time that the Blob Protocol is used to protect data, a

Reorganize and cleanup the configuration file for SoCFPGA. There
is no functional change after this cleanup. This was necessary,
since the file was a wild mess and it was impossible to make sense
of it's content, let alone change something without breaking some
other thing. This patch puts the contents on par with regular U-Boot
standards.
Also remove unused preprocessor symbols CONFIG_SINGLE_BOOTOADER
and CONFIG_USE_IRQ, which is undefined by default. Finally, do
logical reordering of the defines in the file so it's much more
readable. The reordering was also necessary for the splitting
as the initial one was messy.

Like many platforms, the Altera socfpga platform requires that the
preloader be "signed" in a certain way or the built-in boot ROM will
not boot the code.
This change automatically creates an appropriately signed preloader
from an SPL image.
The signed image includes a CRC which must, of course, be generated
with a CRC generator that the SoCFPGA boot ROM agrees with otherwise
the boot ROM will reject the image.
Unfortunately the CRC used in this boot ROM is not the same as the
Adler CRC in lib/crc32.c. Indeed the Adler code is not technically a
CRC but is more correctly described as a checksum.
Thus, the appropriate CRC generator is added to lib/ as crc32_alt.c.

The DMA descriptors used by the DW MMC block must be aligned to cacheline
size, otherwise we are unable to properly flush/inval cache over them and
we get data corruption.
The reason I chose this approach of expanding the structure is because
the driver allocates the descriptors in bulk. This approach does waste
space by inserting slop inbetween the descriptors, but it makes access
to the descriptors easy as the compiler does know the real size of the
structure. It also makes cache operations easy, since the size of the
structure is cache aligned and the structure start address is as well.

The libc headers on FreeBSD and likely related projects as well contain an
header file, cdefs.h which provides similiar functionality as linux/compiler.h.
It provides compiler independent defines like __weak __packed, to allow
compiling with multiple compilers which might have a different syntax for such
extension.
Since that header file is included in multiple standard headers, like stddef.h
and stdarg.h, multiple definitions of those defines will be present if both are
included. When compiling u-boot the compiler will warn about it hundreds of
times since e.g. common.h will include both files indirectly.
commit 7ea50d5284 "compiler_gcc: do not redefine
__gnu_attributes" prevented such redefinitions, but this was undone by commit
fb8ffd7cfc "compiler*.h: sync
include/linux/compiler*.h with Linux 3.16".
Add the checks back where necessary to prevent such warnings.

Currently, CONFIG_SPL_SPI_* #defines are used for controlling SPI boot in
SPL. These #defines do not allow the user to select SPI mode for the SPI flash
(there's no CONFIG_SPL_SPI_MODE, so the SPI mode is hardcoded in
spi_spl_load.c), and duplicate information already provided by
CONFIG_SF_DEFAULT_* #defines.
Kill CONFIG_SPL_SPI_*, and use CONFIG_SF_DEFAULT_* instead.

MXC SPI driver has a feature whereas a GPIO line can be used to force CS high
across multiple transactions. This is set up by embedding the GPIO information
in the CS value:
cs = (cs | gpio << 8)
This merge of cs and gpio data into one value breaks the sf probe command:
if the use of gpio is required, invoking "sf probe <cs>" will not work, because
the CS argument doesn't have the GPIO information in it. Instead, the user must
use "sf probe <cs | gpio << 8>". For example, if bank 2 gpio 30 is used to force
cs high on cs 0, bus 0, then instead of typing "sf probe 0" the user now must
type "sf probe 15872".
This is inconsistent with the description of the sf probe command, and forces
the user to be aware of implementaiton details.
Fix this by introducing a new board function: board_spi_cs_gpio(), which will
accept a naked CS value, and provide the driver with the relevant GPIO, if one
is necessary.

U-Boot has imported various source files from other projects,
mostly Linux.
Something like
#ifdef __UBOOT__
[ modification for U-Boot ]
#else
[ original code ]
#endif
is an often used strategy for clarification of adjusted parts,
that is, easier re-sync in future.
Instead of defining __UBOOT__ in each source file,
passing it from the top Makefile would be easier.

This is an implementation of GPIOs for Tegra that uses driver model. It has
been tested on trimslice and also using the new iotrace feature.
The implementation uses a top-level GPIO device (which has no actual GPIOS).
Under this all the banks are created as separate GPIO devices.
The GPIOs are named as per the Tegra datasheet/header files: A0..A7, B0..B7,
..., Z0..Z7, AA0..AA7, etc.
Since driver model is not yet available before relocation, or in SPL, a
special function is provided for seaboard's SPL code.

For some boards board_init() will change GPIOs, so we need to have driver
model available before then. Adjust the board init to arrange this, but
enable it for driver model only, just to be safe.
This does create additional #ifdef logic, but it is safer than trying to
make a pervasive change which may cause some boards to break.
