commit 1b898ffc04 ("gpio: dwapb_gpio: convert to livetree") introduced
a bug in that dev->node of the gpio chip was accidentally set to the

What it meant to do was assign subdev->node, not dev->node.
While this doesn't affect too many use cases, iterating over the gpio

Each of the signal used for the SPI are exposed in a single register. In
order to be able to use the soft-spi driver, the management of this pin

without the 'bank-name' property on the gpio-controller nodes.
This property is not present in the Linux drivers and thus is not
present in the Linux devicetrees. It is only used to access pins
via bank name.
This fallback is necessary since without it, the driver will
return an error code which will lead to an error in U-Boot
startup.

trees in follow-up patch, but other boards using this driver and

When a driver declares DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag, it wishes to be
bound before relocation. However due to a bug in the DM core,
the flag only takes effect when devices are statically declared
via U_BOOT_DEVICE(). This bug has been fixed recently by commit
"dm: core: Respect drivers with the DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in
lists_bind_fdt()", but with the fix, it has a side effect that
all existing drivers that declared DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag will
be bound before relocation now. This may expose potential boot
failure on some boards due to insufficient memory during the
pre-relocation stage.
To mitigate this potential impact, the following changes are
implemented:
- Remove DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in the driver, if the driver
only supports configuration from device tree (OF_CONTROL)
- Keep DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in the driver only if the device
is statically declared via U_BOOT_DEVICE()
- Surround DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag with OF_CONTROL check, for
drivers that support both statically declared devices and
configuration from device tree

When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and
there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the
area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it
with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the
Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first
line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line)
and with slightly different comment styles than us.
In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility
and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style.

The PCA953x driver uses "gpio@%x_" as the GPIO bank name, where "%x" is
instantiated with the I2C address of the chip. While this works, it
becomes very confusing if a board has multiple PCAs with the same
address on different I2C busses, and it also becomes an issue when a
GPIO's value is to be set via the 'gpio' command, because this command
only ever sets the value of the first device it encounters, leaving the
other devices inaccessible to the command.
As to not break boards that rely on this naming scheme, we introduce a
new device tree string property "label" for the driver. If it exists, it
is used to build a bank name of the form "%s@%x_" (where %x is still
instantiated with the I2C address). If it does not exist, the legacy
labeling scheme is used.

owner of the gpio device. The previous GPIO driver gets moved into a
subdevice of the pinctrl driver, bound to the same OF node.
That way whenever a device asks for pinctrl support, it gets it
automatically from the pinctrl driver and GPIO support is still available
in the normal command line phase.

First, I implemented this driver as per-bank model, but it was
a design mistake.
- There are 31 banks in the maximum case. It is painful to add
so many nodes to DT.
- The IRQ control registers are shared between banks. Per-bank
design is a problem for Linux. The counterpart for Linux turned
around to the single node model.

that required features like the DECLARE_GLOBAL_DATA_PTR macro,

Fix up some files which currently don't do this. This is necessary because
driver model will soon start using global data and configuration in the

These support the flat device tree. We want to use the dev_read_..()
prefix for functions that support both flat tree and live tree. So rename
the existing functions to avoid confusion.
In the end we will have:
1. dev_read_addr...() - works on devices, supports flat/live tree
2. devfdt_get_addr...() - current functions, flat tree only
3. of_get_address() etc. - new functions, live tree only
All drivers will be written to use 1. That function will in turn call
either 2 or 3 depending on whether the flat or live tree is in use.

This commit fixes the following message on boot:

In any case it seems better to leave init to driver model, so that it can

On the raspberry pi, you can disable the serial port to gain dynamic frequency
scaling which can get handy at times.
However, in such a configuration the serial controller gets its rx queue filled
up with zero bytes which then happily get transmitted on to whoever calls
getc() today.
This patch adds detection logic for that case by checking whether the RX pin is
mapped to GPIO15 and disables the mini uart if it is not mapped properly.
That way we can leave the driver enabled in the tree and can determine during

sunxi uses a 2 cell phandle for gpio bindings. Also there are no
seperate nodes for each pin bank.
Add a custom .xlate function to map gpio phandles to the correct
pin bank device. This fixes gpio_request_by_name usage.

Define a platform data structure for the MPC85XX GPIO driver to allow
use of the driver without device tree. Users should define the GPIO
blocks for their platform like this:
struct mpc85xx_gpio_plat gpio_blocks[] = {
{
.addr = 0x130000,
.ngpios = 32,
},
{
.addr = 0x131000,
.ngpios = 32,
},
};
U_BOOT_DEVICES(my_platform_gpios) = {
{ "gpio_mpc85xx", &gpio_blocks[0] },
{ "gpio_mpc85xx", &gpio_blocks[1] },
};
This is intended to build upon the recent submission of the base
MPC85XX driver from Mario Six. We need to use that new driver
without dts support and this patch gives us that flexibility.
This has been tested on a Freescale T2080 CPU, although only the first
GPIO block.

On systems with PIO3 (SAMA5D3/D4/..), the pullup and pulldown configuration
is mutualy exclusive. This patch assures that the opposite pull resistor gets
disabled before the requested pull resistor is enabled. This changes behavior
of at91_set_pio_pulldown() such that the pullup is only disabled if pulldown
is to be enabled. This changes behavior of at91_set_pio_pullup() such that
the pulldown is only disabled if pullup is to be enabled.

At present pinctrl driver gets probed in ich6_gpio driver's probe
routine, which has two issues:
- Pin's PADs only gets configured when GPIO driver is probed, which
is not done by default. This leaves the board in a partially
functional state as we must initialize PADs correctly to get
perepherals fully working.
- The probe routine of pinctrl driver is called multiple times, as
normally there are multiple GPIO controllers. It should really
be called just once.

Certain GPIO devices have the capability to switch their GPIOs into
open-drain mode, that is, instead of actively driving the output
(Push-pull output), the pin is connected to the collector (for a NPN
transistor) or the drain (for a MOSFET) of a transistor, respectively.
The pin then either forms an open circuit or a connection to ground,
depending on the state of the transistor.
This patch adds functions to the GPIO uclass to switch GPIOs to
open-drain mode on devices that support it.

This patch adds a driver for the built-in GPIO controller of the MPC85XX
SoC (probably supporting other PowerQUICC III SoCs as well).
Each GPIO bank is identified by its own entry in the device tree, i.e.
gpio-controller@fc00 {
#gpio-cells = <2>;
compatible = "fsl,pq3-gpio";
reg = <0xfc00 0x100>
}
By default, each bank is assumed to have 32 GPIOs, but the ngpios
setting is honored, so the number of GPIOs for each bank in configurable
to match the actual GPIO count of the SoC (e.g. the 32/32/23 banks of
the P1022 SoC).
The usual functions of GPIO drivers (setting input/output mode and output
value setting) are supported.
The driver has been tested on MPC85XX, but it is likely that other
PowerQUICC III devices will work as well.
