At present if logging not enabled, log_info() becomes a nop. But we want
log output at the 'info' level to be akin to printf(). Update the macro to
pass the output straight to printf() in this case.
This mimics the behaviour for the log_...() macros like log_debug() and
log_info(), so we can drop the special case for these.
Add new tests to cover this case.

This patch adds a new "extension" command, which aims at detecting
extension boards connected to the hardware platform, and apply the
Device Tree overlays that describe the hardware present on those
extension boards.
In order to enable this mechanism, board-specific code must implement
the extension_board_scan() function that fills in a linked list of
"struct extension", each describing one extension board. In addition,
the board-specific code must select the SUPPORT_EXTENSION_SCAN Kconfig
boolean.
Based on this:
- "extension scan" makes the generic code call the board-specific
extension_board_scan() function to retrieve the list of detected
extension boards.
- "extension list" allows to list the detected extension boards.
- "extension apply <number>|all" allows to apply the Device Tree
overlay(s) corresponding to one, or all, extension boards
The latter requires two environment variables to exist and set one variable
to run:
- extension_overlay_addr: the RAM address where to load the Device
Tree overlays
- extension_overlay_cmd: the U-Boot command to load one overlay.
Indeed, the location and mechanism to load DT overlays is very setup
specific.
- extension_overlay_name: set by the command: the name of the DT which
will be load during the execution.
When calling the command described in the extension_overlay_cmd
variable, the variable extension_overlay_name will be defined. So a
typical extension_overlay_cmd will look like this:

This change would enhance the existing 'gpt read' command to allow
(optionally) writing of the read GPT partitions to an environment
variable in the UBOOT partitions layout format. This would allow users
to easily change the overall partition settings by editing said variable
and then using the variable in the 'gpt write' and 'gpt verify' commands.

At present the Freescale TSEC node DT bindings doc requires a <reg>
property in the TSEC node. But this might not always be the case.
In the upstream Linux kernel, there is no DT bindings doc for it
but the kernel driver tests a subnode of a name prefixed with
"queue-group", as we can see from gfar_of_init():

The new correct way to load an FPGA image is to declare it in the list
of "loadables". multi-with-fpga.its used the now deprecated "fpga"
property. Since this example most likely intended to use u-boot's
generic FPGA loading code, compatible = "u-boot,fpga-legacy" is also
appropriate here.

This PWM is used in rk3399-gru-bob and rk3399-gru-kevin to control
the display brightness. We can only change the duty cycle, so on
set_config() we just try to match the duty cycle that dividing duty_ns
by period_ns gives us. To disable, we set the duty cycle to zero while
keeping the old value for when we want to re-enable it.
The cros_ec_set_pwm_duty() function is taken from Depthcharge's
cros_ec_set_bl_pwm_duty() but modified to use the generic pwm type.
The driver itself is very loosely based on rk_pwm.c for the general pwm
driver structure.
The devicetree binding file is from Linux, before it was converted to
YAML at 5df5a577a6b4 ("dt-bindings: pwm: Convert google,cros-ec-pwm.txt
to YAML format") in their repo.

Document SRC_GPR10 PERSIST_SECONDARY_BOOT functionality. This is useful for
reliable bootloader A/B updates, as it permits switching between two copies
of bootloader at different offsets of the same storage. The switch happens
in case one copy is corrupted OR can be enforced by user. This functionality
is present at least since i.MX53, however is poorly documented in all known
SoC datasheets, hence this document aims to clarify the usage, currently on
i.MX7D and i.MX8MM.

When booting in low power or dual boot modes the M4 binary is
authenticated by the M4 ROM code.

Provide the model information through sysinfo so that it shows up on
boot. For memconfig 4 pins are provided, for 16 combinations. For SKU
ID there are two options:
- two pins provided in a ternary arrangement, for 9 combinations.
- reading from the EC

At present when a file is bound to a host device it is always marked as
removeable. Arguably the device is removeable, since it can be unbound at
will. However while it is bound, it is not considered removable by the
user. Also it is useful to be able to model both fixed and removeable
devices for code that distinguishes them.
Add a -r flag to the 'host bind' command and plumb it through to provide
this feature.

This doc has a few pieces that are out-of-date. Fix these. Also we have
started to use 'devicetree' instead of 'device tree' or 'device-tree'
since it is easier to see as a single term, so replace all ocurrences
accordingly.
Also move the caveats to the end, since this is a fairly solid part of
U-Boot now.

The UEFI spec allows a packed array of UEFI device paths in the
FilePathList[] of an EFI_LOAD_OPTION. The first file path must
describe the loaded image but the rest are OS specific.
Previous patches parse the device path and try to use the second
member of the array as an initrd. So let's modify efidebug slightly
and install the second file described in the command line as the
initrd device path.

At present this property is a phandle but does not have a #xxx-cells
property to match it. Add one so that is works the same as gpio and clock
phandles.

Instead of using a separate step for this processing, handle it while
scanning its associated driver. This allows us to drop the code coverage
exception in this case.
Note that only files containing drivers are scanned by dtoc, so aliases
declared in a file that doesn't hold a driver will not be noticed. It
would be confusing to put them anywhere other than in the driver that they
relate to, but update the documentation to say this explicitly, just in
case.

Move README.dfu to doc/usage/dfu.rst and convert to reStructured text.
In the long run this page should be split into two. One for the overview
and one for the dfu command. UEFI capsule updates and dfutftp should be
integrated into the overview page.

The existing log_ret() and log_msg_ret() macros consider an error to be
less than zero. But some function may return a positive number to indicate
a different kind of failure. Add macros to check for that also.

When multiple log() calls are used which don't end in newline, the
log prefix is prepended multiple times in the same line. This makes the
output look strange.
Fix this by detecting when the previous log record did not end in newline.
In that case, setting a flag.
Drop the unused BUFFSIZE in the test while we are here.
As an example implementation, update log_console to check the flag and
produce the expected output.

At present some of the documentation about running sandbox tests is in the
sandbox docs. It makes more sense to put it in with the other testing
docs, with a link there from sandbox. Update the documentation
accordingly.

As an example of an SPL test, add a new test for loading a FIT within
SPL. This runs on sandbox_spl. For this to work, the text base is adjusted
so that there is plenty of space available.
While we are here, document struct spl_load_info properly, since this is
currently ambiguous.
This test only verifies the logic path. It does not actually check that
the image is loaded correctly. It is not possible for sandbox's SPL to
actually run u-boot.img since it currently includes u-boot.bin rather than
u-boot. Further work could expand the test in that direction.

Now when usbtty serial console is fixed in U-Boot enable CONFIG_USB_TTY for
Nokia RX-51 board by default.
Fix also USB product id as U-Boot ignores CONFIG_USBD_PRODUCTID macro and
include U-Boot string into USB product name to indicate usage of U-Boot.
CONFIG_CONSOLE_MUX is already used and U-Boot console is available for
all in/out devices. Therefore there is no need to have separate commands
'run sercon', 'run usbcon' and 'run vgacon', so remove them.
As space for U-Boot is limited to 256kB, enable CONFIG_OPTIMIZE_INLINING
and disable some other unused options so CONFIG_USB_TTY can be enabled.
Nokia RX-51 does not have easily accessible UART serial console so the only
option for easy debugging is to use device's keyboard+screen or this usbtty
serial console over USB.

Comparing a hex dump on the U-Boot command line with the contents of a
file on the host system is fairly easy and convenient to do manually if
it is small. But the format used hexdump by default differs from that
shown by U-Boot. Add a note about how to make them the same.
(For large dumps, writing the data to the network with tftpput, or to a
USB stick with ext4save is easiest.)

The K3 R5F remoteproc driver in U-Boot was upstreamed prior to the
equivalent remoteproc driver in the Linux kernel. Some of the DT
properties used in U-Boot got upstreamed using different names
in Linux kernel.
The modified property names include the R5F cluster mode configuration
property "lockstep-mode"; and three different individual R5F core config
properties - "atcm-enable", "btcm-enable" and "loczrama". The property
names were updated as follows:
lockstep-mode => ti,cluster-mode
atcm-enable => ti,atcm-enable
btcm-enable => ti,btcm-enable
loczrama => ti,loczrama
Update the K3 R5F remoteproc driver, the corresponding binding, and
all the existing usage in AM65x, J721E and J7200 dts files all at
once to use the new properties and to not break any bisectability.

Define a new 'SCRIPT' type for DFU entities. The downloaded data are
treated as simple u-boot's scripts and executed with run_command_list()
function.
Flashing the 'SCRIPT' entity might result in changing the 'dfu_alt_info'
environment variable from the flashed script, so add a global variable
for tracking the potential need to reinitialize the dfu_alt_info related
structures.

Define a new 'SKIP' type for the DFU entities. The flashed data for that
entity is simply ignored without returning any error values.
This allows to have one flashing procedure and images for the different
board types or variants, where each board uses only the images relevant
to it and skips the rest. This is especially usefull for the THOR
protocol, which usually transfers more than one file in a single session.

The UEFI Self Certification Test (SCT) checks the SetTime() service with
the following steps:

* reset
* check date matches
To be compliant the sandbox should keep the offset to the host RTC during
resets. The implementation uses the environment variable
UBOOT_SB_TIME_OFFSET to persist the offset.

This adds support for specifying FDT overlays in an extlinux/pxelinux
configuration file.
Without this, there is no simple way to apply overlays when the kernel
and fdt is loaded by the pxe command.
This change adds the 'fdtoverlays' keyword for a label, supporting multiple
overlay files to be applied on top of the fdt specified in the 'fdt' or
'devicetree' keyword.

** Introduction
There are currently four ways to load an OS image with u-boot
1. SPL -> u-boot -> bootm
2. SPL blue falcon mode
3. "Basic" FIT image (CONFIG_LOAD_FIT)
4. "Full-featured" FIT image (CONFIG_LOAD_FIT_FULL)
These four code paths were developed independently, and share very
little code. (3) and (4), behave very differently, are littered with
special cases. They even have different DTS syntax and properties.
The cause of this divergence is that the FIT format specification
leaves a number of things open to interpretation. The purpose of this
change is to enable the reduction of code size, duplication, and
complexity by updating and streamlining the FIT format.
We are only marginally concerned with backwards compatibility, because
we don't have inter-compatibility. For example, CONFIG_LOAD_FIT is
able to load images that CONFIG_LOAD_FIT_FULL won't. This is a direct
result of the incompatible syntax between the two implementations.
Ideally, these changes would enable "simple" FIT to be a subset of the
"full" fit implementation, and share most code. These changes should
also eliminate the need for falcon mode (although we are not
advocating for the removal of falcon mode at this time).
** Description of changes
* The "configurations" node is now mandatory
Guessing how to load components based on their "os" and "type" invites
confusion and superfluous heuristics. Instead, require each FIT image
to be explicit on how components should be loaded.
* Eliminate "ramdisk", "setup", "standalone", and "fpga" properties
Having too many special purpose properties requires special-casing
FIT loading code. When a special property can be handled by another
property, it is redundant.
- A "ramdisk" is identical to a loadable. Thus ramdisk images should
be placed under "loadables".
- A "setup" node can be achieved by using a "kernel" or "firmware"
property instead.
- "standalone" is used for u-boot nodes. The correct property to use
in this case is "firmware".
- "fpga" is a loadable
* Prioritize control between "firmware" and "kernel"
"firmware" and "kernel" are special nodes in that control is passed
to the "entry-point" of the image. Both can be present, for example,
an OP-TEE firmware with a linux kernel. When both are present,
control is passed to the "firmware" image.
** Further generalizations (not included herein)
The "firmware" and "kernel" properties could be generalized as a
"next-boot-stage", or similar name. This "next" stage would be special
in that it is both executable, and is the stage that is passed
control. For example, "next-stage" could be an op-tee image, with
linux as a loadable, or a u-boot image.

This enables configs necessary for using SPI. The environment is saved to
the very end of SPI flash. This is unlikely to be overwritten unless the
entire flash is reprogrammed.
This also supplies a default bootcommand. It loads an image and device tree
from the first partition of the MMC. This is a minimal/least effort
bootcmd, so suggestions (especially in the form of patches) are welcome. I
didn't set up distro boot because I think it is unlikely that any
general-purpose linux distros will ever be ported to this board.

When setting aside a GPT partition for holding the U-Boot environment,
having a partition type GUID [1] indicating "Linux filesystem" (as
most tools default to) is somewhat misleading - and there's no other
well-known type GUID that is better suited. So to have a canonical
value to put into the type field, define

to mean a partition holding a U-Boot environment.
This is a v5 namespace-name GUID [2], generated [3] from a namespace
of "25cbcde0-8642-47c6-a298-1a3a57cd256b" and name "U-Boot

sensible to use that same namespace GUID.

Add a 'mbr' command to let users create or verify MBR partition layout
based on the provided text description. The partition layout is
alternatively read from the 'mbr_parts' environment variable. This can be
used in scripts to help system image flashing tools to ensure proper
partition layout.
The syntax of the text description of the partition list is similar to
the one used by the 'gpt' command. Supported parameters are: name
(currently ignored), start (partition start offset in bytes), size (in
bytes or '-' to expand it to the whole free area), bootable (boolean
flag) and id (MBR partition type). If one wants to create more than 4
partitions, an 'Extended' primary partition (with 0x05 ID) has to be
explicitely provided as a one of the first 4 entries.
Here is an example how to create a 6 partitions (3 on the 'extended
volume'), some of the predefined sizes:

Up to now the bootefi command used the last file loaded to determine the
boot partition. This has led to errors when the fdt had been loaded from
another partition after the EFI binary.
Before setting the boot device from a loaded file check if it is a PE-COFF
image or a FIT image.
For a PE-COFF image remember address and size, boot device and path.
For a FIT image remember boot device and path.
If the PE-COFF image is overwritten by loading another file, forget it.
Do not allow to start an image via bootefi which is not the last loaded
PE-COFF image.

We use the U_BOOT_ prefix (i.e. U_BOOT_DRIVER) to declare a driver but
in every other case we just use DM_. Update the alias macros to use the
DM_ prefix.
We could perhaps rename U_BOOT_DRIVER() to DM_DRIVER(), but this macro
is widely used and there is at least some benefit to indicating it us a
U-Boot driver, particularly for code ported from Linux. So for now, let's
keep that name.

The current macro is a misnomer since it does not declare a device
directly. Instead, it declares driver_info record which U-Boot uses at
runtime to create a device.
The distinction seems somewhat minor most of the time, but is becomes
quite confusing when we actually want to declare a device, with
of-platdata. We are left trying to distinguish between a device which
isn't actually device, and a device that is (perhaps an 'instance'?)
It seems better to rename this macro to describe what it actually is. The
macros is not widely used, since boards should use devicetree to declare
devices.
Rename it to U_BOOT_DRVINFO(), which indicates clearly that this is
declaring a new driver_info record, not a device.

The linker script uses alphabetic sorting to group the different linker
lists together. Each group has its own struct and potentially its own
alignment. But when the linker packs the structs together it cannot ensure
that a linker list starts on the expected alignment boundary.
For example, if the first list has a struct size of 8 and we place 3 of
them in the image, that means that the next struct will start at offset
0x18 from the start of the linker_list section. If the next struct has
a size of 16 then it will start at an 8-byte aligned offset, but not a
16-byte aligned offset.
With sandbox on x86_64, a reference to a linker list item using
ll_entry_get() can force alignment of that particular linker_list item,
if it is in the same file as the linker_list item is declared.
Consider this example, where struct driver is 0x80 bytes:

If these two lines of code are in the same file, then the entry is forced
to be aligned at the 'struct driver' alignment, which is 16 bytes. If the
second line of code is in a different file, then no action is taken, since
the compiler cannot update the alignment of the linker_list item.
In the first case, an 8-byte 'fill' region is added:

With this, the linker_list no-longer works since items after testfdt1_drv
are not at the expected address.
Ideally we would have a way to tell gcc not to align structs in this way.
It is not clear how we could do this, and in any case it would require us
to adjust every struct used by the linker_list feature.
One possible fix is to force each separate linker_list to start on the
largest possible boundary that can be required by the compiler. However
that does not seem to work on x86_64, which uses 16-byte alignment in this
case but needs 32-byte alignment.
So add a Kconfig option to handle this. Set the default value to 4 so
as to avoid changing platforms that don't need it.
Update the ll_entry_start() accordingly.

We can't really use 'pdata' since that is ambiguous (it could mean private

This construct is quite long-winded. In earlier days it made some sense
since auto-allocation was a strange concept. But with driver model now
used pretty universally, we can shorten this to 'auto'. This reduces
verbosity and makes it easier to read.
Coincidentally it also ensures that every declaration is on one line,
thus making dtoc's job easier.

This uclass is intended to provide a way to obtain information about a
U-Boot board. But the concept of a U-Boot 'board' is the whole system,
not just one circuit board, meaning that 'board' is something of a
misnomer for this uclass.
In addition, the name 'board' is a bit overused in U-Boot and we want to
use the same uclass to provide SMBIOS information.
The obvious name is 'system' but that is so vague as to be meaningless.
Use 'sysinfo' instead, since this uclass is aimed at providing information
on the system.
Rename everything accordingly.
Note: Due to the patch delta caused by the symbol renames, this patch
shows some renamed files as being deleted in one place and created in
another.

Some commands can get very unweildy if they have too many positional
arguments. Adding options makes them easier to read, remember, and
understand.
This implementation of getopt has been taken from barebox, which has had
option support for quite a while. I have made a few modifications to their
version, such as the removal of opterr in favor of a separate getopt_silent
function. In addition, I have moved all global variables into struct
getopt_context.
The getopt from barebox also re-orders the arguments passed to it so that
non-options are placed last. This allows users to specify options anywhere.
For example, `ls -l foo/ -R` would be re-ordered to `ls -l -R foo/` as
getopt parsed the options. However, this feature conflicts with the const
argv in cmd_tbl->cmd. This was originally added in 54841ab50c ("Make sure
that argv[] argument pointers are not modified."). The reason stated in
that commit is that hush requires argv to stay unmodified. Has this
situation changed? Barebox also uses hush, and does not have this problem.
Perhaps we could use their fix?
I have assigned maintenance of getopt to Simon Glass, as it is currently
only used by the log command. I would also be fine maintaining it.

Some drivers use macro pr_cont() for continuing a message sent via printk.
Hence if we want to convert printk messaging to using the logging system,
we must support continuation of log messages too.
As pr_cont() does not provide a message level we need a means of
remembering the last log level.
With the patch a pseudo log level LOGL_CONT as well as a pseudo log
category LOGC_CONT are introduced. Using these results in the application
of the same log level and category as in the previous log message.

SPL is creating fit-images DT node when loadables are recorded in selected
configuration. Entries which are created are using entry-point and
load-addr property names. But there shouldn't be a need to use non standard
properties because entry/load are standard FIT properties. But using
standard FIT properties enables option to use generic FIT functions to
descrease SPL size. Here is result for ZynqMP virt configuration:

Add basic support for the Kontron SMARC-sAL28 board. This includes just
the bare minimum to be able to bring up the board and boot linux.
For now, the Single and Dual PHY variant is supported. Other variants
will fall back to the basic variant.
In particular, there is no watchdog support for now. This means that you
have to disable the default watchdog, otherwise you'll end up in the
recovery bootloader. See the board README for details.

This patch adds support for the Qualcomm QUP SPI controller that is commonly found in most of Qualcomm SoC-s.
Driver currently supports v1.1.1, v2.1.1 and v2.2.1 HW.
FIFO and Block modes are supported, no support for DMA mode is planned.

This patch adds a new pstore command allowing to display or save ramoops
logs (oops, panic, console, ftrace and user) generated by a previous
kernel crash.
PStore parameters can be set in U-Boot configuration file, or at run-time
using "pstore set" command. Records size should be the same as the ones
used by kernel, and should be a power of 2.
This command allows:
- to display uncompressed logs
- to save compressed or uncompressed logs, compressed logs are saved as a
compressed stream, it may need some work to be able to decompress it,
e.g. adding a fake header:

- ECC part is not used to check memory corruption

Import armada-3720-espressobin-emmc.dts from Linux, but use sdhc1 for
emmc, since our dtsi is still based on downstream and sdhc0 is used for
the sd card.

At present if CONFIG_LOG enabled, putting LOG_DEBUG at the top of a file
(before log.h inclusion) causes _log() to be executed for every log()
call, regardless of the build- or run-time logging level.
However there is no guarantee that the log record will actually be
displayed. If the current log level is lower than LOGL_DEBUG then it will
not be.
Add a way to signal that the log record should always be displayed and
update log_passes_filters() to handle this.
With the new behaviour, log_debug() will always log if LOG_DEBUG is
enabled.
Move log_test_syslog_nodebug() into its own file since it cannot be made
to work where it is, with LOG_DEBUG defined.

The Fully-Programmable Input/Output Array (FPIOA) device controls pin
multiplexing on the K210. The FPIOA can remap any supported function to any
multifunctional IO pin. It can also perform basic GPIO functions, such as
reading the current value of a pin. However, GPIO functionality remains
largely unimplemented (in favor of the dedicated GPIO peripherals).

also moves the documentation for pinctrl_ops inline, and adds argument and
return-value documentation. I have kept the usual function style for these
comments. I could not find any existing examples of function documentation
inside structs.

The pinmux property allows for smaller and more compact device trees,
especially when there are many pins which need to be assigned individually.
Instead of specifying an array of strings to be parsed as pins and a
function property, the pinmux property contains an array of integers
representing pinmux groups. A pinmux group consists of the pin identifier
and mux settings represented as a single integer or an array of integers.
Each individual pin controller driver specifies the exact format of a
pinmux group. As specified in the Linux documentation, a pinmux group may
be multiple integers long. However, no existing drivers use multi-integer
pinmux groups, so I have chosen to omit this feature. This makes the
implementation easier, since there is no need to allocate a buffer to do
endian conversions.
Support for the pinmux property is done differently than in Linux. As far
as I can tell, inversion of control is used when implementing support for
the pins and groups properties to avoid allocating. This results in some
duplication of effort; every property in a config node is parsed once for
each pin in that node. This is not such an overhead with pins and groups
properties, since having multiple pins in one config node does not occur
especially often. However, the semantics of the pinmux property make such a
configuration much more appealing. A future patch could parse all config
properties at once and store them in an array. This would make it easier to
create drivers which do not function solely as callbacks from
pinctrl-generic.
This commit increases the size of the sandbox build by approximately 48
bytes. However, it also decreases the size of the K210 device tree by 2
KiB from the previous version of this series.
The documentation has been updated from the last Linux commit before it was
split off into yaml files.

The VIM3 on-board MCU can mux the PCIe/USB3.0 shared differential
lines using a FUSB340TMX USB 3.1 SuperSpeed Data Switch between
an USB3.0 Type A connector and a M.2 Key M slot.
The PHY driving these differential lines is shared between
the USB3.0 controller and the PCIe Controller, thus only
a single controller can use it.
This adds this dynamic switching right before booting Linux
and the configuration steps in the boards documentation.

Many I2C devices produce roughly the same ACPI data with just things like
the GPIO/interrupt information being different.
This can be handled by a generic driver along with some information in the
device tree.

Recent versions of Chrome OS do not have a kernel in the root disk, to
save space.
With the improvements to the 'zboot' command it is fairly easy to load

The term eMMC is used inconsistently within the FSP devicetree
bindings (e-mmc and emmc), especially for "emmc-host-max-speed"
documentation and code disagree.
Change all eMMC instances within the FSP bindings to consistently
use "emmc". The term "emmc" is already used a lot within U-Boot,
while "e-mmc" is only used in the FSP bindings.

The K3 J7200 SoCs have two dual-core Arm R5F clusters/subsystems, with
2 R5F cores each, one in each of the MCU and MAIN voltage domains.
These clusters are a revised version compared to those present on
J721E SoCs. Update the K3 R5F remoteproc bindings with the compatible
info relevant to these R5F clusters/subsystems on K3 J7200 SoCs.

Add support for defining raw fastboot partitions in eMMC by specifying
the offset and size in an environment variable. Optionally, the eMMC
hardware partition number may also be specified.
This makes it possible to e.g. update only part of the eMMC boot
partition, instead of having to write the entire partition.

The test flags used by driver model are currently not available to other
tests. Rather than creating two sets of flags, make these flags generic
by changing the DM_ prefix to UT_ and moving them to the test.h header.
This will allow adding other test flags without confusion.

The eSDHC adapter card identification and multiplexing configuration
through FPGA had been implemented in both common mmc driver and
fsl_esdhc driver. However it is proper to move these code to board
files and do it during board initialization. The FPGA registers are
also board specific.
This patch is to move eSDHC adapter card identification and
multiplexing configuration from mmc driver to specific board files.
And the option CONFIG_FSL_ESDHC_ADAPTER_IDENT is no longer needed.

Normally the FIT timestamp is created the first time mkimage is run on a
FIT, when converting the source .its to the binary .fit file. This
corresponds to using the -f flag. But if the original input to mkimage is
a binary file (already compiled) then the timestamp is assumed to have
been set previously.
Add a -t flag to allow setting the timestamp in this case.

Normally the FIT timestamp is created the first time mkimage is run on a
FIT, when converting the source .its to the binary .fit file. This
corresponds to using the -f flag. But if the original input to mkimage is
a binary file (already compiled) then the timestamp is assumed to have
been set previously.
Add a -t flag to allow setting the timestamp in this case.

For many device types it is possible to figure out the name just by
looking at its uclass or parent. Add a function to handle this, since it
allows us to cover the vast majority of cases automatically.
However it is sometimes impossible to figure out an ACPI name for a device
just by looking at its uclass. For example a touch device may have a
vendor-specific name. Add a new "acpi,name" property to allow a custom
name to be created.
With this new feature we can drop the get_name() methods in the sandbox
I2C and SPI drivers. They were only added for testing purposes. Update the
tests to use the new values.

Add a /chosen property to control the order in which the data appears
in the SSDT. This allows matching up U-Boot's output from a dump of the

With DDR4, Intel SOCs take quite a long time to init their memory. During
this time, if the user is watching, it looks like SPL has hung. Add a
message in this case.
This works by adding a return code to fspm_update_config() that indicates
whether MRC data was found and a new property to the device tree.
Also add one more debug message while starting.

devices supporting those boot options.

We currently have two implementations of UEFI variables:
* variables provided via an OP-TEE module
* variables stored in the U-Boot environment
Read only variables are up to now only implemented in the U-Boot
environment implementation.
Provide a common interface for both implementations that allows handling
read-only variables.
As variable access is limited to very few source files put variable
related definitions into new include efi_variable.h instead of efi_loader.

This solves a compatibility issue with Linux device trees
that contain TPMv2.x hardware. So it's easier to import DTS
from upstream kernel when migrating board init from C code
to DTS.
The issue is that fallback binding is different between Linux
and u-Boot.
Linux: "tcg,tpm_tis-spi"
U-Boot: "tis,tpm2-spi"
As there are currently no in-tree users of the U-Boot binding,
it makes sense to use Linux fallback binding.

This type of bus is used in Linux to designate buses which have power
domains and/or clocks which need to be enabled before their child devices
can be used. Because power domains are automatically enabled before probing
in U-Boot, we just need to enable any clocks present.

Due to the large number of clocks, I decided to use the CCF. The overall
structure is modeled after the imx code. Clocks parameters are stored in
several arrays, and are then instantiated at run-time. There are some
translation macros (FOOIFY()) which allow for more dense packing.

CCF clocks should always use the struct clock passed to their methods for
extracting the driver-specific clock information struct. Previously, many
functions would use the clk->dev->priv if the device was bound. This could
cause problems with composite clocks. The individual clocks in a composite
clock did not have the ->dev field filled in. This was fine, because the
device-specific clock information would be used. However, since there was
no ->dev, there was no way to get the parent clock. This caused the
recalc_rate method of the CCF divider clock to fail. One option would be to
use the clk->priv field to get the composite clock and from there get the
appropriate parent device. However, this would tie the implementation to
the composite clock. In general, different devices should not rely on the
contents of ->priv from another device.
The simple solution to this problem is to just always use the supplied
struct clock. The composite clock now fills in the ->dev pointer of its
child clocks. This allows child clocks to make calls like clk_get_parent()
without issue.
imx avoided the above problem by using a custom get_rate function with
composite clocks.

We should not use typedefs in U-Boot. They cannot be used as forward
declarations which means that header files must include the full header to
access them.
Drop the typedef and rename the struct to remove the _s suffix which is
now not useful.
This requires quite a few header-file additions.

If "object=" is specified in "keydir" when using the pkcs11 engine do
not append another "object=<key-name-hint>". This makes it possible to
use object names other than the key name hint. These two string

Add support for configuring the CLK_25M pin as well as the RGMII I/O
voltage by the device tree.
By default the AT803x PHYs outputs the 25MHz clock of the XTAL input.
But this output can also be changed by software to other frequencies.
This commit introduces a generic way to configure this output.
Also the PHY supports different RGMII I/O voltages: 1.5V, 1.8V and 2.5V.
An internal LDO is able to provide 1.5V (default) and 1.8V. The 2.5V
option needs an external supply voltage. This commit adds support to
switch the internal LDO to 1.8V.

Coreboot is a first-stage bootloader mostly used on x86 devices as an
alternative to UEFI. Coreboot runs in 32-bit mode.
U-Boot currently supports booting from coreboot as a second-stage
bootloader, also in 32-bit mode. However it is useful to be able to run
U-Boot in 64-bit mode. To do this we can have a 32-bit SPL which switches
over the CPU and jumps to a 64-bit U-Boot proper.
Add a new 'coreboot64' board for running 64-bit U-Boot from coreboot. This
uses binman to create an image with a 32-bit SPL and a 64-bit U-Boot.
This allows running 64-bit EFI images on x86, for example, without needing
a native U-Boot port for a board.

The ROC-RK3328-CC from Firefly and Libre Computer Project is a credit
card size development board based on the Rockchip RK3328 SoC, with:

- 1 x USB 3.0 host port
- 2 x USB 2.0 host port
- 1 x USB 2.0 OTG port
- HDMI video output
- TRRS connector with audio and composite video output

- consumer IR receiver
- debug UART pins
The ROC-RK3328-CC has the enable pin of the SD card power switch tied
to GPIO_0_D6. This pin also has the function SDMMC0_PWREN, which is
muxed by default. SDMMC0_PWREN is an active high signal controlled by
the MMC controller, however the switch enable is active low, and
pulled low (enabled) by default to make things work on boot.
As such, we need to mux away from SDMMC0_PWREN and use GPIO to enable
power to the card. The default GPIO state for the pin is pull-down and
input, which doesn't require extra configuration when paired with the
external pull-down and active low switch.
Deal with this by enabling regulator support in SPL, and setting
"u-boot,dm-spl" for the regulator and other device nodes needed for
muxing the pin.
The device tree file is synced from the Linux kernel next-20200324.

The image is usually stored in block device like emmc, SD card, make the
offset of image data aligned to block(512 byte) can avoid data copy
during boot process.
eg. SPL boot from FIT image with external data:
- SPL read the first block of FIT image, and then parse the header;
- SPL read image data separately;
- The first image offset is the base_offset which is the header size;
- The second image offset is just after the first image;
- If the offset of imge does not aligned, SPL will do memcpy;
The header size is a ramdon number, which is very possible not aligned, so
add '-B size'to specify the align size in hex for better performance.

After a successful upgrade, multiple problem during boot sequence may
trigger the altbootcmd process.
This patch adds a version and an upgrade_available entries to the
bootcount file to enable/disable the bootcount check.
When failing to read the bootcount file it will consider that bootcount is
enabled, acting as previously, and update the file accordingly.
The bootcount file is only saved when `upgrade_available` is true, this
allows to save writes to the filesystem.

The AV96 is in fact an assembly of DH Electronics DHCOR SoM on top
of an AV96 reference board. Split the DTs to reflect that and make
sure to DHCOR SoM can be reused on other boards easily.
It is also highly recommended to configure the board for the DHCOM
make stm32mp15_dhcom_basic_defconfig
make DEVICE_TREE=stm32mp15xx-dhcor-avenger96
as that permits reusing the board code for the DH components, like
accessing and reading out the ethernet MAC from EEPROM.

Prior to QEMU v3.1.0, QEMU generated the 'virt' SoC node with a
"riscv-virtio-soc" compatible string, and a "simple-bus" driver
was created to accommodate that special case in U-Boot.
Starting from QEMU v3.1.0, the SoC node was set as a "simple-bus",
hence the special simple-bus driver is no longer needed.
Update the doc to mention the latest tested QEMU version 4.2.0.

Add compressed Image parsing support so that booti can parse both
flat and compressed Image to boot Linux. Currently, it is difficult
to calculate a safe address for every board where the compressed
image can be decompressed. It is also not possible to figure out the
size of the compressed file as well. Thus, user need to set two
additional environment variables kernel_comp_addr_r and filesize to
make this work.
Following compression methods are supported for now.
lzma, lzo, bzip2, gzip.
lz4 support is not added as ARM64 kernel generates a lz4 compressed
image with legacy header which U-Boot doesn't know how to parse and
decompress.
Tested on HiFive Unleashed and Qemu for RISC-V.
Tested on Qemu for ARM64.

same. This can cause problems in the case where the parent has a 'ranges'
property, thus affecting the operation of dev_read_addr(), for example.
We already probe parent devices before children so it does not seem to be
a large step to do the same with ofdata.
Make the change and update the documentation in this area.

Provide a log driver that broadcasts RFC 3164 messages to syslog servers.
rsyslog is one implementation of such a server.
The messages are sent to the local broadcast address 255.255.255.255 on
port 514.
The environment variable log_hostname can be used to provide the HOSTNAME
field for the messages. The optional TIMESTAMP field of RFC 3164 is not
provided.

The way the PCI nodes are written today causes a number of warnings if
we stop disabling some of the warnings we pass to DTC. As these
warnings aren't disabled in current Linux Kernel builds, we should aim
to not disable them here either, so rewrite these slightly. Update the
driver model doc as well.

Most commands can be executed as normal users. Prepend those commands
requiring elevated authorization with 'sudo'.
dd does not have a parameter cout.
sfdisk does not have a -C parameter on Debian Buster.
Provide the necessary input to sfdisk.
Creating a partition of length zero makes no sense.

only one for all. The similar change has been done for ZynqMP by commit

Build SPL with u-boot.img for zc706 like this.

Some SoCs in the mpc83xx family, e.g. mpc8309, have a dedicated spi
chip select, SPISEL_BOOT, that is used by the boot code to boot from
flash.
This chip select will typically be used to select a SPI boot
flash. The SPISEL_BOOT signal is controlled by a single bit in the
SPI_CS register.
Implement a gpio driver for the spi chip select register. This allows a
spi driver capable of using gpios as chip select, to bind a chip select
to SPISEL_BOOT.
It may be a little odd to do this as a GPIO driver, since the signal
is neither GP or I, but it is quite convenient to present it to the
spi driver that way. The alternative it to teach mpc8xxx_spi to handle
the SPISEL_BOOT signal itself (that is how it's done in the linux
kernel, see commit 69b921acae8a)

This parameter "st,phy-cal" becomes optional and when it is
absent the built-in PHY calibration is done.
It is the case in the helper dtsi file "stm32mp15-ddr.dtsi"
except if DDR_PHY_CAL_SKIP is defined.
This patch also impact the ddr interactive mode
- the registers of the param 'phy.cal' are initialized to 0 when
"st,phy-cal" is not present in device tree (default behavior when
DDR_PHY_CAL_SKIP is not activated)
- the info 'cal' field can be use to change the calibration behavior
- cal=1 => use param phy.cal to initialize the PHY, built-in training
is skipped
- cal=0 => param phy.cal is absent, built-in training is used (default)

This adds support for clock stretching to the i2c-gpio driver. This is
accomplished by switching the GPIO used for the SCL line to an input
when it should be driven high, and polling on the SCL line value until
it goes high (indicating that the I2C slave is no longer pulling it
low).
This is enabled by default; for gpios which cannot be configured as
inputs, the i2c-gpio,scl-output-only property can be used to fall back
to the previous behavior.

doc/README.drivers.eth seems like a good source for understanding
U-Boot's network subsystem, but is only talking about legacy network
drivers. This is particularly sad as proper documentation would help in
porting drivers over to the driver model.
Rewrite the document to describe network drivers in the new driver model
world. Most driver callbacks/methods are almost identical in their
semantic, but recv() differs in some important details.
Also keep some parts of the original text at the end, to help
understanding old drivers. Add some hints on how to port drivers over.
This also uses the opportunity to reformat the document in reST, on the
way moving it into doc/driver-model and adding it into the structure
there.

The ESM (Error Signal Monitor) is used on certain PMIC versions to
handle error signals propagating from rest of the system. If these
reach the PMIC, it is typically a last resort fatal error which
requires a system reset. The ESM driver does the proper configuration
for the ESM module to reach this end goal. Initially, only TPS65941
PMIC is supported for this.

The ESM (Error Signaling Module) is used to route error signals within
the K3 SoCs somewhat similar to interrupts. The handling for these is
different though, and can be routed for hardware error handling, to
be handled by safety processor or just as error interrupts handled
by the main processor. The u-boot level ESM driver is just used to
configure the ESM signals so that they get routed to proper destination.

Use the correct return value in function do_gpio() and update

CMD_RET_SUCCESS is returned on command success and CMD_RET_FAILURE is

ACPI GPEs are used to signal interrupts from peripherals that are accessed
via ACPI. In U-Boot these are modelled as interrupts using a separate
interrupt controller. Configuration is via the device tree.
Add a simple driver for this.

At present driver model supports the IRQ uclass but there is no way to
request a particular interrupt for a driver.
Add a mechanism, similar to clock and reset, to read the interrupts
required by a device from the device tree and to request those interrupts.
U-Boot itself does not have interrupt-driven handlers, so just provide a
means to read and clear an interrupt. This can be useful to handle
peripherals which must use an interrupt to determine when data is
available, for example.
Bring over the basic binding file as well, from Linux v5.4. Note that the
older binding is not supported in U-Boot; the newer 'special form' must be
used.
Add a simple test of the new functionality.

Sandbox currently uses SDL1.2. SDL2 has been around for quite a while and
is widely supported. It has a number of useful features. It seems
appropriate to move sandbox over.
Update the code to use SDL2 instead of SDL1.2.

Following the recommendation of adding '#define DEBUG' at the top
of drivers/core/lists.c does not cause the debug messages to be
shown. Change it to '#define LOG_DEBUG' instead, which actually
makes it work as per doc/README.log.
While at it, provide the full path to lists.c to in order to make
the instructions clearer.

Now, Slim Bootloader uses NS16550_DYNAMIC to support serial port
configuration at runtime, so no more code change is required.

Rockchip has documentation file, doc/README.rockchip but
which is not so readable to add or understand the existing
contents. Even the format that support is legacy readme
in U-Boot.
Add rockchip specific documentation file using new rst
format, which describes the information about Rockchip
supported boards and it's usage steps.
Added minimal information about rk3288, rk3328, rk3368
and rk3399 boards and usage. This would indeed updated
further based on the requirements and updates.

DS3232 is an i2c RTC with 236 bytes of battery-backed SRAM.
Add an RTC driver for DS3232 device, which provides time and
date support. Also read and write functions are provided,
which can be used to access the SRAM memory.

When the `dfu` command is called from the U-Boot environment,
it now accepts an optional parameter that specifies a timeout (in seconds).
If a DFU connection is not made within that time the `dfu` command exits
(as it would if Ctrl+C was pressed). If the timeout is left empty or being
zero the `dfu` command behaves as it does now.
This is useful for allowing U-Boot to check to see if anything wants to
upload new firmware before continuing to boot.

Recent Intel SoCs share a pinctrl mechanism with many common elements. Add
an implementation of this core functionality, allowing SoC-specific
drivers to avoid adding common code.
As well as a pinctrl driver this provides a GPIO driver based on the same
code.
Once other SoCs use this driver we may consider moving more properties to
the device tree (e.g. the community info and pad definitions).

At present PCI auto-configuration happens in U-Boot both before and after
relocation. This is a waste of time and may mess up static addresses used
in board_init_f(). Adjust the code to supporting doing auto-configuration
once, after relocation, under control of a device-tree property.
This is needed for Apollo Lake for debugging the silicon-init code. Once
the UART is moved to a different MMIO address the debug UART does not work
and any debug output in Apollo Lake's arch_fsp_init_r() causes a hang.

Commit 656d8da9d2 (doc: Remove duplicated documentation directory) got
rid of most of Documentation/. But there's still an obviously useless
.gitignore left behind.
Also, there's a copy of the linux kernel's net/ethernet.txt binding
imported from v5.0, while the existing one in doc/ is from 4.0-rc1. So
replace the latter by the former, and making Documentation/ finally
empty.

Based on commit 980066e6d964 ("dt-bindings: phy: dp83867: Add documentation
for disabling clock output") of mainline linux kernel.
The clock output is generally only used for testing and development and not
used to daisy-chain PHYs. It's just a source of RF noise afterward.
Add a mux value for "off". I've added it as another enumeration to the
output property. In the actual PHY, the mux and the output enable are
independently controllable. However, it doesn't seem useful to be able
to describe the mux setting when the output is disabled.
Document that PHY's default setting will be left as is if the property
is omitted.

Part of the env cleanup moved this out of the environment code and into
the net code. However, this helper is sometimes needed even when the net
stack isn't included.
Move the helper to lib/net_utils.c like it's similarly-purposed
string_to_ip(). Also rename the moved function to similar naming.

Enhance do_bootm_vxworks() to support Linux compatible standard DTB
for ARM and PPC, when the least significant bit of flags in VxWorks
bootargs is set. Otherwise it falls back to the existing bootm flow

Add optional parameter to 'avb verify' sub-command, so that user is able
to specify which slot to use, in case when user's partitions are
slotted. If that parameter is omitted, the behavior of 'avb verify' will

Copy the partition support from NAND backend to SF,
support part and partubi option.
In case of ubi partition, erase the rest of the
partition as it is mandatory for UBI.

We need distinguish the following two situations in various SPI APIs:
- given chip select num is invalid
- given chip select num is valid, but no device is attached
Currently -ENODEV is returned for both cases.
For the first case, it's more reasonable to return -EINVAL instead of
-ENODEV for invalid chip select numbers.

U-Boot now supports the "skip_check" flag to optionally skip the CRC
check at open time. Currently its only possible to set this bit upon
UBI volume creation. But it might be very useful to also set this bit
on already installed systems (e.g. field upgrade) to make also use of
the boot-time decrease on those systems.
This patch now adds a new "ubi" command "ubi skipcheck" to set or clear
this bit in the UBI volume header:

BTW: This saves approx. 10 seconds Linux bootup time on a MT7688 based
target with 128MiB of SPI NAND.

Add support for CDCE913/925/937/949 family of devices. These are modular
PLL-based low cost, high performance, programmable clock synthesizers,
multipliers and dividers. They generate up to 9 output clocks from a
single input frequency. The initial version of the driver does not
support programming of the PLLs, and thus they run in the bypass mode
only. The code is loosely based on the linux kernel cdce9xx driver.

Some Texas Instruments K3 family of SoCs have one of more Digital Signal
Processor (DSP) subsystems that are comprised of either a TMS320C66x
CorePac and/or a next-generation TMS320C71x CorePac processor subsystem.
Add the device tree bindings document for the C66x DSP devices on these
SoCs. The added example illustrates the DT nodes for the first C66x DSP
device present on the K3 J721E family of SoCs.
