refactor/polish ~ re-normalize whitespace

* minimize inconsistent/invisible whitespace

- consistent indentation (either spaces-only, tabs, *or* tabs with following spaces [for indentation])
- no internal/invisible tabs
- no trailing whitespace
- EOF EOLNs
