Fix some nightly clippy lints (#2522)

on nightly these two clippy lints fail:
- [needless_borrow](https://rust-lang.github.io/rust-clippy/master/#needless_borrow)
- [unused_unit](https://rust-lang.github.io/rust-clippy/master/#unused_unit)
